Came here for breakfast for my flight back home. Decent prices and specials before 11am. The coffee was good. They have the good creamer i like. Not the international delights but real creamer. Pancakes were good. I tried the biscuit and gravy and was flavorful. The French toast is made with thick bread but they apparently dont use egg batter to make French toast which is very odd to me. Food here is always good and plentiful. The service is generally very friendly- but when the restaurant is busy be prepared for it to potentially be on the slow side - which is understandable. You can gain weight just by looking in their dessert case - which explains why I always come out needing to put extra air in my car tires. read more

This is one of my favorite diners. I've been coming here since I was a child and the quality has not negatively changed. My friends and I loved coming here as we grew up and it became "our spot." Now as adults, we always come here to catch up and reconnect. The menu is huge and everything is fresh, quick to the table, and delicious. It's true diner comfort food. When the diner closed for renovations, we were all fearful the diner charm, quality of food and menu would change too much. We were all relieved and excited to go back after it reopened. For our meal, we started out with a cup of the potato leek soup. It came with my meal, my partner had it as a side. We both loved it. Lots of goodies on the inside, creamy and delicious. As often happens, we tore into it so fast, I forgot to get a picture. In addition to the soup, my partner had the side order of mac & cheese. For a side order, it was very large. She gave me a taste, and I have to agree with her. It was cheesy, creamy, and delicious. I decided to go with the turkey dinner. Lots of tender, delicious, turkey, a wonderful, rich, cream gravy, and out of this world cranberry sauce. Nick offered me more gravy, but it was plenty . The turkey also came on top of an amazing stuffing. Rich, and it had just a little bit of a sweet to it, but in a very good way, . What I ordered not so excellent. The egg salad in my sandwich tasted like it wasn't made fresh that day and my tossed salad looked like it had been sliced/prepared in advance. I really love this diner for three main reasons.... 1. They serve alcohol, and not just cheap beer like other places. They have a great selection of everything from wine, spirits, and beer. 2. Their lunch specials are amazing and so good for the price. You get a choice of multiple soups of the day, bread, and a delish dish of Moussaka, Lasagna, Beef Stew, BBQ ribs, and many other delish options. 3. The service is excellent even when they are jam packed like they were yesterday for lunch. Oh, and their deserts are out of this world. I did not pick up the order myself so I cannot attest to the service or ambiance. From the moment I placed my order though, I was a bit confused. The breakfast menu had fine choices, I settled with the Skinnylicious breakfast burrito. Thank goodness I noticed that chicken was listed in this egg breakfast burrito which to me was weird. I don't want any meat that isn't sausage or bacon for breakfast. So I did without. When my group got the order they didn't know who ordered what I got because it looked like a salad. For the picture I moved the lettuce so the burrito was viewable but it was definitely the weirdest rendition of a breakfast burrito I've had. I just don't think it pairs well with an Italian dressing salad at 9am. Potatoes or toast probably would be a bit more practical for breakfast. I understand it listed "mixed greens" but I was assuming it would be in the burrito. Unfortunately the salad was better than the burrito. The eggs were spongey and not true egg white I think because it was yellow, which was unfortunate because it had potential with the flavor of the peppers and onions but I couldn't get over the texture. Came on a Monday morning for breakfast around 10 AM. Had a party of 7, the parking lot was full and so was the restaurant but we were sat immediately. Service was friendly and efficiently. They were very accommodating when it came to the fruit for my daughter as she is very picky and wouldn't eat their fruit cup but they gave her grapes instead which is her all time favorite. Coffee cups were always full and they give you a full thing of hot water for your tea. Everyone devoured their food and of course I had to get a slice of their chocolate cream pie. Recently had brunch at Capital City Diner. Pretty good experience. The diner had an old school look which I liked and solid service as well. Parking was a challenge due to the tight parking lot and big crowd. It took some effort to find a spot but once inside, I ordered a Greek omelette with home fries and toast. My wife got a tuna melt and fries. The omelette itself was enjoyable and well made. However, I was disappointed to see that they didn't add the feta cheese which was a core ingredient listed on the menu. I was going to mention it, but the omelette was actually fine without it. Additionally, I specifically requested fresh, extra crispy home fries, but what I received was reheated and far from crispy. This was disappointing, as I was really looking forward to fresh home fries. Despite these issues, I must admit that the overall taste of the food was good. My wife also enjoyed her meal and said her sandwich was nicely done. Oh yeah, nearly forgot that the coffee was actually fresh and tasty, something I don't always see in diners. Overall, I give Capital City Diner 3 stars. While it wasn't perfect, it was pretty good and worth visiting again in my opinion. read more

We came on a Sunday morning around 10:45AM; it was pretty busy (though not as busy as the parking lot would make it out to be), but we got seated within 5 minutes. The menu seems to focus equally on breakfast foods and lunch/dinner foods, along with a larger drink menu than most diners (wines, beers, cocktails). Service was good, and plates cleared promptly. We ordered a short stack (2) of blueberry pancakes, a side of corned beef hash, and the pancake deluxe, which comes with 2 pancakes (can select from any of the pancakes on their menu, including plain, blueberry, and Nutella/banana), 2 eggs any style, a slice of ham, 3 slices of bacon, and a sausage. The pancakes are huge and this combo is a great deal for the amount of food. The corned beef hash was also a huge portion, considering it was listed as a side. I was very glad it was real corned beef, and not the mushy kind that tastes more like ground beef. I added ketchup and it tasted very good. Once you get the bill, you go up to the counter to pay; the server didn't tell us, so we sat around for a bit before realizing. read more

I generally test their mettle by getting a blt. Not today. Decided to try a salad since their menu had many to choose from. Got the Pecan Pear Salad (mixed greens, carrots, red cabbage, toasted pecans, blueberries, pears and crumbled blue cheese). Server suggested the raspberry vinaigrette . To say the least, it was fresh and delicious. Some diners I end up taking out multiple pieces of greens that should never have been served. This salad had no dead leaves, blueberries were perfect, blue cheese was not overwhelming and having the raspberry vinaigrette was delightful. (Pears were a bit crunchy, could have ripened another day or two.) A protein can be added for an additional fee. Did not order one this time, however, shrimp with the dressing would have been fantastic! Parking is good, server was good, amount of food good. Yes, will add this to our list of diners to frequent. I'm most likely going to visit a diner for breakfast, and this one offers an above average selection (several menu pages) with more than the usual offerings. I especially like their omelets. If you don't want to overload on carbs or starch, they have other options instead of potatoes for sides, including sliced tomatoes, which can be cold or grilled. The coffee is plentiful but nothing special, and you get a lot of creamers. Even on a busy Saturday morning, when the parking lot was almost completely full, we had no wait getting in, and when leaving a while later, there was still only a 5 minute wait for a table. read more
