It's very easy to climb yourself, although you do need a Ballay person to guide you down once finished with that specific wall. This is one of two rock climbing gyms in the Canberra area that I know of. I last came here about a…read moredecade ago (not a big Canberra climber) and it's fairly small compared to my normal gym in Sydney. Walls range from 6-8m and they claim to change routes periodically, which is a change from the last time I was here. I found most routes on the bouldering walls were excessively chalky, like they haven't been changed for some time. That being said, its a hard bouldering system, with limited easy routes, so you are best to figure out your own unless you want to take on some tricky moves. Staff are friendly and chatty which is good. Climbing walls are limited, but there are two bouldering sections, one upstairs and one downstairs. The one upstairs I wouldn't have noticed without someone telling me it was there. Entry prices are about $16.50 for adults, $11 for bouldering only - which is nice. Not sure it's worth the $16.50 for climbing, but I've not tried their climbing routes for a long time so can't be sure.

The major term that the gym facility do not tell you or clearly disclose is the cancellation policy. In my experience with most cases and with any service, this is generally clearly stated, mentioned upon signing up to the service/contract and generally is only small cancellation fee. However, Go Figure Women's Health Club DO NOT allow you to cancel your membership. The only way to get out is to find another person to "take over" or "transfer" the membership - which is highly unreasonable, time consuming and sometimes difficult to do. This was not disclosed to me when signing up to the membership. This policy is a true reflection of how unprofessional the gym facility and Manager Tanya is. After contacting the Gym facility and the Manager Tanya in person twice, by two letter's and numerous email correspondence to advise them of my personal circumstances and that I wish to terminate my contract I was turned down with no empathy. After welcoming the opportunity to meet and discuss in person, this was dismissed. Not once was I contacted by phone call to discuss further and to offer assistance to resolve the matter. The only communication from Tanya was by email as if she was avoiding confrontation - another reflection of unprofessionalism. After this, I was threatened on numerous occasions by the facility debit company and then a debt collector to pay the FULL membership costs immediately which amounted to $1,120.00 and if I weren't to pay this the external company would be seeking recovery and it would affect my credit rating. A threading email, text message and phone call which is not ideal to receive two weeks prior to Christmas. From my experience the gym manager Tanya, is simply unprofessional and unfriendly in her manner and way she conducts her business. As a member of her facility and business, at no point did I feel that she wanted to assist me in anyway. I only felt that it was important for her to receive her money as quickly as possible by taking advantage of the debit company to continue the threats. You would think as a woman running a "Women's" gym she would have more care and respect for her members to ensure she maintains a happy relationship with her clients. Im not sure what type of professional business owner would like to run their business knowing from the start that there will be some unhappy customers. I know I am not the only member to have gone through this.

This is a fun attraction in central Canberra with a little something for everyone. This carousel is over 100 years old and, judging from the looks of it, hasn't been visually modified from its original design, though it no longer uses its steam engine for power. In its lack of visual restoration or update, though, it preserves some mildly interesting history. First, an older version of the UK coat of arms dating to George V, and an older version of the Australian coat of arms, with emu and kangaroo positions different from the current version. The painted scenes are also quite interesting to observe, to include a number of British culture and colonial-era scenes, such as a fox hunt, colonial India, -- even a few portraits of nude women. The ride itself is gentle and lasts a few minutes. Moderately thrilling to my five-year-old, but older kids did look a bit bored. Still, the ride and its visual history are well worth 10 minutes of your time.

From their website...'passionate about living healthier lifestyles and you are treated equally regardless of shape, size, gender or fitness level' I've never had a gym make me feel good about myself and my choices before I even stepped foot in the place. They use a holistic approach, many people use this gym and it's nice to be surrounded by a variety of people from many backgrounds and different shapes & sizes. Not just your muscles Mary's! However, even many of them are friendly. I cannot rate this gym highly enough, thanks to all the amazing staff and even the other members who make this place what it is.
