The furniture in the hall section is just basis tables and chair, the kind they had in schools, and it has old style pinball machines etc. If its cold they will roll an electric heater in the room. To the right you can see into the little room they cook in and it offers pizza. You can choose from many kinds of pizza but nothing else unless you want a soft drink. It old school pizza too! Starting with a garlic bread I was delighted with the portion and buttered both sides. Our mains did take an extended period to come out which under the circumstances is acceptable as they were run off their feet. I was pleasantly surprised to see a large portion for the lasagna for the main. Neat presentation. Gooey, melted cheese and beautiful consistency to the mince sauce. The sauce itself could have used more seasoning for me but by no means was it a bad meal. The history on the walls contributed to the warm, homely ambience of the place. Visually inviting to the eye. Best Italian food in Bendigo.

And every time we've tried to go they've been on a break or it's a Sunday night or something. I have been trying to get here for MONTHS! But... we finally got to try it out during the Castlemaine State Festival. There were 4 of us, we arrived at 8:30pm and were told that there was only enough dough left for 2 large pizzas so 2 large pizzas it was. The better half and I opted for proscuitto and our friends chose the chicken and avocado pizza (hold the mushrooms). I enjoy being able to see into a kitchen and watch them work their magic. We watched pizzas being stretched and spun in the air and saw them cooking in that big beautiful woodfired oven. I imagine it would be so nice to sit in by the window during winter sipping on a vino and soaking up the warmth from the fire. The bases on our pizzas were delicious, like REALLY tasty, but we weren't terribly convinced with the toppings. My better half didn't really appreciate the mound of roquette on the proscuitto pizza and our poor friends who asked for NO mushrooms seemed to have received about 8 pizza loads of mushrooms and spent most of the time picking it off. There's nothing worse than getting something you've specifically asked not to receive. But hey, we were told there was only enough dough left for 2 pizzas so we couldn't really do much about it. A couple of our other friends who are regulars here rave about it so we'll give it a second chance in hopes that this was just an off night.

Having lived in the area for ten years and returned to Melbourne I was almost crying tears of joy at a reasonably well priced and funky venue that has erupted onto Piper St. It's not the usual sandalwood hippy funky seen blossoming then shrivelling into it's own death that we usually see on Piper St. Nor is it the upper class "pub grub" that has taken over this side of town. It's down to earth, honest soul soothing food at a reasonable price. You don't need to be earning the big $$$ to enjoy a meal here. There's burgers and tacos, plus the usual sides. I opted for the smaller Minor Toms burger with fries. $12.50 and I couldn't finish the fries. The whole room was raving about the burgers. The space here is tiny and well utilised. The decor is tex-mex meets country Victorian mountain ranges paintings. With a few inspired day of the dead characters. And it works. It really works. I'll be stopping by here again sometime soon. Real soon.

The place was clean, good service, fairly good food and the food came out quick. It's all u can eat for a fairly reasonable price and the staff were happy to take your order when you wanted to order more food. I would recommend Okami to anyone who likes Japanese food or wanting to try it.
