Quality of work: Excellent Quality of post installation support: Excellent Our water use has dropped a LOT. Good savings $$$$ I highly recommend The Irrigation Man The system has worked perfectly, I asked for and received a little hand holding (over the phone) for draining and then restarting the system due to the January freeze. It was easy to do and their phone support was friendly, prompt and expert. Great team. Details: In the fall of 2023 Thomas Irwin, owner of the Irrigation Man company came to my house and performed an assessment of my sprinkler system. It was 25 years old and honestly, we/I had done a poor job maintaining it. Mr. Irwin did a detailed assessment while explaining all the places I was wasting water. He is a super nice guy with a clear, easy to understand speaking style. He sent me a written report of his assessment shortly after the visit. I read it, and asked for a quote. His quote/contract was reasonable, we moved ahead and his crew came out on the planned date (2 day job) and repaired/replaced my system. They set it up, showed me how to edit the program if needed (I have not needed to) and it has worked like a charm ever since. Danny Proverse, the installation manager, told me to please call him if I had any questions about the system. He gave me his contact info and I called him twice related to the January freeze. Once to drain and once to restart the system. Danny is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Negative experience with Matthew's Sprinklers…read more Good, clear, well-informed communication is important for a business, especially during the first meeting and consultation. Matthew's Sprinklers seems proud of its inability to communicate with customers. He even says this in the company's "About" section. I chose to get an assessment from Matthew's Sprinklers because they had many good reviews. Unfortunately, I experienced the opposite of what others experienced. His worker, Cameron, showed up, didn't say hi or greet me in any way, neglected to establish any customer rapport, was lackadaisical, and flippant. Okay, not a big deal, I thought. Let me see what he says about the problem and the solution. He didn't seem interested in anything I had to share. He checked the wires on my Rainbird system, and it appeared that something electrical might be going on. I offered to show him a possible spot where the wiring might have been an issue, but he didn't even take a look, seemed uninterested in assessing anything further, and said the initial fix would start at $250. When I asked what the possible scope of an electrical system/wire repair might cost, he stared blankly at me as though I was annoying him for asking about the job scope and potential cost beyond $250, just to start. So I asked again, reframing the question, thinking he might not have understood what I was asking, same blank stare as though he had better places to be. I asked again if he could share the scope and potential costs beyond $250; as the job might be $250, $500, $750, $1,000, saying that an open check on a repair that the expert isn't speaking to the scope, can lead to potentially being taken advantage of, and could he share better, and further what the scope of the job would entail. Again, no response, just a blank, annoyed stare. I asked one last time, wanting to give them a chance, as they had great reviews, again trying to explain I was asking about the potential scope and cost beyond $250. I wanted to know whether all the wiring needs to be replaced, if it's just one wire or one zone module, or more, and what the price might end up being. I never got to ask about the scope of the wiring potential fix before I could; Cameron responded, "We aren't the company for you." I was astounded and a bit shocked that he said that. He made my decision not to use Matthew's Sprinklers very easy. When I informed the owner, Matthew, I received overt defensiveness. He tried to put half the blame for poor communication on me and a sense of "they don't need the business" if you want to ask for information about the potential scope and possible expense. As a past 30-year Communications Executive and Business Coach, that took the cake. It takes two people to communicate, and when the person you might potentially contract to hire to do a job won't communicate, then you blame the customer - that speaks volumes. Then I called another company and experienced a professional, personable, and proper business posture. I look forward to working with my second choice.
