But $16 USD for a lunch bubble and squeak (tasted fine, but not traditional at all), or a burger and fries for over what I would have expected to pay, a few smoothies, and cresting well over $30 for lunch. The sun was strong in this resort time, when we hit it up on a weekday... less people, more private feel. Easy drive down from the St Kilda area. We sat outside, and there are about 3 tables available (most taken, surprisingly!). The quality of the food overall was fair, portions were about average. Price was still little surprising. But easy to find, along the few eating establishments to choose from along the same strip (did not want souvlaki, or charcoal chicken here). Not too terribly much to look at it except cars passing by the highway lane.. It's a dinko seaside town, after all. Can't quite see Port Philip Bay across the way, and that was a crying shame.

Went on a lovely long walk early in the morning and wound up at Sorrento's beautiful little back beach, right as the All Smiles was opening shop. We chose to sit in the enclosed balcony, because we were the only customers they had - and MAN, the views were ASTONISHINGLY beautiful. We were so excited for breakfast by the beach, it was gonna be a wonderful start to the morning. Except All Smiles doesn't serve breakfast, not really. Not unless you'd count Mousse or Apple Crumble as breakfast, or a Chicken Avocado Focaccia. The menu was very restrictive, and felt like it was aimed at your 76 year old local nanna who likes scones and tea for breakfast - a real juxtaposition to the general atmosphere of the cafe, which is modern and spacious. The scones were in the process of being made when we arrived, which was both exciting (fresh, hot scones! Hells yeah!) and disappointing, because of the 40 minute wait. All Smiles really was not expecting customers so early, it seemed. That said, the staff (or the few that were there) were attentive and friendly, apologising for the wait for several of their menu options (no chicken until the afternoon, so no focaccia, scones aren't done, please wait, yada yada) - but since I'm a reasonably patient person who likes to stare off into the distance with a vague, sleepy expression on their face, I was pretty happy just watching the surf and sipping my latte (it was a good latte.) When the food DID get to the table, I was so glad we ordered the scones, wait or no. They were piping hot, the cream was thick and sweet, and the raspberry jam was tart and delicious. The Egg&Bacon Turkish focaccia looked great, and the Apple crumble was impressive. My only qualm? It's not breakfast food! If you're not gonna offer at least an egg on toast, I don't REALLY see the point of offering desserts as a replacement. Maybe I'm weird, though. To repeat what I said first though, this was just the "breakfast" menu. I did snatch a peek at the lunch menu, which looked much more promising, with curries and soups on it. All Smiles just doesn't really do the breakfast thing - but if you're like Marie Antoinette, and think cake makes a suitable meal, this is the brunch spot for you.

It was a big risk for us to host an event at the beach during a Melbourne winter but we got super lucky and we had clear blue skies in the afternoon and a gorgeous night sky by the end. The venue size was just right for our approximately 100 people. We had a live band in one side (note that it was a bit too loud with the concrete flooring!), along with a large projection screen and projector set up (which we brought ourselves because their only equipment were a speaker and a microphone). The inside was quite warm with a roaring fireplace, which balanced the temperature of the open patio with the chill night air. My husband and I arrived half an hour before our guests and that was enough time to set up the cake and entertainment equipment. We were greeted by Cat, who took great care of us throughout the evening. She showed us our private room which had a large mirror, some seating, and complementary champagne and chocolate! Food was served throughout the evening, in addition to some grapes, cheese, and crackers displayed around the room. The open bar was a sure hit. Overall, we thought it was a great selection and people felt well-fed by the end. The staff gave extra care to those who were vegetarian, being sure to point out which items were suitable. The only thing we would do differently if we were to host another cocktail-style reception is ask the staff to bring out food more quickly in the beginning and taper off near the end, rather than spread it out throughout the 5 hours we were there. That way, people who had to leave early wouldn't go hungry. The staff were diligent in keeping the place clean throughout the night, since there was no noticeable rubbish bin. By the end, even though they worked all day cooking and night serving, they were still kind and helpful as we left. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone else who might want to have a beachside reception!

I wasn't in an adventurous mood so ordered the Spitfire Burger with chips. The chips were delicious. Hot, tasty and beautifully cooked Very generous serve too. Same with the burger. Decent sized. In fact, too big for me to go close to finishing it. It had a good flavoured patty and was also very nicely cooked. This is a good, very well run place. Everything's in harmony. It's clearly a much loved place going by the people coming in and out regularly and the warm greetings and conversation I could hear. Nice place. Recommended.
