First because of all of the positive reviews I read. Second was the name! It's creative, unique and I loved it. I sent an email to enquire if an appointment was needed for a consultation and they responded immediately. We set up an appointment and they sounded genuinely excited to help us out with our framing project. This was our first professional framing experience. Thankfully, from the very beginning of our consultation we both felt comfortable with Ken and Melissa. They were friendly, and knowledgable without being intimidating. They listened to our vision and offered great suggestions without being "pushy". Melissa was helpful and patient as she showed us a wide variety of frame/mat options. They have straightforward but helpful customer service. Turnaround time on disposable camera film is a week and they make it easy to drop off / pick up. I got print and digital copies each time, and one of the times I had to follow up twice to receive my digital copies as they hadn't sent to me by the end of the pickup day, but after a call their way we got it resolved. One of the staff members also helped me with some questions I had on a camera I inherited and gave helpful professional insight. A convenient location for photographers of all levels, from disposable camera users to professionals!

The quality of the invitations were amazing. We used a VERY hefty paper to convey the value of these invitations and the party. Since the party was on the Queen Mary, there was a 1940's cruise line theme. The RSVP cards were even cut to represent a cruise ticket. In addition to the actual invitations we also purchased the design elements so that we could use them for internal marketing. When my graphic designer and ad agency got their invitations they were both impressed at the quality that we received. Mae Mae is a must for any event that you want to convey a sense of importance.

The first one was done in 2013 at a different shop, it was my first tattoo, even though it was done at a different shop it is still hers, the second one however was started in 2015 and it is beautiful and exactly what I wanted. For the one started in 2015, I told her I wanted a tattoo inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling" and I gave one reference picture of a drawing that had an element of what I was looking for. The sketch that I got back far surpassed any expectations or thoughts I had, the sketch was beautiful and it is even more beautiful on my ribs. The tattoo is not finished I have one session left, and I will update it afterwards but even though it is 2/3 complete I still receive a lot of compliments. In regard to the professionalism of Mags I appreciate the fact that she has been doing this for a very long time and she is fully aware of the limitations that are inherently present in tattooing as an art form especially on the body parts that you wish to get tattooed. What she presents as the sketch she can do and she does it very well, and they are proportioned perfectly and what ends up on your body is what she sketched. She is also really good at recognizing the limits of the body that is being tattooed and will take a break when needed, what is also really nice is that she tattoos in sync with your breathing which, for a rib tattoo, is incredibly helpful. Recently, a friend with a newly acquired print in need of framing asked me where I'd had a some…read morepaintings framed. I told him I'd gone to Calhoun Beach Framing. At the time they were near 50th and Penn in South Minneapolis. They've since moved to their current location on Lake Street. From the Web site, it appears that despite the relocation the business is under the same ownership/management. As such, I highly endorse their craftsmanship and expertise. In particular, I brought to them a couple of large oil paintings on raw canvas acquired at an open art fair. They had been rolled up and were a bit frayed around the edges. Despite the less than pristine condition, the works themselves were striking and needed just the right frames to make them really pop. I couldn't be happier with what they suggested and the work performed. In each case, the canvas was properly stretched and mounted with stunning results. The custom frames were not inexpensive. However, given that the paintings were purchased for a song and after framing were near-museum worthy I was more than pleased. I also brought in a few works that my son and daughter had made over the years in art classes. They were painted on medium quality art paper and were somewhat fragile. For each I chose simple metal frames with non-glare glass. I was very happy with the matting and mounting at comparatively modest expense. I was surprised to see that thus far CBF had received no Yelp reviews. I'm glad to be the first. I hope others with similarly favorable opinions will follow.
