We were very happy with our framing experience at Frameworthy in Minnetonka…read more The associate was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. He had an eye for color and design. Our pieces were done in a timely manner and the workmanship was impeccable. I would not say it was "cheap," but their price was lower than the other two shops we visited. They are not open on Sunday, which may be bad for some, but I believe it is because the owners do all the production work themselves which really appeals to me as a consumer.

The following is a list of the "red flags "I should have observed at time of order placement. 1. On the original visit to the frame store the owner "verbally" quoted me a turnaround time of "2 maybe 3 weeks but most realistically closer to 3 weeks which I now realize no "real "contract commitment to a completion date. 2. The owner allowed me to leave his shop @ order placement only with a downpayment receipt a in hand. 3. The owner never provided me a copy of the contract/ purchase agreement documenting the mat, glass and frame materials to be used on the project along with his estimated TAT Time. 14 days later, upon realizing the purchase agreement gaps noted above I phoned the owner of the shop requesting an updated status report on my order. 1 day later the owner returned my call aggressively communicating to me he taking immediate action to cancel my order with his shop. The reasons cited for cancellation was I was bullying the owner in order to gain order preference. He ended his phone call by hanging up on me. In reviewing reviews posted on Yelp there was one other similar complaint to mine. Customer Service: A recent review warns of poor communication and order follow-through, resulting in an abruptly canceled client relationship.

The store has plenty for artists from every walk of life but there is one big issue. This review is…read morewritten from the perspective of an older disabled adult. Little thought was given to the consequences of crowding the aisles with product displays making the store difficult for someone with mobility challenges. I dropped a few brushes (which I did buy) and because it is difficult for me to bend that far I cried out for help several times using my announcer voice. Everyone in the store would have to hear this unless they were wearing headphones. No one responded. After waiting a bit I struggled to get the items off the ground. Finally someone came but it was too late. She stood directly in front of me preventing me from reaching the register. People in general have no awareness of disability. The employee who rang me up obviously didn't know how to have a short friendly chat. It made me feel unwelcome, as if I were disturbing her somehow. I have a long retail history and can't imagine why someone would treat a customer that way. It's unfriendly. She was capable of the simplest basics of operating a register. Unkind. Luckily I don't need to visit often.

I came here because I needed a replacement Micron 005 pen, which is a favorite among artists. I'd checked online and saw they carried them (as did Michael's, but I'm looking to vote with my dollars and spend more appropriately), but elsewise wasn't sure what to expect on my visit. I was pleasantly surprised and I am certain I will be back in the future for projects I have planned. There's stuff here that you just won't find at any big box craft store. That said, this store caters primarily to painters and drawers. This isn't a store to get kid's art supplies; it's a place for adult artists to shop. Canvases (reasonably priced) in a multitude of dimensions (some taller than I am), a staggering assortment of oil paints, paint pens, acrylic leather paint (designed to flex), a massive number of Copics, pastels/charcoal/conte crayon, Sculpey, watercolor supplies including Arches large format single sheets, huge selection of high quality spray paints, canvas sold by the yard on rollers, resin making supplies (including face masks/goggles), gloss glazes for your ceramic firing projects, mechanical pencil leads in every gauge and hardness you could desire, journals/sketchbooks, storage and easels, impulse items like stickers/greeting cards/candy towards the registers, a massive custom framing counter and a canvas stretching counter as well. The employees were all friendly and eager to help. I got asked while I was browsing if I needed any help finding anything. (I did actually need help finding the Microns but my goofy butt auto responded I was just having fun looking... which I was, but LOL I could've also used the help. I'm just so used to turning down assistance.) There's bathrooms in the back if you have need. They are gender neutral, hooray! Nothing fancy, but all functional and clean enough. The surface parking lot is a bit small (and many of the spaces are 30 minute maximum), but there's also plenty of garages nearby as well. It was pretty busy when I was there on a Friday afternoon!

Our beautiful artwork just needed a beautiful frame! I searched online and read reviews for local frame shops. Your Art's Desire caught my attention right away. First because of all of the positive reviews I read. Second was the name! It's creative, unique and I loved it. I sent an email to enquire if an appointment was needed for a consultation and they responded immediately. We set up an appointment and they sounded genuinely excited to help us out with our framing project. This was our first professional framing experience. Thankfully, from the very beginning of our consultation we both felt comfortable with Ken and Melissa. They were friendly, and knowledgable without being intimidating. They listened to our vision and offered great suggestions without being "pushy". Melissa was helpful and patient as she showed us a wide variety of frame/mat options. Ken explained his process and helped to find products that were not only to our liking and in our price range, but also called to verify they were in-stock so we didn't have any unexpected delays. Together we came up with a solid plan. After sharing some great conversation we left and couldnt wait to see the finished product. Two weeks later we picked up our framed picture and absolutely LOVE it. It's big, it's beautiful, and we could not be happier with how it turned out. A huge thank you to Ken & Melissa for everything. If you are looking for a quality, trustworthy framing company we would highly recommend the talented Ken and Melissa at Your Art's Desire!

I had to frame big photographs for a show recently, and was looking at framing costs close to $1000 per print. Yikes. The gallerist in Brooklyn recommended Metropolitan. I took the plunge. The prices were about 1/3 what I found locally. And the quality is absolutely first rate. They worked with me to meet a deadline, and the frames were perfect. A couple of caveats: if you're ordering online, you have to know what you want, and be certain of it. Their website doesn't offer a lot of tools to help you choose moulding, and the pictures that show their various finishes are small and not very accurate. Measure carefully. Measure again. Double-check that you entered the measurements correctly! No one else is going to do it. And of course, you have to be comfortable handling the glazing and assembly once the frames show up. If you're using plexiglass and don't have an adequately big, dust-free workspace, you could be in for some unhappiness. I'd suggest researching online how to clean plexi and remove static charge while working with it. The frames I got were made with maple moulding that they mill in-house. They were assembled with cabinet joints in the corners (awesome) and perfectly finished with tranlucent lacquer after assembly. Much nicer than frames built with pre-finished moulding. These were as nice as anything I've seen in museums. I'll definitely use Metro again, but will make sure I have plenty of time and clear space for the assembly process. Doing it perfectly and keeping everything clean is not trivial.
