Healthy and fresh food options when tired of meat in Buenos Aires. The salad with salmon, the ceviche, and the fried calamari were all great. read more

But my friends got the veggie roll 10/10, 3 crunchy salmon 100/10, and some kind of yellow tail. I got to try a piece of everything and it blew me away. We had great service and drinks. The drinks are $14 each which is a bit pricey for me but then again, could be worse. Also, they are amazing! After dinner we asked to go into the speak easy and it was such a cool experience. I could've sat here all night....we stayed about 2 hours. The ambience in the restaurant and speakeasy were both phenomenal. I would highly recommend for date night or dinner with friends.

This place has been my primary neighborhood sushi spot for both dropping in and delivery since I…read morediscovered it when we first moved into the area, before we were even in this apartment. It's a cute little spot with a small sushi bar, seating for maybe eight people. Mostly it's takeout and delivery. I'm also fond of it because although the selection is somewhat limited, the quality is always excellent, and the pricing isn't near as steep as others (like the above). Here, five pieces each of nigiri salmon and sole, plus a ten-piece creative prawn, avocado, tamago (egg) roll, and it came in at a grand total of 410 pesos (the nigiri alone, think about it, ten piece in total with rice, versus the 10 pieces above of sashimi without, came in at about 60% of the price). My one disappointment in the place is that they used to offer a moriawase of both sushi and sashimi - a mixed selection, rather than having to order five pieces of each kind - but apparently it's too much work to slice one piece each of five different fish rather than all the same one....
[Sushi focused...to be updated soon with more menu items!]…read more Definitely a Buenos Aires gem. We all know the sad truth that is sushi (and fresh fish for that matter) in this city. I know, I know: the lack of fresh seafood doesn't make sense considering the proximity to a vast ocean that we call the Atlantic. Hm. Bistro Tokyo turns that fact on it's head and shows that restos really can serve fantastic quality fish if they want to. We ordered a limited combo that included raw and cooked salmon. Portions are huge and we (male + female) ate happily for $450 including two waters and no appetizers. Which is my next point: you'll pay more than many sushi meals, but prices won't hurt too, too badly. Definitely considering going with a group so as to order more variety -- there are so many great looking non-sushi dishes too! To be continued...

We told the host we were just having cocktails and no food when he first spoke to us. We ended up getting seated at the sushi bar after a few minutes and we sat waiting at the sushi bar without menus or acknowledgement from a waiter for over 10 minutes which is unacceptable due to the amount of staff on hand that evening. We were getting angry and talking about another restaurant to go to when a couple left the bar, so we jumped up and moved over to the open seating at the cocktail bar. They offered a good selection of cocktails both signature and classic options, though most cocktails were around $300 pesos which surely had to do with the upscale ambiance of this place. My cocktail, the negroni pictured, was delicious as usual but there were a couple things we didn't love about the visit. The entire night I watched the bartender handle ice, garnishes for drinks, glasses, and tasting spoons with his bare hands, and never washed them once in the hour+ we sat at the bar. This was very off-putting to me, seeing the bartender reach into a container of orange slices, pull them out with bare hands, and THEN place them into tweezers before applying to the rim of the glass. THIS IS A GIANT RED FLAG. I liked the ambiance of this place but after our service, the prices, and the bartenders lack of food safety hygiene I absolutely would not be back.
