Consumer Beware of Optum Medical Care, PC. Although the physician I saw at this office was excellent, Optum's fees for service were way above "Usual and Customary". The bill for my one-time optometrist appointment was $1,829, with my out-of-pocket charge being $760. I understand that healthcare companies need to be profitable but this bill reflects corporate greed. It is the kind of bill that deters patients from seeking the medical care they need. I have been trying to negotiate this bill for months, but Optum is unwilling to adjust the charges to a more "Usual and Customary" rate. When I last spoke with a supervisor in billing she said she would get back to me and never did. I have never not paid a bill until this one. It is SAD and really FRUSTRATED to see how CareMounth has been going down these years. I called this morning to ask to see my specialist because I don't feel well, and after waiting for 10 minutes, I was told my doctor is away, which is FINE. Then I asked for an alternative doctor for the same day appointment, and ironically, I was told to go to urgent care!! The receptionist was very cold and rude. By the way, no matter when you call to see your nurse practitioner to discuss your test result (YES, they will never call you about your result) , it will always be she is on another call. I am switching to a NEW provider, even if CareMount is only 5 minutes away from my house and I have been using it for 15 years! read more

Many issues with this place 1. Lateness- I made an appointment for 3pm and came at 2:55. I was not seen until one hour after my appointment time. Was never told they were running late. Just sat there 2. Insurance- when I received my confirmation email it said I had no insurance and was paying cash. No problem as I made the appointment online. When I arrived no one asked me about my insurance. So I volunteered to show my insurance card. The woman behind the desk took it, had it for a bit and returned my card to me saying my insurance info was now in the system. Great! After my appointment I came out asking if I had a copay or anything and it was a different woman than the one I had first checked in with. (Both were kind and polite but my overall experience here was a disaster) She named an insurance that was not mine. After a bit of confusion I gave her my insurance again. She asked for info the previous person had not asked (my sponsors DOB etc) and said I had no copay. I pray that this time around the insurance went in correctly 3. Doctor did not want to help- when the Dr arrived an hour after my appointment time I explained to him that I live in JAPAN and was visiting family. His "advice" was not practical to an international visitor AT ALL He outright refused to refill my medication that is very commonly prescribed and is not a narcotic nor controlled substance. No explanation about why- many people book urgent care visits for temp medication refills because we do not have a regular doctor to do so in the area. I only asked for a two week supply as well which is more than reasonable So after waiting an hour for my appointment he would rather the patient seeing him go without their medication and potentially into withdrawal with no explanation. Lovely! Next he did a brief exam and said there was nothing he could do for me. He recommended I purchase an otc nasal spray with steroids. I asked for a prescription for it and he said it's available over the counter so no. He also told me he couldn't help me but that I should see an ENT specialist. Yes, with my barely two week long vacation I'm somehow going to get an appointment that usually books a minimum of one month out. I should have stayed home because at this point I lost hours of my time and had nothing but a headache to show for it My husband is a physician (radiologist) and was the one who advised me to try urgent care for my situation and he was very confused and disappointed by my treatment here. In conclusion I highly recommend you go elsewhere, anywhere- or maybe stay home since they do nothing for you. I will be a Karen and file a formal complaint. Spare yourself this experience read more

DO NOT sign up as a new patient here. Go anywhere else. Optum took over the medical practice once called CareMount -- previously called Mount Kisco Medical Group. Optum has destroyed this medical group. It is now shabby and seedy. The doctors remain excellent, but Optum has had a terrible effect on on the care they can provide -- the doctors are are obviously demoralized and stressed out. Many are leaving. A few notes: it is nearly impossible to obtain an appointment with a primary care physician (e.g. internist, gynecologist). Because of this shortage, even if you are an established patient, you can wait more than a year for an appointment. And because of this shortage, Optum aggressively discourages seniors from getting physicals -- deceptively assuring them that a perfunctory "wellness" check is enough -- although other nearby practices rightly recommend physicals in addition to wellness checks for seniors. In the past year, I have had two appointments where doctors complained openly about their workload and about Optum's gouging practice of trying to expand each appointment into several in order to charge more -- even when this causes long delays in cases where prompt identification and treatment of an illness are important. Also notable for the immune-suppressed: Technicians in the Optum's radiology lab do not wear masks -- even if the test being done requires close contact and many minutes to complete, and even if you or a family member is immune compromised. Protect yourself as a patient and take the extra time to look for better care -- in Westchester, Connecticut, or New York City. There are many other great options out there. read more

Medical care at its absolute worst. I have long-standing docs at CareMount. For the most part, they are exceptionally good and I would follow my docs anywhere. But they're only good when I can get an appointment to see them. This entire conglomerate has grown far too big and far too distant from its patients. It's more of a hell hole now, more concerned with image than substance. I recently ran out of meds I'd been taking for several years. Although the meds are essential, but the GI department refused to renew the Rx unless I came in to see them. After more than an hour waiting of the phone, I was told that the next available appointment was three months away. THREE MONTHS. The results were not good for me, not good at all. Medical care is not supposed to work this way. It didn't when this was the far smaller Mount Kisco Medical Group. Unfortunately that group (and many others) were bought out by CareMount which has now been bought out by Optum. Any relation to good medical care is long since gone. If there are any other choices around you, any other, choose them over this poorly run mega-corp. read more

this is not about the capabilities of the doctors. I've found them all to be quite capable. however a month ago my urologist saw me an hour after my appointment time. today the opthalmologist kept us waiting an hour until we could see him. In March I tried to make an appointment with a nephrologist. They could give me a date in July. I got an appointment at Phelps 48 hours after calling them. My wife was told 6 months to get a time with ob-gyn.she also went elsewhere. Telephone system is still bad. No operators to answer calls in a timely fashion. read more

Really poor customer service. I am urgently in need of a prescription refill and my doctor hasn't responded to my request in two days. I've called four times and have had this pushed through by each representative. How can a doctor be so inconsiderate and careless to check their prescription requests before they leave their job. Telephone service absolutely the worst system.. no one answers nor do they call back... can wait hours on the line! Understaffed in all areas including doctors..waited 2 months to get a glucose test report back . During COVID , I was told by the Katonah office where I was a patient "do not come into the office if you are sick .. go to Urgent Care" which I did to get a chest X-ray!.. My first and LAST time there. Superficially, everyone was oh so pleasant. But I had no idea that the nursing staff rules the roost. The nurses sabotage doctors they don't like - especially the dark skinned doctors (yes!) --even when it imperils the patient's well-being. They refused to give me important lab work results and refused to send in prescriptions. Not only that, my pharmacist phoned me and told me the weird diagnosis they put on my Vitamin supplements - it was so f**ked up, he couldn't fill the prescription. All in all, Caremount Medical is to Dutchess County what Crystal Run is to Sullivan County. Absolutely stupid staff at CareMount in Yorktown. I came to the site for the test. Of course, I was wearing a mask and gloves. A nurse at the door told me to place another the mask on top of mine and take out the gloves. Well, I understand the request to change the mask, but.... Why should I remove my gloves? I want to protect my hands from infection (elevator buttons, doors, seats etc.). So, I proposed to disinfect the gloves with available sanitizer gel (it was in front of me). However, the nurse said that I shouldn't use gloves because it is prohibited. So, I had to remove them or go home. What's wrong if I sanitize the gloves instead of open skin? How stupid it is! The Patient Portal website is absolutely terrible and useless. I wanted to see the result of my recent test, but found again that the last result is outdated by 8 months! I did multiple tests during these 8 months but nothing was there. Nobody is maintaining the website. In the past I had a similar issue, so I sent several messages about it to the customer service (through this website). Of course, nobody responded and nothing was done. However, the doctors at CareMount are good. It is a shame that the management is so terrible! read more

Caremount Medical emphasizes that they care about their patients. It's a lie. They don't seem to care much if at all for patients. But they sure charge as if they do care. If I could give them a negative review, I would. Among my many complaints, recently I asked them to follow up for a test with another service (send an order) and, more than a week later, they have yet to follow up. So I cannot get the tests done. Every time I call to try to get assistance, it takes about an hour to get someone on the phone (though often they cut the line on you) and they are usually not very helpful. The only way I can get their attention is to go personally and request to see someone to get help. It should not be the patient begging to get helped for it is not a free service. I have asked to be referred to another service where they actually pay attention to the patient but they never provide helpful information. I need to find another service quickly! read more

Both my doctors in this practice are amazing- Dr. Basch and Dr. Choe. What is NOT OK is the complete lack of professionalism shown by the office staff. One of them was so rude to me on the phone that when I hung up I was brought to tears. They also declined a prescription multiple times and couldn't tell me why. Denying someone a prescription is not a joke. Eventually they told me it was because I hadn't been in a year which was not true, because when I went online to schedule the annual so I could get my prescription, the system said it hadn't been a full year!! Again, when I spoke to the office coordinators they were completely disrespectful and making excuses saying it was my fault that I'm not on top of my appointments. I love my doctors here but I don't know if I can keep coming here on account of the rude office staff. Caremount- I hope you are reading this. When you are dealing with people with medical issues, there needs to be a certain bedside manner even exhibited by office staff, etc. You need to train your staff and fix these issues or you will continue to lose patients. If I could give negative stars, I would. I've been with this practice - first Mount Kisco Medical and now Caremount (and many of the doctors before they joined the practice) for almost 30 years. To say that they have become a disgrace to the medical field is being kind. No one picks up the phone or ever returns a phone call. It takes months to get an appointment. The staff is rude and incompetent. Most of my doctors -- the smart ones -- have wisely retired and been replaced with box checkers. The doctors are great but good luck getting through their phone system to get an appt. I've spent hours only to get hung up on. I've waited for a callback over 2 hours then missed the call and had to start over. The online service they tout while on eternal hold is just as frustrating. When you finally get through it's months before you can get an appt for an annual exam. I gave up and called another provider- spoke to a person!! and had an appointment in the same month. Unfortunately, scheduling appointments with any Caremount doctor is a real challenge. You can wait for hours on hold for assistance. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Alam, a urogynecologist, 4 months ago. She re-scheduled twice. I arrived at my twice re-scheduled appointment this week to be told the doctor could not see me. She was "busy". I was ushered unto the office manager's office to be told "The doctor is NOT seeing you today" period, no apology, just a nasty office manager. 6 months ago I booked a new patient physical exam ( covered under Medicare). I was told the doctor does a limited number of physical exams one day a week, because they require time. I was told August 24 was the earliest, 10 AM. I said OK. After waiting for one hour and 15 minutes in the exam room, fully clothed, the dr spoke to me and did a brief exam - no EKG or urine or complete listening to heart and lungs, no pulse checks. It was somehow turned into an annual wellness exam!! I'm not going back. A representative from CareMount corporate called me and treated me like an elderly idiot who didn't know the difference between a wellness visit and a physical exam. I do. I had a colonoscopy with Dr. Mendelsohn, w/Dr. Skolnick on anesthesia. It was my regular, routine preventative care. My husband had the same procedure 1 week prior with the same 2 doctors. My husband's procedure and anesthesia were billed properly so that my insurance covered his procedure as preventative. CareMount billing has billed my procedure differently. Therefore, the anesthesia is not billed as preventative and they expect me to pay $606 on a $1400 bill. It has been 4 months of emails and phone calls and no one will talk to me about why it is coded as non-preventative. read more

Great doctors but terrible management practices. Unacceptable long wait times to make appointments or have medical questions answered. On one occasion no one picked up the phone after multiple tries. I had to drive over to the office to get a simple question answered. Support staff is not trained in how to discuss test results. My daughter had an awful time with that issue. The physicians are fine. However, I can say that throughout the entire 15 years I've been a CareMount patient, never once have I encountered a marginally friendly staff member. From calling to schedule an appointment, to following up on a prescription, I am always forced to tolerate rude, unprofessional attitudes from the staff. My wife used to think I was exaggerating when I would complain about how the staff treated patients over the phone. That said, I began calling CareMount on speaker, that way my wife could listen in and she actually finds it hysterical (let's face it - it is pretty funny at this point). In all honesty, I continue to go to CareMount out of sheer convenience (and not wanting to go through the nightmare of switching my medical files over to another office, which I can't imagine would be easy to do with CareMount). One word of advice: stay away from the Yorktown office and don't try to call ANY of the offices around lunchtime. You'll be put on hold indefinitely until the staff is done taking lunch. read more

We called their 888-859-9473 number and emailed billinginquiry@cmmedical.com, asking for detail of the bill but no one responded, then we received a letter that they sent the bill to the collection agency. we are filing a BBB review for the business and fighting the case of wrong or fraud/aggressive billing practice. read more

It's unfortunate that economic forces cause independent doctors to join groups like caremount medical, which adds a layer of useless bureaucracy to the already unwieldy doctor-patient relationship. Their visually impaired website makes it difficult to accomplish the simplest things, scheduling and changing an appointment with my doctor for instance. I really like and respect my doctors at caremount. But the portal is horrendous. When you can login there's no information there to read. With this new 24/7 video site I was supposed to have a telemedicine conference but when I logged in they wanted $100 even though the site said it was free. I tried to go on the portal to cancel the appointment and couldn't log in and eventually got locked out I can't stand this type of computer incompetence in this day and age. Finally I called the office to cancel the appointment and she said she couldn't cancel cuz it was 15 minutes after the appointment time and I said I've been trying to get on for 15 minutes to notify them. It's bad enough that we're dealing with this covid-19 but now we have to deal with this crap it's ridiculous. I grew up with mount kisco medical group and always have fond memories of the doctors and the group . I recently returned with my wife for her pregnancy and was extremely disappointed by the OBGNY. Patients are treated like a number , cannot speak to a medical professional outside of scheduled appointment times , and I question the competence of the doctors. I was advise by the "manager " of the unit that I was no longer permitted to contact them . In my opinion that this group intends to monopolize alll medicine in northern westchester and then drive down medical standards and charge exorbitant fees. We have been patients of Caremount (MT. Kisco Medica) for over 40 years. While we are very satisfied with the doctors generally, it is almost impossible to schedule appointments, to call for refills, or to schedule procedures without waiting literally for hours on hold only to be cut off. Caremount loves to call and get patient reviews immediately after appointments but the robotic questions they ask do not give you the chance to criticize their abysmal administration. We have watched as Dr. Scott Hayworth (whose only interest seems to be monopolistic expansion and greater profits) destroy what was once an excellent and responsive local practice and turn it into one of the most patient unfriendly environments that ever existed. We have finally reached the point of looking for alternatives even if it means going farther out of the geographic area. read more

Beware the inordinately high fees that will take a bite out of your deductible. I went in for a routine physical covered 100% by my insurance. Instead, I was billed hundreds of dollars for the visit and blood work labs since I was a new patient seeing the doctor for a first time. Nobody told me, but this was billed as an "establishing care" visit - beware if you are a new patient. It took hours upon hours of calling the billing department over a series of months. They told me they cannot change a billing code for service. So...if you do see a doctor in this network, beware. ASK about billing codes. DOUBLE CHECK with your insurance provider about your coverages. CHECK AGAIN your billing codes and info when you leave the office. Avoid the billing department at all costs and do your homework up front. I am switching to another network. read more

I have never had a good experience with the billing department. You will be on hold with them for more than 30 minutes even for the most simple question. Their patient portal does not work. The doctor care you receive is spotty. If you have a good physician with the group and you want to stick with them, you have to deal with the poor admin The billing practices are a NIGHTMARE. douglas roth & carolann in the surgery department are amazing ! i was recommended to dr. roth for a breast augmentation and he recommended doing testing as a precaution because i have a history of cancer in my family. so i went to dr. freedman for testing & she and her nurse were so sweet and kind. lovely to talk to during not so lovely testing. in waiting for results i spoke to dr. roth himself a few times and carolann as well - i just want to hug carolann because she is so maternal and caring. she has been helpful with all my billing questions and insurance issues. i will admit getting through to the doctors was a hassle but i understand their receptionists are busy. read more
