They let me know what they would have done, had they been given more freedom yet in the end my stylist at the Hair Factory was happy to obey. And since it was A) my money being handed over and B) my goddamn hair I left satisfied. Whilst I was having it blow dried to within an inch of my barnet's life, I did get a few tips which I am usually too scared to ask for, about how to get it properly straight with a hairdryer (I use £15 straighteners to varying effect). I also had a chat about my hair colour which we all agreed would look good a shade darker - I experimented with temporary mahogany a few years ago but didn't like it. Brown is staying, but they convinced me that I should go back and since the guy at Razor's Edge a few times back also suggested this same thing, I didn't think it was a con. Must be what all them slebs do. Dye it to make it shinier.

Adrian worked his magic on Jenny's tresses and she was delighted with the results.As we all know, a virgin visit to an unfamiliar hairdressers can be quite daunting and you usually leave somewhat disappointed with the results, but Jen was gowned then groomed professionally and comfortably without any delay. The salon was quite full but she did not feel rushed and there were four stylists performing quietly and efficiently. This is a spacious place, there is no possiblity of feeling cramped or able to overhear the mundane conversation from the perm next door. As it was Jen's first visit, she received 50% off her colour treatment and she left feeling and looking like a movie star. Move over Marilyn, there is a new blond in town.

Which, for the most part is okay by me. I'm not a hair stylist and darned if I know what I look good in / what looks good on me. But two things I do know: I don't like my curly hair and when I pay a small fortune to have it cut and styled, I like to have it straightened. Buzzing in a bit of factory-like way, they do take great care to give you a great cut. Their whole philosophy is based on the fact that they work with your natural hair to make it look great. I can appreciate that. But when I've lived with my hair for 35 years, and have never been satisfied with or successfully made it look great regardless of hair cut or product, I think I have the right to ask the person I'm paying to do my hair to blow dry it straight. The concept is so different here. You don't walk into one of these salons and tell the stylist what you want. THEY tell YOU... what you should have. For example clippers!!!! According to one of the stylist I was talking to during my last cut, everyone's head shape is different their faces are unique. That's a fair point right?? So if you use the clippers and just follow the contours of the head depending on how your head is shaped and it won't be perfect with no bumps let me tell you, it will look odd. What the stylist do here is recommend the right hair cut which best suits your head and face, I think this is fair point. Whether you care or not is a different matter but I still feel the argument is a compelling one. Now this almost scientific attitude towards hair styling didn't come about over night as I mentioned Vidal has been going for over 50 years. It almost acts as an international academy now for the rest, who merely follow in their footsteps. Ok so let us come to the issue of how much it would set you back. Cheap it is not, but needless to say the service will be impeccable and you will be in safe and expert hands. A consultation, shampoo massage, conditioner and finish will set you back around £50, however there is a 20% discount available for students as well as corporate discounts. The ideal scenario I suppose is a gift voucher which is a perfect gift or treat for a friend or other half. Must add that price tag is for a creative level 1 cutter. As you go up The ladder the price goes up. Creative director of this salon for example will charge £89. Which is less than they do in London ....around £120... So Like I said just wish that someone treats you to a gift voucher or go along yourself, and be educated in the art and science of hair styling. If you want the best you gotta cough up right??

You will be guaranteed great service and a nice chat with styles that are upto date with latest trends and fit your personal requirements. They always have local students studying and getting experience of working in a salon so they even give back to the community and help up and coming stylists. I highly recommend Denny's as the place to go in Manchester to get your hair styled. 8 years of visits and always a stylish cut and never a bad one. Can't argue with those numbers.

I have naturally curly, European hair that seems to faze a lot of stylists and have had my share of dreadful hair cuts in my time, but I was completely over the moon with my cut at Bliss.
