I was sitting in the IDV court waiting and overheard her talking to one of her clients. She was ON IT. Strong, direct, organized, and clearly had a plan. I remember sitting there thinking, "That's the attorney I need." I called Nicole that same day. The difference was night and day. Nicole is an absolute powerhouse. She takes incredible notes, and her recollection of details is unmatched. She always knew the dates, names, incidents, and facts without missing a beat. Every argument she made was backed up by specifics, not just opinions. It was obvious she knew my case inside and out. One thing I really appreciated was how seriously she took every court appearance. Before court, she wasn't sitting around making small talk or wasting time. She would be in the back reviewing her notes, preparing her arguments, and getting her head in the game. That level of preparation showed every single time we stepped into a courtroom. During court, she was confident, concise, strategic, and relentless when she needed to be. She fought for me and my son every step of the way. She was honest with me when I needed a reality check, but she always did it respectfully. At the same time, if I disagreed or wanted to push back, she listened and gave me the opportunity to be heard and took chances on my wishes if I truly believed in them. I always felt like we were a team. I came to Nicole after another attorney told me to expect my ex to have overnights and weekends within six months of the incident that led to my Order of Protection. Given the circumstances, I felt defeated hearing that. Nicole never pressured me to accept an outcome just because it was easier. She listened, understood the facts, and fought for what was in my child's best interest- including pushing for forensic evaluations. I recently signed my final Order on Consent. The outcome is supervised visitation for ~9 hours per week, no overnights, indefinitely. Nicole fought hard for that outcome and never made me feel like I had to give up my position just to settle the case. To top it all off, her rates were extremely fair. I spent almost three times as much with my previous attorney and got a fraction of the results. Every dollar I spent with Nicole felt worth it because she was prepared, responsive, and effective. If you're dealing with a high-conflict custody case and want an attorney who is smart, organized, prepared, and willing to fight for you, I cannot recommend Nicole Gadbois enough. I would have to agree with another reviewer that they don't treat us not people. You are assigned a paralegal and not an attorney. You don't even get assigned an attorney until the day of your hearing with the judge. Paralegal doesn't return calls and i did send her emails. She returned the emails sometimes that same day or days later. A person at Social security called them several times and could never get your paralegal on the phone. Docs was never send and checked in a timely matter. SSA doesn't wait until your firm is ready and this lawyer firm should know that. SsA will continue your case and make a determination with or without them. I had to gather all my paperwork and get my doctor to fill out forms and call ssa myself to make sure they got it and then call my doctor to tell them to fax it to them or the law firm. I felt like I was doing all the work and I shouldn't feel that way. Do yourself a favor it's not worth going to this firm and paying them for services that you feel like your doing yourself. Get a law firm that cares and that you actually can speak with a lawyer through our case. You should be able to trust your lawyer or law firm cuz I never spoken or meet my lawyer but that paralegal. This is a very large law firm and for the actual owner to speak with me a few times showed me they're not just another law firm looking for their cut in your accident, etc. They earn their cut which isn't really much. They were always there to answer any questions I had. I love that if when you call and if your rep. is busy they make an appointment for you to speak with them at another specified time that works for you and them, which is great as they focus on you at that time and it's all yours. I was never interrupted or hurried off the phone; I never felt rushed. In fact Carla wouldn't get off the phone with me if I didn't understand something. She explains things to you in layman's terms. I'm sure she might have been annoyed with all my questions, etc., but she never quivered and always treated me professionally and with full compassion. WComp. is a lot of papers and it's tough to understand but Carla took that pile of papers and info and reduced them so I could breeze through and with confidence that she was working for my best interest. She also explained the WC procedures, law, and processes to me that I now understand. The laws for WC in NYS are terrible. They side with the employer which for those of us like me who've been left with life-long disabilities due to an accident at work is just deplorable. I believe WC is very unfair, has very little concern for the employee. They are too straight forward and it seems they treat us all alike when all our cases are very different.
