I was quoted a ridiculous amount $$$$$ for hysterectomy (for polyp removal). The office manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, and the front desk staff, particularly Tessa, shared private health information without my consent, a serious violation of privacy. The quotes I received, especially from Dr. Lisa Sliwinski and the facility, were outrageously high for what should have been a relatively straightforward procedure. Doctor Winfred Parnell here will not suggest you to get a second opinion because they know they are being dishonest to the patients like me. I am not a black African American patients and all his other reviews talked about how he did myomectomies on patients with fibroids. I completely feel discriminated by him and his medical assistant. I should have not been allowed to get a hysterectomy because there are other noninvasive procedures to remove polyps. He did not even bother to help me by saving my uterus. All his notes on my medical records showed how he misdiagnosed me with endometriosis and still removed my uterus without having a real problem. He has an employee, Carolyn Morris, doing all the ultrasounds and falsely informing patients with the wrong diagnosis so he can push you to ge a hysterectomy. He will make a very good amount of money by getting your uterus out. $95k plus 6k patients deductible. No patient should lose their reproductive system by only having uterine polyps. read more

Terrible care they love removing the reproductive organs for young women. Knowing the real harm they will cause. It does not matter if the surgery was done laparoscopic/ robotics like they called it. To all women get all the real and side effects from a hysterectomy. Bone mineral loss, thyroid problems, divorce, depression, dental problems, pain on your legs, heart palpitations, weakness, weak immune system, ovary failure, joints pain, grey hair soon after the surgery, cut problems. I have been a patient for years, but in the last couple of years, it has become increasingly difficult to get to the office. First, it was a lot of construction, now parking is difficult. If you make one misstep, you will look for parking for 15 minutes. Not worth the trouble. read more

Dr. Wendy Parnell has been my OB since May 2016, and I have nothing but good things to say about her and this practice! She always makes such an intentional effort to catch up and ask how I'm doing at each appointment, and asks about my family and things going on in my life. She has always been incredibly honest and does her job with excellence and professionalism, while still managing to be gentle, personable, and build a relationship. In May 2018 we found out that we were pregnant, and she has just been incredible throughout the entire pregnancy! We found out about some complications, and she was able to find them early, and advise me and walk with me through every step. She and the entire practice get things done in a timely manner, are efficient, return phone calls promptly, walk with you through the complications and bad news, and rejoice with you in the joys and good news. He is technically very skilled as a surgeon and I had better and shorter recovery than I expected. Another thing I can say is that he cares about his patients. I received excellent prenatal care from Dr. Wendy Parnell- she was extremely kind, knowledgeable and professional during every step of my pregnancy. Ironically, her dad (Dr. Wendell Parnell) delivered my son, and once again, he was very knowledgeable and professional. My only (and major) issue is with Dr. Gunderson, who performed my son's circumcision two days later; hence the two-star review. My biggest mistake was trusting Dr. Gunderson with this delicate procedure. My son's circumcision was sloppily done, and he was left with a completely jagged and uneven scar around his penis. My only reason for writing this review is to serve as a warning to other new parents. I would never want anyone else to experience the anxiety, helplessness and regret I've been living with as a result of this botched procedure. My baby boy will always be perfect in my eyes, but I do not think it's fair that he will be forced to live his life with this completely avoidable flaw. Please take my advice and seek out a specialist, rather than allow a general OB to complete your son's circumcision. I will DEFINITELY be consulting with a urologist the next time around. I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. read more

Transitioning out of a fancy Obgyn practice that was covered by my previous employer's PPO, I was initially very scared to go to the Carlos & Parnell practice which actually accepted my Obamacare HMO. Dr. Diaz was stellar for my first appointment. I was not only impressed by her medical professionalism but also her compassion for the other side of the office, that is--how we're all going to pay for these services! The staff here is great and most of the physicians are amazing. I have been going here for the last nine months and I love Dr Windfred Parnell. He is my primary physician and he is amazing. He's very relaxed, knowledgeable and attentive. Whatever my concerns are he always finds a way to put my mind at ease especially since this is my first pregnancy and I have been really nervous. Even if I call into his office with questions or concerns he always, 100% of the time calls me back himself and personally speaks with me in regards to all my concerns. I could not ask for a better doctor and I'm fortunate to have him. But they have a policy where you have to meet all five doctors in their network regardless of who you primary doctor is. This is to ensure you have met them all just Incase you go into labor and on a day or time your primary doctor isn't available. So I have met with Dr. Gunderson who is extremely sweet and great at her job as well. She makes me feel just as comfortable as doctor Parnell does and I would recommend her to anyone as well. Dr Diaz bedside manner isn't the best, her knowledge base seems to be focused on things unrelated to any of the actual issues at hand. She tends to have her own opinions that are not based off of facts or my medical records. She's not very good at making you feel at ease. She can definitely make a situation very stressful that don't need to be. But again my Dr. Parnell eases my mind and reinsured me I was perfectly fine after I brought my concerns about her to his attention. This review is five stars easily even with Dr Diaz not being my favorite physician because everyone else I encountered at this doctors office are amazing. Staff, physicians, nurses and even the patients. After my son was delivered successfully and the days I spent in the hospital. Dr Wendy Parnell was on call as my doctor the last few days My son and I spent in the hospital, she did an amazing job with my sons circumcision and was attentive to my concerns and our needs while we were there. Dr. Wendy Parnell did a great job answering my questions and taking care of me and my son. The staff and doctors at medical city were absolutely amazing. I had to come back and update my review because I had one not so pleasant incident during one of my doctors appointment prior to my deliver but My doctor Windfred Parnell followed up with my concerns from that day and took time to contact me and talk to me about the situation and how to rectified it. I feel that speaks volumes on this practice and how professional they are. I would pick Dr Parnell every time if asked. He is amazing and his staff are too. Even the nurses were amazing at medical city. Everyone was pleasant, answered all my questions, made sure me and my son were taken care of and were never at distress or worried. They were patient and worked with us from the moment I got there until the moment I left. If I had to do it all over again I would go with and do the same thing all over again with the same medical team. The entire staff at Carlos and Parnell is AMAZING!!! They are so friendly and welcoming. I went to Dr. Monica Diaz for about 1.5 years. Dr Diaz is patient, knowledgeable, trust-worthy, friendly, warm, welcoming, I just can't say enough good things about her! I sadly moved to Houston and can no longer go to her office. When I moved, I did get lots of helpful recommendations for a new doctor in Houston. Nurses, doctors, admin, etc. all knew me by name. Everyone greets you and makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in. I once took a friend here and she commented on how friendly everyone at this office is. If you are looking for a OB-GYN in Dallas, I highly recommend this office. There is parking out in front of the office building for about $2-3 (cash or check only), valet is more. I just moved into town, and tried to schedule my annual exam based on the positive reviews here. While the receptionist was very polite, she pretty much wanted all my information up front before she would even schedule the exam. My health insurance company has stayed the same but I know the group number changed, and didn't have it with me at the time (I haven't received my new cards yet), but could bring it with me to the appointment. So I pretty much gave my name, address, phone number, emergency contact, SSN to this woman before she was like, "Oh we need all this other stuff you don't have before we can make the appointment." What gives? She didn't even recognize my Fortune 500 employer. read more

I have been going to Dr. W. Parnell for over 14 yrs and can't imagine going anywhere else. When I was "with little one", as is customary in a group practice, you are seen once by each doctor in case of emergency. Well, even though I was upset at the time, another doctor DID end up delivering my Jazzy. It didn't matter, though, because Dr. Parnell was there first thing in the morning. Well visits are a breeze and the entire office staff is just wonderful to work with. They have the latest administrative technology, so your doctor speak his commentary into the computer while you are both in the examining room. By the way, there is another Dr. Parnell in the office - Dr. Parnell's daughter! If you are not comfortable with a male OB Gyn, then you could visit her or Dr. Diaz. read more

Three years ago I arrived at Dr. Carlos' office very sick and with a ten pound benign fibroid uterus. Visiting his office on a referral from a friend, I found Dr. Carlos to be a positive and kind person that was willing to take on the challenge of removing my mass. Not only was I impressed with his gentle but proactive bedside manner before and after my operation but I felt safe in his care. I see Dr. Parnell and I'm so lucky to have found her. I just lucked out that I picked this office in a hurry when I first moved to Dallas and found out I was pregnant! During my entire pregnancy I had zero issues with front desk or billing and all costs were very upfront and told to me from the beginning so I could plan. My care from Dr. Wendy Parnell and her assistant was always so warm and I really felt special every time, like they remembered me. I also met with all the doctors in the practice so I could be comfortable with whoever was on call when I went into labor, and felt in good hands with each of them. They were so accommodating trying to find me appointments that worked with my schedule so I wouldn't have to miss a lot of work, and they are always on time which I don't know how they pull off with being on call! I could go to a doctors visit on my lunch break and not worry it would take too long. When I did end up having the baby i went in around 12 midnight and throughout labor I was with Dr. Winfred Parnell who was on call. He was so pleasant and happy the whole time (even though it was the middle of the night) and had a very calming effect every time he came to check on me. Then Dr. Wendy came in early in the morning just to be there for me so I could have my baby with her! That just shows she is truly committed to her patients. I can't say enough great things about this practice and I'm grateful that I found them so I was able to enjoy the entire experience of having my 1st baby. The last thing that makes this practice an amazing choice is it is just an elevator ride away from the labor and delivery unit so you really feel familiar with the whole hospital before the baby comes. This was important to me being so new to Dallas. I highly recommend this practice! read more

I can only speak on behalf of Dr. Diaz and her staff. I am utterly disappointed as I have been a patient for a few years. It took awhile to find a doctor that I trusted and now that trust is ruined. On my regular check up I was asked if I wanted to get blood work done- I am not fond of needles but realized that I needed to get this done. I arrived for my 9am appt and had the blood work completed. Then I waited... and waited... and waited. 45 minutes went by- nothing. I recalled my last appointment in which I waited the same time. Dr Diaz likes to speak to her patients prior to exam- so I figured that someone had a long talk.. still waiting.. an hour later- I finally was told that she had an emergency c section and would be here soon. Another 10 minutes went by. I went looking to see if another doctor could see me- but no. Utterly disappointed that after fasting and moving around my work schedule - no one could accommodate me. No one truly cared. I received a call asking about my blood and what I wanted them to do with it..?? Really? I found out that they discarded my blood! Threw it away! Wow.. It was truly a wasted day at the doctor. read more

I was referred to Dr. Diaz at this practice in August. i had my first appointment with her and loved her. She is an excellent Dr. who makes her patients feel comfortable. However, the organization and customer service from the rest of the office is less than agreeable. I asked for medical records to be sent to my Primary Care and was told they were sent over. I got to my appointment at my Primary Care and the records have never been sent, we couldn't even go with my appointment without the records. I tried to call Dr. Diaz's office all day and they told me they were "too overwhelmed to help me". The second time I called the lady hung up on me. I was unable to make my PCP appointment and had to reschedule. Another reason I cannot stay with them is just to get a routine birth control shot, it takes about 30 minutes altogether in their office. Very inefficient. read more

When my job changed, so did my insurance and that means switching up some doctors in my life. This was actually ridiculously painless in all medical areas. To get a little "ahem" intimate, every lady needs a good lady doctor. With a chance phone call, I stumbled on the office of Carlos and Parnell. Dr. J. Carlos is such a nice man and you can tell he really cares about each of his patients! While some people may be embarrassed to have a man for a lady doctor, he is a true pro and very polite. He literally sat down and spoke with me for half an hour about something completely unrelated to my exam that I was having health concerns over and he also talked to me about my future. Even though he had been at the hospital since 3:30 in the ,morning delivering a baby, he still answered all my hypochondriac crazed questions. The entire staff is sweet and very friendly. They always have a ton of things to talk about and they are all so sweet. They were also able to schedule me for an appointment within 24 hours of me calling to ask if they were accepting new patients. That's nearly unheard of. They also use an online new patient admittance form so you don't have to fill out a stack of papers and waste time at your first visit. I highly recommend any of the doctors at this practice; I think they're all a great experience and informed team. And yes, bring cash. Parking costs you since it's at Medical City! read more

You can't ask for any better than these folks deliver. Dr. Parnell is the absolutely the very best OB/GYN I've been to in over 32 years, and that's saying a lot.!! I move to Dallas in 1986 and had has 3 miscarriages and one after moving to Dallas; I thought I would never have children until I started going to Dr. Parnell in 1988 I believe. Words will never express how I am so grateful to have Dr. Parnell as my Ob/Gyn doctor. I now have a 27 and 22 year old and 3 grandbabies, my oldest grandbaby was also delivered by Dr. Parnell. I am in my mid 50's and if could still have children, Dr. Parnell and his Daughter will delivery it. I love this family and there office family (Kaye is amazing). There has not been an appointment where I didn't feel at home. Nearly 30 years later and Dr. Parnell is still my Ob/Gyn and will be as long as I live. When I found out I was pregnant I was seeing a different obgyn, but I felt very distant from her and seeking a natural very specific birth plan (to keep from the experience I had with my first son) she just didn't seem very on board with it, I switched to one other dr who ended up being full and unable to take me as a patient. So finally at 28 weeks pregnant I found Dr. Wendy Parnell. She was VERY sweet and kindly told me that she was uncomfortable with my birth plan, a birth plan outside of stuck in stirrups was something she had never done before, so my husband and I were very lucky to find at 30 weeks pregnant a midwife at a birthing center. Here's my problem! When I left the office they called me telling me they forgot to give me my rhogam shot that I needed by 28 weeks because I am RH neg. They were so nice telling me to come back when I am in the area since I don't live close. I called to tell them I would come back, but I was told by a nurse to just wait til my sono they had scheduled, but I let her know then I wouldn't be coming in for that appointment since I was switching doctors. She got VERY rude at that point, telling me, "it's not really your place to make that decision to wait for your sonogram!" last I checked this was MY body and it most certainly is my place to make that decision! I was hung up on shortly after without being able to catch her name. I just received another phone call from the receptionist, "Hello, is this ___?....are you on your way to your appointment or not?" um, no I canceled the appointment over a week ago! "well why? Who did you tell that to? That's not how our office works! You really should have gotten her name!" The way they speak to their patients is unreal! Wendy Parnell is really sweet, and had she been for a natural birth plan, I probably could have looked past the rudeness, but no one deserves to be treated in such a manner just because they want to have their baby somewhere more comfortable for the mother! read more
