This butcher makes raw meat look so appetizing thanks to its clean displays. All meats are wrapped up in glad wrap and the display cabinet is kept simple and clean (no pink juices in sight), and it doesn't smell here either! They sell a good selection of fresh meats (mostly beef and lamb), they also have an amazing variety of pre marinated meats- such as bbq ribs, honey soy, herb encrusted and much more. Makes dinner easy as pie (they also sell family sized pies). This butcher is quite dear compared to other places, but the quality of the meat is very high so I suppose you pay for what you get.

My sister ordered the zucchini fritters, which came with two poached eggs. They were really good, especially with their a thousand island sauce. The second time I came here was to grab a sandwich to go. I love their sourdough bread, and the sandwich had the multigrain bread. It was tomato based, so no cheese, and had grilled eggplant and mushrooms and spinach. It was very tasty, and even more so if you get it lightly toasted.

We loved the space. It's bright and airy with plenty of room to spread out. A small thing, but I loved that there is seating with decent cushions instead of hard, flat immovable surfaces. Also, whoever chose the music playlist really knows their stuff. The music playing throughout was fabulous. We were advised that there is a new menu offered here now and that the chef has over 15 years experience overall and has been in Australia 6 years. The menu looked contemporary and very interesting: we quickly selected the corn fritters and the Tunisian baked eggs. We were knocked out by the sheer quality of both dishes. It's beautiful food. The corn fritters were with smoked salmon and poached eggs. They're lovely fluffy fritters with great flavour including a fascinating hint of spice. Ditto the gorgeous baked eggs. These are the best I've ever had. The previous best were those at Jerry Joy in Thornbury but these topped those to my astonishment. They are rich and substantive again with delicate hints of spice. And, whoever decided to add the slice of lemon is a visionary too. The acidity is just beautiful with the dish. We finished with coffee and red velvet cake. Both were wonderful again. The coffees were expertly made, a real Melbourne coffee. The cake was excellent too. Lovely, tasty and moist. The perfect finish. This was an unexpectedly great meal. We loved the place, the food and the service. The world's most stunning woman and I commented to each other that this was a pretty much the near perfect brunch. Put Servery and Spoon in the inner suburbs and they'd be fighting off customers and have lines around the block. It was that good. Finally, I'm conscious that I'm giving another 5. This is another case of not having the capacity to give a half mark. A 4.5 would have been optimal, but a 4 far too low. In those circumstances, there's no option but to choose the higher mark. This little bakery cafe is just around the corner from my brother's house, and I frequently find…read moremyself popping in here with my brother's little girl (my 4 year old niece) for hot beverages. For me it's always a soy flat white. They make an ok one here. When in my own neighbourhood of Brunswick East, I like to get my flat white from Padre so that's some tough competition. My niece is fond of hot chocolates and she always seems pretty pleased with herself when she's drinking one from Clancy's. She has also manipulated me with all her cuteness and sweet talk to buy her many a smiley faced mini meringue, which make her go a little crazy but I can't help but give in. She picks off the smarties that make up the eyes then eats the rest in the most messy way she can. Let this be a warning to people coming in here with kids - there is a very attractive display cabinet full of sweet things that look irresistible to children, do not let them see it. The Clancy's ladies are very accommodating and lovely and will always have a friendly little chat with my niece, which makes me like them even more.

Colonial Fruit Co is a bit of a godsend for decent fruit and veg…read more Im not the type to frequent farmers markets, and usually rely on getting all my stuff from the supermarket. Quite often though, the quality and range of the supermarket fruit and veg is.... well... lacklustre. Colonial is right next door to my regular supermarket, so anything I cant find in my regular shop, I pop by here afterwards and fill in the gaps. The produce is fantastic, extremely fresh. They also have some deli items, like cheese, olives and smallgoods. Pricing in incredibly reasonable, some items even cheaper than at the huge chain store.
