I had read about this fair in Carman. I have never been to Ed Belfour's hometown. It was time for me to give it a try, which is less than an hour west of Winnipeg.
The fair's Web site stated that it would cost $15 to get in. I was hoping to find a ticket kiosk, but there wasn't one. So, I didn't pay.
It's a small fair. There was a petting area for kids to pet various animals, from rabbits to llamas. I enjoyed seeing everyone interact with them. You could even buy food to feed them.
I sat in the stands. and watched the equestrian skills competition with tweens and teens as participants. They were so skillful. I was impressed.
The midway where the rides and cotton candy wasn't up yet at noon. I was disappointed over the latter. I wanted cotton candy so badly!
Instead, it was lunchtime for me. I went with cheddar perogies, as I was in Manitoba. They came with bacon, fried onions, and sausage. I asked to hold the sour cream. They were delicious. The local church made them. Authentic goodness, as expected!
I had a good experience. There were a few vendors. I bought a pair of earrings and a seashell necklace. It was cash-only. Thank goodness I had cash!
