All she had to do was make me a single copy and stamp it??? If you're going to work for the public and get paid by tax dollars and be the point of contact at the department when a citizen goes in and seek services we expect a little more! Moving forward, they also denied me the public records. I was asking even though it's not part of an investigation. I mean the transparency, what are they hiding or ashamed of that they were saying behind closed doors??? The people are watching and expect you to do better and hold the PD to higher standards!!!

I'm not from the area and was lost more than a few times in the city, but anytime I needed any sort of guidance or information I never felt vexing to the pleasant officers. I know there are some negative reviews on here about them but I'm sure they are just trouble makers and who didn't get their way. All in all, I can safely say that this department in particular made me feel safe and welcomed in their beautiful, elegant, and historical city.

I have seen inside the jail where the police bring in the drunks from the community. Rather than showing respect, some of the officers just laugh at them in front of their face. Not a good thing when the poor victim is suddenly placed in an unfamiliar place and about to be locked up in a cage. They can be really rough at times with the detainees. At times they may need to be aggressive if the detainee is resisting. But oftentimes they need to be less aggressive. My friend was once hired to entertain at the annual Christmas party. He called the day before to verify, and the officer who hired him started yelling at him and told him he is not to come. Thus being cancelled without being properly notified in advance. Another friend who worked there was suddenly fired because he had a medical condition affecting his performance. They sent five police cars to his house to tell him he was terminated. They took all his police gear and treated him rudely. The neighbors were all concerned with all the cars. They only needed to send one car. Be cautios dealing with this place.

I asked them what their RAS was and they claimed trespassing. So I left while they were talking to me threatening to cage me. If you back all the way out from the experience and look back: citizen minding his business, LEO stops citizen to say 'you have to leave' while citizen was trying to leave... see the logic yet? I asked 'Can I do that?' They say 'Do what?' I say 'Leave?' They say ' No ' ...... These were people hired by Monterey County. People who can't see their own actions, who don't realize they created a problem for them to solve. Is that called job security? I'd file a complaint but we all know how that's going to unfold. They are not bright enough individuals to police themselves.

Big Thank you to Sergeant Kelly, Officer Lawson, Chief Ron Langford, Sergeant Joseph Quilenderino…read more (If I missed anyone, or wrote your name or rank incorrectly, just let me know please). This is for Del Rey Oaks Police Department. I think their police vehicles can also say something like "Presidio of Monterey Police." I had different interactions and communications with the Officers. A couple I actually met just at different gas stations. One - I got pulled over (Oops sorry!). And also when I called in to ask some questions and get some info. I initially thought these police were Seaside, but eventually found out they are DROPD. What impressed me about this Department and the Officers is that they are: Professional Friendly Willing to be friendly to the community and talk to people Willing to look into each situation in detail Caring I didn't meet all the officers at the same time (don't worry - I didn't try to steal a Kombucha drink or anything). This was over the course of about 6 months. * A couple days ago, my family went with my dad to the hospital and talked to an Oncologist for the first time. He has advanced stage 4 incurable lung cancer. One aspect I regret is that our family put a lot of money and work into dad and mom's "retirement home." Now, all the remodeling has halted. We won't have money to both take care of dad and continue with the house. The remodeling had gone on a year already. It's a really old house. I was thinking about how sad that was that dad may never - or will only shortly - enjoy the house we intended for him in Seaside. I always try to think about positive things, or the silver lining. So I wondered if there was anything dad enjoyed in our move to the Monterey Area. Then I thought, "Oh yeah, my dad got to experience a really friendly and nice Police Dept." I'm not being sarcastic at all. Our family didn't expect it - but we were really pleased and lucky to come into an area with such a great Police Dept. So this result for my dad motivated me to finally write this review. I was going to earlier - I just... you know, life is so busy. So to sum it up: Big Thanks to Del Ray Oaks Police Dept & Presidio of Monterey Police for being so awesome and kind to the community. We really felt the effort these Departments and Officers took to go the extra mile. If my dad dies soon (and I think he will - unfortunately), I'm going to think about this whole big move we made to Seaside. And I will think, "Dad got to live in an area with really nice Officers (even though we never finished the house for him)." And I'm OK with that. I write this with a lot of gratitude. Thank you Officers.
