Drove from PINNACLE PEAK & I-17, for Posole and chicharones. This was my go-to place. The cashier went back to get what I needed and put it in the bag. I get home, there's no cilantro and onions, and no red salsa. I called; and they hung up on me 5 times, and then left the line on so I would get a busy signal. I don't recommend. I came here for lunch after seeing a post on Instagram, it looked really good! It's a location near old town Peoria, easy parking. I got three tacos, al pastor, carnitas, and carne asada. All three were excellent, wonderful flavor and sooo much meat in each taco! The salsa was very good (I should have asked for extra), and the al pastor was maybe the best I have ever had. Great place, wonderful looking meat case, friendly people. I will be back! read more

First time today to make carne asada. I wish I came a day sooner so I could have let it sit and marinate, but still delicious. The carne asada was totally worth it. The marinade with onion and oranges gave it a great flavor. Also bought tortillas Sonora- very tasty. I also want to try other items- the bistec pollo looked so good. It's good. It's not finger licking good but it's close to my house and I needed to throw a barbecue fast. The chorizo was just okay but the marinated chicken was pretty tasty. I spent $200 on 10lbs of ranchera, 5lbs of chicken, 2lbs of chorizo. We also got already made rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa and some chicharrón lonja. Three sodas, some limes, tortillas and avocado. They don't carry ice either so keep that in mind. Overall, the meat was okay. Will I go back? Yeah. Will I recommend? Probably not. Being from Sonora this has been the worse meat I've eaten. It was old and it smelled like it was old and bad. What a shame first and last time shopping there. It was a nice little place that had everything I needed. I was assisted by their friendly staff and their salsas were delicious!

I just left this place this morning. Wanted to purchase tortillas and the first two packages I picked up had mold. The other packs expired today, so I passed. Wanted to make chicken carnitas and Carne Asada. Requested 2 lbs of chicken and 2 lbs of Carne Asada. No Carne Asada out front, so he had to go in back to retrieve. No price posted for the Cane Asada. He put in 2.8 lbs instead of 2 lbs requested. Come on, you couldn't get closer to 2 lbs? No excuse to upsell that much. Carne Asada does not disappoint. We decided to let the steak marinade overnight. Hubby grilled it medium rare. It was tender and flavorful. It was tangy, we grilled the onions separately. It had the perfect amount of spice and salt. Because of the Yelp reviews, I went back this afternoon. Sadly, they sold out of guacamole. I did pick up salsa verde and pick de gallo. Both were good with our carne asada nachos. We will be back. Next time on Saturday morning so we won't miss the guacamole. Tip: The price of the carne asada is now $7.99/lb. The butcher went into the locker, cut the flank steak fresh, poured the marinade in a bag, added the meat, and everything is super fresh! read more

Meat is always fresh and everything they sell tastes good! They sell Birrea and it's my new fav. Thing to buy every week. All their salsas are always fresh. And they also have other things you need to make dinner any day of the week. This is one of the only good things Peoria has to offer because everything else is lacking. My GO TO for carne asada!!! It's a bit pricey but so worth it!! They bag it up in a marinade and I take it home to grill several hours later for street tacos, also love their pico de gallo!! I recommend this place to all my friends!! read more

Went in to purchase some carne asada ranchera, while talking to the butcher I told him this was for my daughter's birthday. He then went in the meat locker and brought out a fresh piece of beef and then fresh cut the whole order. He put the meat and marinade in a bag so everything would be ready to go to the grill. Grilled up the meat and it was great. Also bought some fresh chorizo, that he just finished making. It was excellent as well. The place was clean and all food looked well prepared and stored. Service was excellent and the people working were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to people looking for fresh Mexican style meats. read more

I was introduced to good Carne Asada in my early twenties and have spent a good portion of my adult life strategically locating the best Carneceria's (in my humble opinion) in various Valley cities. I have found that when we find ourselves hanging out with random friends in the spur of the moment unplanned get together. The kind of days where everyone involved just wants to have a few drinks and there are no grand ambitions of venturing out into the world. During some point the subject of food is going to pop up. As a big fan of margaritas and Mexican food I always attempt to steer the dining choice this way. Honestly Food City does a decent job but I feel like a great Carneceria where the owner actually shops for their meat says something about the meat you are buying. This Carneceria Sonora is easily the most solid Carneceria I have tried in Peoria. I have purchased here many times and I never hesitate to come back here. read more
