How does a butcher tank several 5 Star experiences down to a 1 star? I'm simultaneously pissed and bewildered! Paid $58 for 2 range fed, bone in, ribeye today. I've had them before, and they melt in your mouth. However, today, after grilling them with a Meater probe, they were tough as a $5 cut of meat from WalMart. INEXCUSABLE! We try to buy all of our meat at a butcher and not the grocery store. Our normal beef butcher is in Wickenburg and we needed some beef without the drive so decided to check out Troub. The place is clean and customer service was beyond friendly. I like they offer more than just beef. We decided to try The Big Deal which had chicken, ground beef, steak and pork chops. It's a great deal at $65 for all that! Unfortunately, I feel like the quality of the beef lacks. The steak was cooked medium rare like we always do and it was SO tough. The chicken and pork chops were okay. Nothing good or bad to say. The ground beef had a lot of gristle and fat. We might try for a different cut of steak and give them another try in the future. read more

I ordered several of their meat packages (see website). It took a couple of days and some of the items were out of stock and I had to come back for. Very reasonably priced for a butcher shop serving fresh meats. They have a variety of other items as well such as dog treats, hot sauce, breads, etc..., and the place is very clean. The meats so far have been fantastic. Very large portions of briskets and beef ribs. The service was fantastic and the butcher helped me load my car with all of the meats I purchased. I will keep going here as my go-to butcher. read more

We visited this shop once before in seek of a good butcher shop and found it to be one to try. So, we revisited in hopes of making a purchase. The staff, Chad, Shandra, and Manny treated us like family. We purchased "The Dinner Planner $165", which consisted of 4 lbs. ground beef, 5 lbs. any round roast, 2 ranch steaks, 4 pork chops, 4 chicken breasts, and 2 lbs. pork bacon. Since it was a few days before the 4th of July, they were out of chicken breasts and Chad was very apologetic and asked if we could return the next day. The shop is very clean. They have a wide variety of just about all cuts of meat. What also caught our eye was the products for dogs. Both of our kids have dogs, but one lives in New Hampshire and the other in Austin, TX. So, we asked if they would ship out any of their products and they replied when they first opened, the manager tried it but it became too costly. We were hoping to send a meat pkg to our kids as well as for their dogs. I cooked the bacon we purchased and we LOVED it! We decided to purchase all of our meats from this shop from this point on vs Costco or Sam's. As soon as we purchase another freezer...we will be purchasing one of the range-fed beef cuts and the whole pig pkgs. They are local, convenient, professional and will answer any questions. I went here for the first time today! They had a really impressive cooler full of, well, meat. I am excited to try the flatiron steaks I got today. I was immediately greeted upon entering and the owner helped me pick two great looking steaks. The price wasn't cheap, but not much more than the local grocery store. The truly awesome moment came when I asked for some ice to help keep the steaks cold while I drove home about 45 minutes away. He said they didn't have any ice. However, without missing a beat he went to the freezer and grabbed a two-pack of frozen hamburgers, which was a great frozen substitute!! He said it's your first time in, so it was a thank you gift! Thought I'd try this butcher out cause I'm always looking for a good butcher, and this one was recommended and not too far from me, boy was I misled I got a couple different cuts and it came out to about $60 which is fine for quality meat but this meat was anything but quality! One cut was brown on the inside and the other was super tough! Not sure if this was a fluke thing but meat like that should never be sold, I think I'll stick to Safeway when it comes to butcher needs read more

We were having a delicious breakfast at the Hole-In-One in Sun City West & I suggested to my wife let's look for some nice filet mignon from a butcher shop. My wife found Troub's not too far away. Little did we know that the owner of the HIO also owns Troub's. We selected a couple filets & they were out of this world. Great flavor & super tender. We have now discovered our go to place for the best in steaks. It was our first experience & Chandra wanted us to taste their ground beef on the house. Fantastic juicy burgers with great flavor. Very friendly business and even open on Sundays! I was picking up some steaks and hamburger meat. They had 80/20 all ready, but you can request a leaner mixture as well. With tots in tow I opted for what was all ready. They have so many options and move fast. Right now they have a lot of special celebrating their opening. I mean, you walk in and immediately smell a mix of smoked meat and marinade. Not overpowering but just right, makes you want to dig in! The staff are super friendly and service oriented, owner is usually there, greets you with a smile. Gets grass-fed grass-finished beef with organs - heart and liver, maybe others if the demand is there - from a local rancher every two weeks as long as people keep coming. I am a big fan of local butchers. So I was happy to hear about Troub's. Went in Friday and got four NY Strips and some breakfast sausage patties. Both were really good. Went back Saturday and tried the Brisket Burgers. They were outstanding!!! I also got some of the fresh Dog Food. Which turned Kevin and Daisy into BIG Troub's fans. Call it what it is. A great Family run local Butcher Shop that has fresh Prime meat from Arizona. They know their meats! LOL All cuts available as I have purchased myself, Bone in Ribeye a Tri-Tip, 4lbs of fresh ground chop meat (Special $2.99 a lb) and a few Hatch Chili Brats for lunch today on my grill. Next trip I plan to buy some big Beef Ribs to Smoke as I'm unable to get in the local Supermarkets. Prices seem to me reasonable for Prime Beef. Simply the best butcher here in the Surprise area. I've visited two times now and both were above and beyond. The staff is amazingly friendly and they even remembered me from my first visit a few weeks prior. They have a great selection of beef cuts amongst other items, like pork, chicken and sausages. The ribeye and baseball steaks here are our favorite and the prices are very fair. All of the meat that I've tried from Troub's so far has been tender, delicious and high quality.
