Although she is knowledgeable about alternative modalities, she is incredibly unprofessional, combative, insensitive and dismissive. Though she was able to help me when I first started seeing her, the visits were always stressful and she kept me waiting for an inordinately long time in the waiting room. I paid $200 for Toxic Metal Provocation Testing and, when I asked for the results, Dr. Carol Harracksingh told me I had to pay an additional $250 to get the results and the alleged accompanying treatment plan! Dr. Harracksingh did not tell me in advance there would be an additional $250 cost to get the test results; if she had, I would have DECLINED the test. She has repeatedly refused numerous requests to give me and or my primary doctor the results; this is medical misconduct and may even be illegal. I paid for the test and the results belong to me, not Dr. Harracksingh. I filed a complaint with the NYS Office of Professional Medical Conduct and was just informed they can't help due to time limits. I have even been unable to garner the name of the laboratory that did the test from Dr. Harracksingh or any of her staff. If Dr. Harracksingh cared about the Hippocratic Oath she swore to uphold, she would have faxed the results to my doctor, shortly after the test results were reported to her, so he could have interpreted the results and provided the treatment I needed. I switched to Dr Harracksingh mid-way through my pregnancy after a negative experience with my first OB. I really like her, she is pragmatic about my care as well as being emotionally supportive. I simply have to put my two cents in here. There have been a few bad reviews of Dr. Harracksingh and I have to say that they definitely do not represent the level of care that she gives her patients. I have had Dr. Harracksingh as my doctor since 1994 when I was pregnant with my second child. She delivered three out of my four children and I have had nothing but excellent care from her. Yes, her bedside manner can seem abrupt, but she is no nonsense, telling you exactly what you need to do or not do. There can be a longer wait times at her office sometimes, but that is because she is taking the time to actually talk to her patients, to find out what is going on with them exactly and figuring out how to best personalize their care. She really does take the time and listens to you, something that a lot of doctors do not do these days. She has moved into new offices and has new people staffing her office who are all very nice, friendly and professional. I have never had a problem with them once. I am now going through menopause and Dr. Harracksingh has literally given me my life back. I was not sleeping at all, constantly fatigued, having hot flashes, being in a bad mood (or as I tend to classify it - being a bitch on wheels 24/7), having trouble concentrating and gaining weight regardless of how much I worked out or how little I ate. I was fed up with myself and hated how I felt and how I acted. Dr. Harracksingh listened to me and has personalized a course of action that in three months has me sleeping like a log, feeling better, no longer do hot flashes bother me, I am no longer on edge all the time AND I have begun to slowly lose the weight (25#s) that I put on over the past two years. The truth is it depends on what you're looking for and need in a doctor. I have no qualms about Dr. Harracksingh experience and expertise. She is more than competent. Excellent medically. You simply can't mind how it's delivered and what will come with it. She is not a hand holder. She can be very condescending & make you feel like an idiot. She is moody and easily agitated. She does not like to be confronted with any of the imperfections of her staff or forever behind schedule. If she doesn't like what you're saying on the phone she will hang up on you. I am first going to start my review by stating that this experience happened 4 years ago! I was referred to Harracksingh from my primary care. At first I thought she was great, although there were some nasty blow out fights in the office. When I gave birth to my daughter in 2006 the experience was both horrible and not one I will ever forget. I went in for my weekly appointment on the morning of the fifth. At around 10 am Dr Harracksing told me to go to Hudson Valley that it was a slow day in the maternity ward and they had room to induce me unless I wanted to wait another week(She was 3 days late). I decided to go. By 11 am they had administered the pitocin and I was barred from eating any food. 5 pm rolled around and I did not start contracting at all. I had to stay in the hospital and was allowed only icees to eat. I could not sleep that night since they had the baby monitor on me and everytime my daughter moved the loud alarm would go off. The next morning (roughly 9 a.m.) they administered my second dose of Pitocin. This time the contractions started kicking in midday. Once again I was barred from eating anything. The pain was so intense and I went ahead with the epidural. It wore off within two hours and Dr. Harracksing would not let the anthesologist top me off. I heard him yelling at the nurses saying that there was no reason to do that. By 7pm I was 8cm dialated. The Dr. Had me start pushing saying that I could probably push through the last 2 cm. My daughter wouldn't budge. They began to try everything, including suctioning her out. Nothing worked. By 8 pm I was exhausted and I felt like I couldn't breathe. Between not eating for two days or sleeping I physicall was at my limit after an hour of pushing. Dr. Harracksingh started yelling at me and threatening to leave saying that if I wasn't going to try that neither was she. Ultimately she ended up leaving the room. By 9:30 the midwife came in. She was very good and the baby was delivered at 9:54. Once my daughter was delivered they had some complications due to their negligance (I wont go into details). I had problems with their billing policies and inability to get answers a lot of times about it. I been billed wrong multiple times. i had to spend a lot of times on the phone. As for a last incident which ended up my history of being their patient was their demand for me to come for a visit just to extend same simple pills i've been using for years, and bill me $225 in a way that my insurance is not covering it - just for doctor not really looking at me and writing a prescription? i tried to fight this charge for months until they push me into collection. this is it. last money they got from me. switched to other much friendlier and efficient office and will never go back. read more

I have seen Dr. Harracksingh over 11 years since my first son was born. She was really great through the birth of my first and second son. However, in the past few years, things have gone awry and I'm sorry to say, I would definitely NOT recommend her for the following reasons: 1. I was billed by Columbia Presbyterian for $169 for some pathology work from a year ago. I faxed her office the bill and they said they never got it though I have a transmission report. I have to resend and follow up and who knows if they will resolve this bill. 2. Last time I was there Dr. Harracksingh tried to schedule me to do some wellness tests which had nothing to do with my gynecological health and I have no idea beyond netting more fees for this, why she would get me to come back again for something beyond her field and for which I had no interest. Also, my iPhone was stolen at the reception desk. When I searched for it and returned to the office, no recovery of the phone. 3. When I asked to have my records forwarded by fax, I was told I needed to send in a written request. I did so and then was told Dr. Harracksingh does NOT forward records by fax and she charges 75 cents per page for any records prior to one year ago. You have to GO INTO HER OFFICE to get your records. 4. Lastly, I never brought this up because I had been happy with Dr. Harracksingh in the past, but when I gave birth to my second child, her midwife was arguing with the nurse and there was a lot of tension between them while I was in labor. I found that to be very unpleasant. In short, look elsewhere. I never post reviews but I feel compelled to warn others. read more

I went to Harracksingh for a menstrual problem, and she asked me to do couple of ultra sounds and 6 blood withdrawls. She asked me to come back in a week to discuss the results. I spent 100's of dollars for the blood tests and scans that week. Even the lady at the hudson valley hospital where the doctor asked me to do the scan mentioned, she dont know why there is a need for two scans, where one is sufficient. Finally, the end result, doctor came in 1 hour late on the appointment date and she spend 3 minutes standing in the corridor and discussed the results. Overall, they are money oriented and want to you visit them more and more just to charge your insurance. They hardly care about your concerns or questions during the visits. I have been a patient of Dr. Harracksingh for over a dozen years. During this time, I have watched her evolve her OBGYN practice into an integrative health practice as well, which treats the whole person and gets to the substance of an issue and not just treating the symptoms. Nasty office staff; calls are answered with an attitude, the doctor takes up to two weeks to return your call; and worst of all, there is a serious bait-and-switch going on in this office. If you go for one issue, you are told you need all kinds of testing and to see the doctor in her "other practice"... one that coincidentally takes NO insurance and all of the visits and testing are out-of-pocket and thousands of dollars. You are not told up front that this is not covered testing, so only when the bills come do you find out. The doctor is abrupt, rude, and very pushy. While she seems knowledgeable, she talks over your heard with acronyms and testing that is not familiar, and is unwilling to take the time to explain what she means or is doing. Twice while there I was taken into another room by the nurse and testing was performed on me without an explanation of what it was or what it would cost. When I asked I was told, "The doctor will explain it," but when I asked the doctor, she said, "My staff will explain it." Horrible, rude, unethical office. read more

i lost my job in march of 2016 and had to subscribe to medicaid with empire bcbs plus. my wife wasn't feeling well and her regular ob/gyn didn't accept our new coverage so she googled dr's accepting medicaid and found carol harracksingh in yorktown,ny. she called the office to confirm our coverage and arrived for her appointment the next day. having given a urine sample and undressed in the treatment room she was approached by a staff member to confirm her coverage id. they discovered it was medicaid upon which time dr harracksingh came in to my wife to say they don't accept medicaid and that she should try going to a neighboring town. the dr then left to address her staff in earshot of everyone in the facility and began screaming that she doesn't accept medicaid and tore up my wife's new chart. my wife was mortified by the unprofessional outburst. i felt so bad she had to suffer the indignity. the dr should treat her staff and patients with more respect. read more
