I guess I made sort of a distressed sound since the process of trying to get a counselor had been going on for weeks and had been very frustrating but she told me that she would look up our insurance and see if she could find any doctors that maybe we hadn't heard of before and would text that information to me. She texted it less than an hour and a half from my phone call and I was sincerely surprised because literally do I do not usually speak to such nice people and then they do me a favor, a big ask, without even me being their customer. To be honest on my very first phone call we were able to get a therapist and we have an appointment with next week, and an appointment a week for the next month. I felt that Iris went way above and beyond for somebody she didn't even know and those are the kind of people that should be rewarded and thanked and normalized. Thank you Iris for all that you did, especially for a faceless stranger on the phone.

The appointment was set for 10:00 a.m. with Victoria Beltran, and all paperwork was completed online in advance to avoid any delays. We arrived on time and waited for over 30 minutes. At approximately 10:35 a.m., the front desk staff, who was very kind,came out to inform us that Ms. Beltran was still in a meeting and that we would need to reschedule. This experience felt unprofessional and was a significant waste of time. More importantly, it has caused my teen to second guess whether she even wants to pursue therapy now, which is extremely discouraging given how difficult it already is to take this step.

I thought she would not have the training or life experience to be able to help. I WAS WRONG!!!! She has a great intuition; by which I mean that she knows when to listen and when to say something. She knows when to challenge your notions/thoughts and when to let you just vent. I have been going for over a year, and while my problems/failings/issues are still there, she is teaching me that I can deal with them. And, for me, I think that is the highest praise you can give any therapist.

And without a doubt, my overall experience with Scott Fish was the most disappointing, the most souring I've ever had with a therapist. It wasn't until months into our professional relationship that I finally caught onto Scott's true agenda. Let's just say I, the client, was never the number one priority when it came to my own therapy with Scott Fish. It truly blows my mind that there are people in this world who'll justify their actions and abuse their position of power to get what they want, however they can get it and betray a client's trust/confidence in the most abhorrent, despicable manner imaginable. And at the end of the day they're still able to look themselves in the mirror, pat themselves on the back and tell themselves, "What I did was not out of malicious intent!!!" It would seem unfair that I'm leaving a one star review for an entire establishment such as Hope and Healing Counseling Services, due to my experience with one therapist, but I stand behind my rating. This is because I reached out to Scott Fish's manager Vanessa and asked to speak to the owner about my grievances with Scott Fish. I was basically brushed off. I made it crystal clear I wanted to speak to the owner Ramon Hernandez. It's been months. Ramon never contacted me. What Scott Fish did with me has got to be the most damaging thing I've experienced in decades at the hands of a clinician, or anyone for that matter. It has significantly impacted my ability to trust in others. When I finally confronted Scott Fish about what he did, he snapped back real quick and said, "Well....! I didn't record anything...!!!" with a big shiteating grin on his face. All I can say to that is, when Scott Fish's same laptop he had open and active during every session, a "record" button doesn't need to be on in order for information during a confidential therapy session to be accessed by another entity. And curiously, he switched out his laptop to a different one when I confronted him again for our final session on December 2nd. I filed a formal complaint against him through his licensing board (Board of Behavioral Sciences).

The receptionist first takes all my details asking me to spell my name and provide my birthdate. That should be sufficient, right? Then, after a wait, she says she is transferring me to the scheduling person, so I wait. When this scheduling person answers, she AGAIN takes my name with spelling and my birthdate, says "please wait," and I find myself on hold again. Then it appears she has transferred me to a third person to handle what should have been a simple task by the FIRST individual. This person doesn't know why I'm calling, hasn't been briefed and starts querying me as to whom I already talked with!!! I was so angry that, while dealing with this recent death and all other matters, they made me play phone tag in trying to get me to someone who could simply cancel all my appointments. Will definitely tell Desert Oasis Healthcare that THIS is not a healthy provider to have as part of their behavioral therapy, since I do remember now it took them almost a month to get back to me initially to schedule my FIRST appointment. What a circus!!

I struggled with focus, task paralysis, and things I didn't fully understand until I finally had the right guidance. Dr. Torban has helped me better understand how my brain works, adjust my medications when needed, and navigate my mental health in a way that has truly improved my quality of life. I asked for a medication to help me relax so I could stay sober and I guess I looked at him wrong or something because he fired me as a patient that day. I was struggling very much and he treated me like a piece of trash. But God had other plans. I ended up finding a new PCP who listened and trusted me within weeks. That doctor gave me the meds I knew I needed and I have never drank alcohol again. I used those meds for 3 years into my sobriety and I now have over 10 years sober. Dr. Torban treated me badly and kicked me when I was down. I would never recommend him to anyone. He was the only psychiatrist in my area. He left me high and dry right after a major suicide attempt. People need to be treated with respect and dignity, and this man is a typical psych person who has a lot of his own issues.

She told me "you can find everything on our website". I asked if she could just explain the program a bit because the website was kind of vague. She then proceeded to tell me "maybe we aren't a good fit for you". I responded that I was simply asking for a run down for the program and if it was a big ask for me to do as a potential client. She finally decided to give me a run down on the program. I said I was interested and if I could be put down on the waitlist. She said it'd be 6-8 weeks. 6-8 weeks passed, not a single chirp. I called multiple times following up to see if I was soon to be up. Didn't hear anything back. Couldn't even get them to answer the phone and called multiple times throughout the day thinking I just tried at a bad time. Wasn't successful in getting them to answer the phone.
