Nice local store just around the corner from The Pepsi Store. Lots of artistic items available for purchase. Many unique items including watercolor art of New Bern landmarks, kitchen items, wall art and more. Most items are priced moderate to high price range. I found a watercolor image that I thought would make a good gift for a family member. The employees asked if it was a gift, then carefully wrapped it in tissue paper before doing an excellent job with the gift wrap. Was very impressed with the staff. They seemed to genuinely appreciate that I came to their store while in New Bern, and thanked me for supporting them with my purchase. read more

I've been shopping at Carolina Creations for a few years...it's one of my favorite stores to buy gifts for family or friends because they sell unique items. I love the original Christmas cards they sell and I've been sending them every year now for the past 4 years...to our friends and family, it's become a tradition to receive a "New Bern" Christmas card. Just the other day, I walked in to buy my grandmother a birthday present. This glass jellyfish hanging decoration piece would make a great gift for her. I mentioned to the sales clerk that she lived in New Jersey and that I'd take it over to the Post Office for shipping...she cheerfully told me there'd be no need and she could gift wrap and ship from the store. I was really impressed. Further, she provided a little card where I could write Happy Birthday Grandma. This is my favorite 'go to' store for presents, handmade jewelry and art. They have a huge selection and it is not the stuff you see everywhere else. They work with artists (owner is an artist) so your gifts are sure to be special! While their Christmas cards and gifts are wonderful, remember them for Valentines! They sell handmade cards, some by local school children. Each is a piece of art. I bought a wonderful painting for my office! I need to take a picture and post it. They also carry items made by 'Sticks', which I love! Hubby gave me a wonderful Stick's jewelry 'closet' for Christmas a couple of years back. It is a favorite piece. read more

Trust me when I say, leave all but one of your credit cards at home...like, maybe sign up for one of those prepaid cards with a low limit because when you get in here you're going to want to buy EVERYTHING! I first heard about this store with the prettiest things when my brother and sister in law came for a visit and brought my husband and I a house warming gift in the shape of an adorable metal dog that I named Spike. It just so happens that I was in Jacksonville last weekend visiting a friend and decided to ring up my brother and see if he was free for lunch. My bestie and I joined him and my s-i-l at Morgan's and after lunch strolled over to CC (they really shouldn't make this store so easily accessible). I found at least 20 things I wanted to buy, most of them blown glass but their selection is quite varied and what I like most is with every item you buy, you get a little background note on the artist, their location and history of their career. If I thought I could have slipped all the blown glass into my home without my husband noticing I would have cleaned them out but, alas, it was not meant to be. I did come home with the prettiest pink glass ring holder and a super neat jellyfish wind chime (also glass blown). The ladies were very pleasant and helpful. I recently made an online purchase through Carolina Creations to replace a pair of earrings that I lost. I found what I was looking for online and placed the order. It arrived very quickly! When the order arrived, it wasn't quite what I was looking for (they were smaller than I was expecting, but the quality of the product was excellent!). I called the store and they were able to help me resolve the issue in a timely manner. I ended up returning the earrings, but the staff were quick to follow-up with me via email and they provided great customer service. I will definitely order from Carolina Creations again! read more

I was running around town looking for a gift for a bride and groom that are friends with husbands not me. Needless to say I was clueless when it came to finding them a gift (I think a card and money is too impersonal) I was on my way to another little shop around the corner, when I came across this place. They have everything here, and most is made by local artisans (love that!) I enjoyed taking my time to really look at everything they had. Unlike other little shops where the staff hovers over you, they gave me my space, yet we're happy to help me with questions when asked. Some things unfortunately were way outta my budget. I know people need to make money off of their art, but it was a slight turn off. (Sorry) I did find a few things that made a unique and fun shower gift. They even wrapped it for free, saying it was "their gift to their customers". How sweet and cool is that?! I know I'll be back in the future. read more
