My gorgeous beadboard ceiling for our screened in porch! Thank you Carolina Customized Interiors!
    Shannon A.

I found Carolina Customized Interiors on Yelp- bonus that they are in Wake Forest...love keeping my business local! I had been needing/wanting a bead-board ceiling for my back screened in porch since we moved in and so I asked for an estimate and wait for it..... I actually got a call back, a scheduled visit for a free estimate, AND it was returned in two days. I was shocked since I have seriously, no lie, had three different people lined up to do an estimate and no one actually came through. Not only was Jeremy responsive, but the estimate was affordable. We decided to go with it! The job was scheduled for this past Monday. They guys showed up on time and ready to work. The job was done quickly and beautifully. They craftsmanship is impeccable, and literally the job they did exceeded my expectations. I had picked out a light blue for the bead-board and they got the color I wanted and also painted the finished work. I loved their work so much that I am having them do an estimate for some garage shelving we are interested in. When I told Jeremy what I was interested in, he sent me photos of other work he had done. I loved it! I really could not be happier with the work and am looking forward to a nice spring and long summer on my beautiful, screened in porch with the best looking ceiling in town! I have a feeling Carolina Customized Interiors will be in our lives for a while!

Jeremy and his crew were wonderful to work with. They did a fantastic job on my horrible outdated 1997 kitchen. I have a beautiful modern updated kitchen with a few very special custom items that I got to design myself. For instance I have a food and water station in the kitchen island for my fur babies with a cabinet above for their food and treats. I also got to design a coffee and wine area that holds all my wine bottles, mugs, teas and k- cups! The crew were polite, conscientious and clean (as clean as you can be in a work zone lol). I highly recommend CCI. They even finished my project 1 week and 3 days earlier than scheduled! What a great company and group of people. You can tell they love what they do and care about making their customers happy!

Our custom built mantel by Jeremy and Ian, which matches our crown molding.

I called after your visit, but you didn't answer, so I left a vm and text. Later in April, I called you and you answered that time. I asked about the estimate. You said that Danae had gotten my online inquiry and that she'd get back with. I stated that I wasn't trying to rush you and was patient because I want you to do the work. I reminded you that you said, "2 to 3 days (April 14) but it wasn't until April 24 that I got a concrete answer that you will not be doing the job. My contention isn't that you can't do the job, but that I wasn't given the courtesy to tell me that you weren't interested in providing the estimate nor would be able to do the job. If I hadn't called or inquired, I would never have gotten an answer at all. How could I give you a higher rating? You only came to look at the project. I can't grade you on quality, service or promptness because I have no reference point to go by. My review isn't harsh but simply stated as it happened. Danae seems to be the person who makes the decisions on which jobs to take. Maybe a conversation she be had with her if you don't want more reviews like mine.

My wife researched potential vendors and set up three appointments. Five Star Solutions arrived first, and after working with them for 20 minutes we both knew we would not need to talk to the other two vendors. They clearly explained every step of the process (including financing) and applied no upselling pressure. We scheduled the install, and when space appeared on their calendar they even contacted us to see if we wanted to start early. The two-person crew completed the job over two days, and we are completely satisfied with the results. There will be other projects in the future, and we know we will only need to make one call to schedule them.

I can honestly say from start to finish, this company made this process move along seamlessly. Brad came out for a very informative in-person consultation. He was very kind and literally answered every single question we had with ease. He knew his stuff, which in turn helped us make the decision to move forward with this project. We designed the entire shower before he left that evening. A few days later, we met with Bob, our project manager. He did some measuring, penciled in a date for the project, and went over the details of what to expect next. What a nice guy too! We were pleasantly surprised with the date being moved up a week earlier. Shauna kept us updated during the whole process. Her communication was on point. Our installers, Tyler & Ben, showed up on a Thursday morning to start the project. Talk about courteous & professional, these two guys were outstanding! They worked nonstop all day Thursday & Friday to get this done for us. They even made sure our mother had access to the bathroom if needed throughout both days. We are more than happy with the end result! Huge thanks to all of you at Five Star!!

Bathroom 1: Hall shower where the shower floor did not drain, leaving 2 gallons of water on the shower floor. The in-wall valve (rough in valve) made noise when the shower was in use. 36" x 36" corner shower. Greg tore out the old showers and started working on the plumbing. He added additional framing to accomodate the new tile, replaced the rough-in valve and some of the existing PEX piping to accomodate the new shower system. He framed out a new shower floor and reworked the floor to allow for great drainage. He water-proofed the backing and floor with the appropriate membranes and started laying the tile to ensure the look was even and straight... a real challenge in any 80 old home! Bathroom 2: Master tub / shower combo which had a recirculation system built into the tub. The mold coming out of the recirculation system was constant and no one wants to take a bath in algee / moldy water, despite numerous cleanings. Greg replaced the tub, old tile and installed a new rough-in valve for the shower. The old floors posed a challenge, but Greg made it work so that the tub was stationary, and installed correctly. The subway tile was installed on 3 walls of the tub, and new plumbing was installed using PEX / Sharkbite compression fittings. I wanted to work on painting the walls, as I am a lot of experience with drywall, flattening and correcting wall blemishes and paint. Overall, Greg to a great job. He overcame the challenges of the non-flat, non-perpendicular walls to ensure the tile lines were consistent across the walls. We worked through the project challenges and he even added a bathroom vent in to the Master bath for appropriate humid air venting. Even after months of use, I see that Greg cares how the tile looks and performs. Greg also installed 2 bathroom vanities (the sink / cabinet) and the associated faucets in both bathrooms. I am now enjoying the new showers, and am seeing the results of the showers actually being quiet! No more loud noises as people shower! The shower actually drains great, without any squeeging of the floor! Plus , they look absolutely fantistic. The vanities work and look great!

I hired Greg to renovate a half bath that had a toilet that leaked, damaging the sub floor and…read morehardwoods in the hall. The first red flag was Greg's cartoonish quote for work. Greg is a smooth talker and made it seem like it would all be good. He said payment would be due upon completion although there was no mention of this in the "contract." Turns out "Remove vanity and install custom vanity" means ripping out the large existing vanity, sink, and huge mirror and then popping down the pedestal sink THAT I BOUGHT. Period. Red flag #2: When I asked Greg about the massive drywall damage, he said "Is it in the contract?" The agreement does say he does not cover drywall repair, but this was literally left in a demo state. On Day 2, while the entire floor was ripped up with the crawlspace exposed, Greg asked me for a check. I said I planned to pay him with a credit card and it would take me a few days to move money around to give him the equivalent of cash. Day 3 he walked off the job claiming non-payment. After I calmly explained that I could not be in non-payment because no payment was due, Greg came back the next day like nothing happened... All of the insulations under the half bath was wet so it had to go. Greg did not want anything to do with replacing it. I went out and bought insulation and installed it myself. Either Greg or his plumber, Drew, cracked the first sink basin during install. Luckily Home Depot replaced it with no questions and Drew came back and installed the new one. Drew was actually great. I did all of the leg work for the return, so don't expect Greg to actually stand by his work or take responsibility for mistakes. Greg made it clear he does not do hardwood floor repair and I was fine with that. Turns out, my hardwood flooring guy discovered that there was a strange strip of plywood sub floor installed to fill a gap that was not actually supported. We found out why when he pulled it up. See photos. Don't expect structural repairs to actually connect to other structural members. Don't expect your tile OR subfloor to be level or flat. Don't expect a professional job.

Nonetheless, our contact person Madeleine and her crew came out to assess our foundation and cracks and some mold from the humidity in the crawlspace. In the end we went with mold remediation, a sump pump, new vapor barrier, joist lifts, and air sealing to keep out the creepy crawlies. Big ticket expense, but when compared to the competition, we went with them because of the thoroughness with the estimate interview and the willingness to answer all of our questions, they were also well-spoken of on other review sites including a popular large community message board, and the price was pretty comparable. Also, the crew was very good. My only ding would be was not putting the items in the crawlspace back in the order that it was originally, which saved space. But to add to their credit, we have one additional project that needs to be done outside of Little Corner's scope and the new company took a look at Little Corner's work and said "They did a very good job, this is how we would have done it." I think that speaks well of them as a whole. They may not be the biggest company, but they are professional, kind, and diligent about their work. Thank you, Madeleine and crew.
