Let me start this review with a quick background on my project. I contacted 4 contractors to…read moreprepare the land, pour the concrete pad and construct my 30X50 ft. metal building. Two of the contractors were unable to complete all parts of the project. The other two were $20-30K over my budget and would not commit on a start date much less an estimated finish date. One of the larger contractors increased the price 3 times before starting work! I had just about given up on finding an honest contractor that could do the work on my timeline and budget. I was given contact information for Carolina Customized Interiors (CCI) from a trusted acquaintance. After meeting with the Owner, Jeremy Payne and Project Manager, Sam Bernier I decided to sign with them, they agreed to my budget and included all the work required to finish the project in a professional manner. I signed the contract on Friday, the following Monday, Jeremy was on site with the machine to start preparation for the foundation. This was a new concept from my dealings with the four other contractions; they all seemed to over promise, over charge and under deliver. For the duration of the project CCI kept in close contact with me, any concerns or questions were addressed in short order. I was given daily updates and advised on the upcoming events. The CCI employees were always willing to go the extra mile to provide quality work. One example of the extent CCI employees worked an issue; the concert supplier had a factory problem that delayed the last 2 trucks of concrete. The CCI concrete team worked until 4:45 the following morning to insure the contract was finished to the highest standard. The high quality finish was commented on by my site building engineer as some of the finest work he had seen. I would recommend anyone looking for an Honest contractor with Integrity & Professionalism, that is on Time and on Budget contact CCI.

I'd like to begin my review of Carolina Customized Interiors by saying that we still owe $1000 of…read morethe final payment that is due upon completion of the work. Unfortunately, Jeremy asked and we agreed to pay most of the final payment prior to all the work being finished because we trusted him. That mistake is on us. Our home addition included an almost 800 sq ft, two story addition in which we hired CCI to complete. The project was scheduled to be completed on 2/26. I'm writing this review on May 14, and we still have work that is incomplete. We hired Jeremy because in our initial interview we felt that he stood behind his company both in standards of integrity and quality of work. The beginning of our project went pretty smoothly after we were finally issued a permit to begin building. There were some initial hiccups that we were not prepared for (such as increased cost of lumber and extra steel beams for support) but we felt that Jeremy was up front and honest about those issues. Several months into the project the siding company made a delivery, which Jeremy was not present for, and ended up driving a piece of machinery over the water line in our front yard. The water line was cracked and with Jeremy's help the company reimbursed us for the cost of damages. The end of our project is when things really started to decline. Work that we could see being done on the inside was not up to quality standards and was starting to get rushed for what we later realized was an effort to move onto his next job. After Jeremy deemed this project 'complete' his crew spent 3.5 weeks touching up and fixing work that was not satisfactory. Even after that, there were still areas that did not receive attention. There was just too much to do and too much that was not done right in the first place. The following sums up just a few examples: -Wainscoting in our sunroom had many imperfections such as nail holes not filled, compound not sanded off before painting, and nicks and scratches in the wood. After reviewing this with Jeremy his response was, "Yeah, it's not my shiniest work." One member of the team spent 5 days touching this work up to make it look better. This was after Jeremy initially said the room was complete, they cleaned it and asked us to do a final walkthrough. Today it's still not perfect, just better than it was. -Outside trim on new addition has unsanded compound on every nail hole the entire way up to the roof. Painter painted this though it was not ready. -Brand new inside trim on some doors and windows not in the greatest shape. Nicks and scratches with some nail holes not filled in. -Paint on the walls looks blotchy in some areas due to the type of paint used and so many touch up areas. -Crown molding in our sunroom has a wavy appearance in at least two areas. -Two of the three sunroom doors are hard to turn the handles and deadbolts due to how they were installed. -Riprap was installed to help with a drainage issue that we have. My husband sent Jeremy a picture of what we wanted this to look like and they discussed hand placing some of the rocks so that it was formed into a ditch. Rocks were laid in a flat pattern and now it acts more as a barrier. We discussed this with Jeremy and added it to the list of things that needed attention. Jeremy's response, "It's done and we aren't touching it." -LVP flooring is lifting up in the sunroom which per his contract would be under warranty. He refuses to address it. -Our dryer has dents on the top from Jeremy jumping on it to take pictures of a cabinet. Never told us he did this, we had to dig around for information to find out how it happened. -Our new bathroom vanity is scratched on the top in several places due to tools being put on top of it while working. They tried to buff it out but it's still scratched. As mentioned, these are just some of the items. We split our punch list into two sections and sent them to him. One side were the items we'd given up on stating he didn't have to fix and the other side was necessary to fix before the rest of our final payment. Jeremy has called it quits on the project and no one from CCI has been here in over 3 weeks. He does not respond to our texts or emails. We asked several times to find a way to work out a solution to some of the issues we still had. We offered to talk via zoom, in person or over the phone. He would not respond. I'm including pictures of the work that CCI completed at our house and I feel they are a more accurate assessment of the quality mentioned above.

But almost immediately afterward, the cabinets started bubbling and peeling--despite the owner claiming they were solid maple. I reached out to the owner repeatedly, and he ignored every single message. Only after dragging my contractor into (Reno-Pro) it did he finally bother to call me back. His excuse? That the damage was my fault because the cabinets are supposedly only meant to be cleaned with a dry cloth. If that's truly the case, why on earth would he recommend them for a kitchen? And why did he originally tell me they were solid wood? After several attempts to get answers--plus leaving a negative review--he reluctantly replaced a few doors. He even showed up with his secretary, who parroted his claims despite never being part of any previous conversation. A year later, the exact same problems are back. The cabinets are bubbling everywhere: top, bottom, sides--you name it. The quality is absolutely unacceptable. If these cabinets can't withstand basic, minimal cleaning, the owner should have been honest from the start. I would have gladly paid more upfront instead of now facing the cost of replacing my entire kitchen. This company is interested only in making a sale, not in providing a product that lasts. Save yourself the headache. Do not support this business. You get what you pay for--and in this case, what you get is complete garbage.

I had them come and redo my kitchen years ago and I just called on them again to do our bathrooms. When I spoke with Ted, he remembered me (that never happens) and told me that David would reach out to me to schedule and sure enough, David called quickly afterward. We were able to put something on the books for the very next week and now I have beautiful cabinets! Also, when David came to take measurements, he checked out our kitchen, noticed a slight blemish with one of the seams and told me he would fix that too- without skipping a beat! The best part was the professionalism. Somehow, the night after the install, there was a leak in one of the new cabinets. Not only was David quick to respond, but he told me he would do whatever it takes to make it right. You just don't see this kind of customer service anymore. David and his crew were quick, super nice, fixed the leak, tore out the sheet rock, called a sheetrock repair guy and painter to come out and complete the job free of charge. I could not be more grateful and happy that I found these guys. When we move into our next house, I know that I will be calling these folks again. They have me for life. We chose the J&K Dove White "E" line. Apparently this is the J&K budget line, but you would be hard pressed to find anything budget about them. They look beautiful and have a good solid feel to them. Any little adjustment that had to be done was done and made to look as if it was all there from the beginning. David wanted to take pics when he was done, but I wanted him to wait until the whole kitchen was done because it didn't do the cabinets a justice to not see them in a finished kitchen. Rest assured, we will have him come back when it is all done to take pictures to really show how nice these cabinets are. I would absolutely recommend them for your next cabinet job!

They did a major renovation for us in late 2016 (including new kitchen, taking walls down in an upstairs bedroom to make it an open space, installing installing railings, painting and more), and have followed up with several additional projects over the years - a new deck and patio with fire pit (2018), master bathroom renovation (2019) and installation of interior doors to add separation for an additional office space (2020). All of the work looks just as good today as when it was newly completed. Jonathan closely supervises everything that's done to ensures that it is a consistently high quality at a very reasonable price point. I hired K Alexander Kitchen and Bath Designers to renovate my kitchen. I had formica Laminates but wanted to update my counters to Quartz. I'd interviewed other companies but thought with a design firm, it would be less stress, a one-stop shop, and they would do the heavy work for me. I've not had the best success with renovations. Being a single female, it is common knowledge that we are usually victims of predators, and for those experiences, I don't go half-cocked but try to be as informed as possible. Even doing due diligence, I still found myself in a 4 month nightmare. They subcontracted with Natural Gallery Stone Kitchen and Bath, and it was an absolute nightmare. I expressed strongly to them that I was having Ankle replacement surgery September 3 and wanted to have it done prior. We discussed this in the latter part of April and began in May. I have been without a working kitchen since then. It wasn't money because I paid upfront and in full. Natural Gallery took their sweet time. The fabrication was terrible, the hole for the faucet wasn't centered and the stone's sheen was inconsistent. It was a high gloss stone but the fabrication caused matte, rough and inconsistent textures. Not to belabor the problem but I was so stressed that I became ill. I thought that I would still be without counters, a sink or a finished product that it flared my Lupus. I was washing my dishes in the bathroom. I literally prayed and was directed to The Countertop Factory. I'd just left a company on Glenwood Ave that I was unavailable, detached, and wouldn't return calls. I sat in a gas station parking lot crying. I Googled Countertop installers, and right down the street is The Countertop Factory! I spoke to a lovely person named Haven. Haven was empathetic and kind. I met with her the very day. I was shown stone and different edges. I also met Nick and Erick. We came up with a game plan. Within 2 weeks of my initial meeting, I have a beautiful kitchen that I'd still be waiting for with the other company. Chris and Michael came today and meticulously installed the cabinets. Every effort to detail was met. Wes is a supervisor. He is direct but considerate. I was so nervous about the job but he promised to take care of me and he did just that. It I'd hard to find companies that care. Workmanship, craftsmanship, and pride are a thing of the past in most cases, but I was blessed to have found a company that puts their customers first, and their reputation for excellence is well earned. The cost is worth every penny because you get what you pay for. If it seems like I am gushing, it is because I am. I highly recommend them! I appreciate everything that this company and the staff has done for me.

Of course, I was leery of using them to fix the problem. I have owned 3 newly built houses in my lifetime and have never seen a sink fall. I hired a different company to reinstall the sink. I contacted Eric at Countertop and sent him pictures and told him I was having a different company reinstall the sink. Eric contacted the owner and Countertop agreed to pay all my expenses in reinstalling the sink and reconnecting the plumbing. All I can say is the company did the right thing for me. Give them a chance.

I was asked on Monday when they arrived if we could find somewhere to stay or a couple of days. Originally we had planned and discussed us staying in the house. This was a good call to leave. But after a week Clinton texted me to come check out our ceilings as if he was done. We'll they were a mess. Dips in the sheetrock that were unfilled, around the lights were not smooth, our trim around the top of the wall is stained and ruined. Which he told us the messed up trim wasn't his responsibility. Above my cabinets looked terrible too. They tape the fan and ruin it because the tape peeled the stain off of it. He did come back Monday and half fixed the things wrong but they are still not good. They used my Norwex cleaning towel which is a $25 towel for paint clean up (my dog got it out of the trash, destroyed my broom, and they used my Dyson vacuum for clean up and stopped it up to the point we had to take it apart. They used my toilet to the point their feces were all over the bottom of the seat, used my cups that were in the cabinet, used the microwave where I had put stuff to not get messy and did not put it back. Clinton acted like none of this was his problem. I wish I would have never have used CFG Home Remodeling. This was one of the worst decisions and his profile pictures and website picture are not at all reflective of the mess I got from them. Also, after 1 week I have a crack in the sheetrock in the kitchen.

When we freed up money for the larger scope to include the kitchen, were told suddenly that it was a mistake and would cost more. --Wrong roof was installed on the deck. Instead of being charged the difference in the cost of the materials, we were charged for the cost of the materials and install without the usual mark-up. --Wrong lights installed in bathroom. --Bedroom door opened in front of window. Design error, but we were still charged for a change to the bi-parting door. --Wrong color paint on front hall wall. Told it was close enough until I hacked out a piece of old wall and had it matched myself --No air return planned for --AC move not thought about by design team or engineers. More than 2000USD to move it to a place that would allow us to hear each other talk on the deck. Chose to have someone else do that. --Generator mis- installed. When I shared link with that installation information, was ignored. New board installed. Still problem. Generac guy came out, was indeed installation. --Water in crawl space and lake around generator and front of house --New floor needed the contract pulled out to ensure no corners were being cut. Was told we were getting prestained flooring put in when contract called for flooring stained on site. Was told the weight room and closet were not getting sanded and refinished when the permits called for that. Building and Project Managers acting like they were doing me a favor in following what was in the permits and contract. --Floor installed has cracks already --Bedroom fan made fluorescent humming noise when on, and although it was changed out, I was told that I was being "too sensitive" --Shower head designed and installed at an unreasonable height --Drywall was left outside under a leaky tarp in the rain and was only replaced at my insistence --Screens were put in backward so they could only be removed/changed/cleaned from someone on a ladder outside the house --Shower surround as designed would have made the shelving unusable --The security lights on the outside of the original house were supposed to be reused, but were instead thrown out. Getting new ones and having them installed to the same specifications was a weeks long problem --Floor needed redoing, not once but twice. I have been told repeatedly that a floor has 6 sandings in it, and we are now 3 in --Drainage and waterproofing for the addition was not properly planned for or executed --Entire project was supposed to be done mid-May even with the few days delay caused by changing the foundation to pass inspection. It is now the last week September. --Not one single inspection was passed the first time. I do not recommend. ** After I posted this review, I heard from Ken Combs, company owner who I had not heard from at all during the nine month period that we worked with them to address my "allegations".
