To my sadness I needed the service of a pet crematorium . My pet died at home vs. Vet. Normally through Vet, I would use their service. However this time I needed to take care of the situation on a Sunday morning. I telephoned the crematorium who had done 5 other cremations (lots in pets in my family through the years). He was having a birthday party and could not assist, telephoned another crematorium they wanted to charge me an additional $125.00 since a Sunday bringing total to $310.00 (crazy to take advantage of my pain/loss). So I reached out to a friend who is an avid pet lover with great knowledge of other Loving Pet People/Services. This is how I found out about Carolina Pet Cremation/Steve Weaver. Mr. Weaver was wonderful. He was caring, and concerned. He was out of town, but had driver who could pick up my precious Boo or when he came back in town later that day, he would pick up my pet. Price $160.00/50lbs. (price depends on animal weight). There was NO additional charge to pick up my pet & No additional charge because it was a Sunday. My Sweet Boo was cremated the next day. I was able to view Boo before cremation. I received My dog's ashes same day in beautiful wooden box in a velvet bag with cremation certification, Rainbow Bridge poem, plus Boo's Paw Print. Mr. Weaver helped make this process much easier if that's possible. Mr. Weaver has a gentle, caring soul and understanding of the loss of our beloved pets. He made me feel at peace with the process. He was always professional, kind, & considerate without making me feel it was just a business, a money maker for him. Martin my handsome loving BFF cat was with me for 21 years and the day he passed back to God I was so so lost. I knew my vet was using their trusted cremator, but I had no idea how fortunate I was to have Steve. I had spent Martins final week not missing a minute of his life (almost like every other day but more so) and was not prepared for how his body would be returned to me. I was so comforted by Steves message, the beautiful wooden box, Martins Paw print, the bookmark with flowers to plant, the memorial materials, the reinforcement of the procedure and the promises of the procedure and the return, even the velour bag that protected the box. I took great care in the 21 years of Martins life even in his passing with my vet here in my home, but I was not prepared for the process after. I cried tears of joy at how beautiful a job that had done for my baby and for me, having such a wonderful and beautiful tribute ....Days later I called Steve, still barely able to talk thru tears, expecting a voicemail...nope, it was Steve. I am not even sure what I said to him right now but I do know that I have never loved anything like I loved Martin, never lost anyone I was ever as close to, never thought I would be so comforted and made as whole as that day when Martin's ashes were beautifully returned to me. Honestly, I can not find the words to express my gratitude to Steve. Steve has taken care a few of my babies over the years. That includes the one we put to sleep 2 days ago. We had to make some last minute changes because Diablo deteriorated and Steve rearranged his schedule and came right away. My heart is shattered but I can not imagine letting my dog go with anyone other then Steve. I never worry for one minute that Steve will treats them the with love and respect they deserve. I do not think that Steve could comprehend how special he is and the number of lives and hearts he has touched over the years. Thank you Steve for all you do, you are truly a gift from God. On the two worst days of my life you were the one thing that shined. Even with very few words you radiate love and compassion. Our fuzzy boy lived 13 wonderful years as an important part of our family. He got ill very quickly, and within 24 hours of first noticing he wasn't well, we learned there was nothing to be done for him- his kidneys had completely shut down. We brought him home, loved on him until Azure Holland came, and hugged him tightly as he passed. No matter how great someone's reputation is, I was not going to let my boy leave my sight for cremation. I wanted to make sure that my dog was treated with dignity, and that there was no question I would be receiving his ashes at the end. Steve was very gracious on the phone and very accommodating of my desire to be an honor guard, of sorts. Having seen every step of the process, I can highly recommend Steve for his personality, professionalism, and desire to be a part of the closure process for those who have lost a beloved pet. My beloved and sweet companion, Snowball, a 13 year old cat, had to be put down due to kidney failure. I tried unsuccessfully to bury her in my yard, where I encountered huge roots, making the burial attempt futile. I called Carlina Pet Cremation, and Steve returned my message within 5 minutes. He greeted me warmly, and explained the procedure. He made a special trip the following day, a Sunday, to meet me at the crematorium to give me Snowball's remains. I was very touched by Steve's warm response. I was also touched and surprised at the great care that was taken for Snowball. Her remains were placed in a beautiful wooden box with a name plate on it with her name, a beautiful card, poem, certificate that the remains were Snowball, and a plaster cast of her paw print. I recently lost my beloved Rita, a beagle to late stage kidney disease. I was devastated that day when we had the vet come to perform the euthanasia. Steve came in a few minutes later to handle the remains. I remember being struck by how gently he handled her body. It was a small gesture on his part and probably just part of the job, but it meant so much to me at the time. As another reviewer stated, I asked for the remains back, but had no expectation as to how they would be packaged. When I received the clay fired paw print and the ashes carefully wrapped and stored in a carved box I knew that Rita had be treated with respect she deserved. I don't write many reviews, and it feels strange to be writing about this, but it really did have a huge impact on how I think of those final moment. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Steve and his business. The staff was extremely compassionate and sensitive to the situation. I received a beautiful rosewood box with my 15 year old Chihuahua, Miss Chi~Chi Divine's ashes along with her paw print and some beautiful sentimental cards and notes. I can't imagine that anyone provides a better, more professional and courteous service than this business.
