Not knowing what to do in a panic, I googled pet cremation and came across Carolina Pet Cremation. On the website it said 24 hour service was available and you could call or text anytime. I honestly didn't expect an answer this late, the day before a holiday, or to be able to take him anywhere that late but I texted to see and almost immediately he responded. Steve said he'd wait there for us to arrive (we were an hour away), it was after 1 am when we finally arrived. Steve was so patient and kind with us. We said our goodbyes and handed out sweet boy over to him. He had Boss ready by 2 pm on the next day before he left to go out of town. Our Bossie Boy was 10 years old. He may have been small but his place in our heart is huge.

We all sat on the floor with Bear surrounding him with love while photos and videos played on our TV screen and talked about our favorite times with him. Dr Dana did not rush and Bear went to sleep peacefully. She brought a stretcher in and covered him with flowers before taking him to the transport vehicle to be cremated. The visit was completely worthless. Our cat was there for weight loss and lack of appetite. The possible causes were IBD or Gastrointestinal Lymphoma. The treatment for either is the same. There would be no point to know if it was cancer or IBD. She wanted to do a biopsy on our 18 year old cat, which would have been very dangerous at her age, and when we declined, that was the end of the visit. She told us to follow what the regular vet had already recommended, and ordered some blood work. The visit cost over $600. WE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM Dr. Aponte-Colon with the blood test result, despite NUMEROUS phone calls and emails requesting that she touch base with us regarding the results and the recommendations. And I mean MANY. She never saw fit to bother to return a single call or email. STAY FAR AWAY. It was a total waste of time and $600. She did not tell us, or make a single recommendation that had not already been make by the Primary Care vet. This is NOT a review of the Blue Pearl Hospital as our visit was not to them, but this is a review only on Dr. Aponte-Colon.

However, when I called to schedule boarding, I was then told that a "pre-boarding" trial stay is required--and that there wasn't enough time before my trip. This requirement was never mentioned during either of my earlier calls. Because of this lack of communication, I had to make last-minute arrangements and spent money on a vaccine that ended up not being necessary for my situation. The staff may have good intentions, but this process should be clearly explained upfront so pet owners can plan properly and avoid unnecessary expenses.
