I experienced the worst service lack of respect or concern from this business today 7/9/26. My granddaughter Xomara has been going there for a year now. but today was the 2nd worse encounter I have had since taking my granddaughter there. SALLY(owner) was scheduled to see my granddaughter Xomara today because Mr. jaun was out sick . My granddaughter Xomara appointment was scheduled for 11:00 and we arrived at 10:43 early as usual. time was passing by until it reached 11:15. I went up to the desk to inform AMY (receptionist) that I will reschedule because sally(owner) hasn't came out to get my granddaughter Xomara. I was told by AMY that SALLY(owner) must forgot she had the 11:00 appointment with Xomara. AMY also stated that she forgot we were sitting in the lobby and still waiting for SALLY (owner). At that point it was completely UNACCEPTABLE on SALLY (owner) part and AMY. I signed my granddaughter in at 10:43, so why wouldn't AMY inform SALLY that her 11:00 appointment was there . I was NOT given an apology for that incident in any form nor SALLY and AMY owning up to ACCOUNTABILITY for that incident in. I didn't deserve to be treated nor disrespected in that manner. There is definitely some discrimination concerns there at that business. whether othe African American children or staff attends or work there. ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPECT is the key . If I could give Carolina Speech and Language (CSAL) a 5+ rating, I would. My child has been receiving speech therapy with CSAL for 5 years. He has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. He has had difficulty with aggression and being in control. Some of the areas my child worked on were understanding nonverbal cues, understanding idioms, using emotion words, changing his behavior based on someone else's emotional reactions, using appropriate facial expressions, and modifying his language based on facial expressions of others. These are all complex issues and take time. CSAL did not give up on my child. They also worked with him on food therapy. This strengthened his jaw/face muscles and helped his enunciation. The food therapy also helped with his aversion to textures, which is common in children with ASD. He went from being an extremely picky eater to someone who eats almost anything I put in front of him. CSAL will work hard to match my child with the best therapist. If he is not working well with someone they will switch him to another. He has also benefitted from groups to practice conversations with kids his own age. CSAL thinks out of the box. Now that my child is older, we have practiced making 911 emergency calls using an old non-operating cellphone. We practice from scripts with different scenarios of emergency situations. I followed that up with an actual tour of the local emergency center in Dorchester County. Another out-of-the-box task was for my child giving me step-by-step directions on how to do his household chore. This caused him to slow down his thought process and make sure he covered each step before moving forward. I highly recommend CSAL to any family with children of any age. read more

Maybe this place works for older kids I'm not speaking for them but my child is younger like the other reviewer. My child came here after an official evaluation from a licensed psychiatrist specializing in autism,who came to the conclusion my child was not autistic just ADHD and needed speech therapy and occupational therapy. (Will get to why this is relevant later) Granted we are from out of state so didn't do much research looking for a speech therapist kind of just called the first place that seemed nice. So opon arriving here my child was evaluated for their placement in speech. The evaluation was not standard because my child would not sit still for the book or showed any interest in the book style testing (child is a toddler still let alone also has adhd) I was the one who had to suggest to the teacher she try using objects to evaluate speech placement instead of books,it worked and everything seemed to be going ok. Our next session she had a bunch of activities and my child retained interest. Two sessions later he was getting bored with the same activities (again ADHD) instead of adapting to his learning style and needs she decided to place him in a restrained high chair (or maybe her boss did I'm unsure) anyway from this point on my child was clocked out of learning and uninterested,because she started to use the learning cards and books again instead of objects my child just wanted to get out of the chair (again ADHD) During this session the boss came in and suggested we get my child evaluated for autism and said her company did it for 3000 ( it was either that or 1,300) either way we are not that rich and already paid for an official evaluation. I felt hopeless with this program but thought maybe the issue was the teacher. We switched teachers and the new one let my child be without a restrained highchair, he started to learn again,started to complete full sentences. Two sessions later suddenly he had to be in a chair again before the next session could start(extremely type a regimen to the point he would stay in the chair 15 mins and then we would waste an hour trying to get him back in the chair and he would learn nothing) Again my child has adhd And is too young for medication I'm not sure if the boss is the one telling these teachers how to teach or not but they certainly don't adapt to special needs! The therapist said to teach my son he would need cbd oil or Adderall! He's three! Everytime they suggested everything BUT adjusting the learning plan Keep in mind my child is not school age and attention levels shouldn't be expected that high especially with adhd I thought about it and went home like,wow I am being gaslit when in reality they do not know how to teach a child who needs a different approach to the standard curriculum read more

CS&L is the absolute best! The staff is absolutely amazing and did such a wonderful job with our two kids over the years that we were there. They were always so informative to us as parents on what they worked on with our kids and what the short term and long terms goals were. They also did a wonderful job of instructing us on how to help/work with our kids throughout the week in between their in-person sessions. Words cannot describe our gratitude and love for this amazing, life changing, and truly inspiring office and group of people. They are all "angels on earth" and we will forever be grateful for their impact on our family. read more

Now located on Stallsville Loop, both of my kids attend therapy here. They are quite frankly, outstanding. Constant communication, easy to work with...and they care. Our therapists as well as the owner are intimately involved in the treatment of my little guys. We have had others in the past and were nervous when moving here, but were so glad to find Amy, Sally, Katrina, and Sean. read more

This was our first experience with speech therapy with our 18 month old daughter. We had three appointments, during which we had two different therapists before deciding to discontinue. (During one of these appointments, the owner who is a speech pathologist sat in to observe but was contradicting what the therapist was trying to do which we found odd). The rooms that were used for the appointments were dirty and unsafe for a child our daughter's age...there were wires hanging from the walls, debris piled on the floor (including a mirror that could have easily been picked up and smashed), things piled on top of rickety cabinets that had no child proof locks, open electrical outlets, etc that we spent time trying to keep our daughter away from. The content of the appointments seemed unstructured and not beneficial, and we were given zero advice or instruction about what exercises we could possibly do at home. After switching to a local children's therapy center we are much more satisfied with the level of care. read more
