This little Donald Ross Design has a really nice practice facility including a full length range, short game area to practice your 120 yard wedge game and in and also a chipping green complete with bunkers. Upon walking through the clubhouse and out to the first tee you're greeted by a very helpful staff and a nicely stocked pro shop. The first tee really sets you up with what you'll see while out there for your round. A well maintained tee with tree lined and well defined fairways and the requirement tom move the ball off the tee one way or another. Slightly errant shots easily get you into tree trouble and very errant shots will find lots of trouble. One of the things I don't like here is the use of out of bounds within the property. I understand from a safety point of view why this is done but a hole like the par 5 12th having OB in the left trees (which plays adjacent to the 11th hole) and OB in the right trees makes this hole just dumb. It's already the narrowest driving hole on the course and that OB just makes it even more ridiculous. On top of this issue, getting home in 2 is not really an option because of a strategically placed tree that prevents a quality look into the green. Realistically you need to play this hole 200-225 off the tee, 190-210 for your second and 100 in to have any real chance to score. Leave the driver in the bag. The greens here at Wildwood are superb. Rolling fast and true they are a real treat to play and putt especially if you have any experience with Donald Ross greens, you'll really like them ALOT! Unfortunately for me my day did not include dining at the club so I can't speak for the food or service of the restaurant stuff but the outdoor patio overlooking the practice putting green in the short game area with a nice little view of the first tee does seem like a very nice place to get lunch after your round or come out for a relaxing bite to eat. Wildwood is a really nice golfing experience with fantastic greens and some quirky tee shots. A little course knowledge is a must to score and patience on the greens is a virtue, but that 12th hole is a drag and some of the hidden hazards that can gobble up a seemingly quality tee shot can upset an otherwise good day of golf and beware of the windy days!

The menu is packed with many delicious options. I've been to a few events in the banquet hall that were really well done and organized. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. It would be a great setting for a small or simple wedding or other special occasion. We were in the downstairs room. Decor is pretty traditional and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and tasted fresh, not just reheated the night before. We had to clean up our own decor, but the staff helped us as much as we could. Thank you for a great day!

Having said all that, for $15 to play the front twice is about the right price. They only real out of play areas on the front are the bunkers, which remain totally trashed.

Service was impeccable. We were attended by two servers as one was in training and shadowing the main server. All the servers appeared to be in college. We started with several appetizers. The calamari was delicious! We also got the brussel sprouts which were not at all spicy as indicated on the menu which was just fine with us. Unfortunately, I can't remember the third dish and the menu is not on the website. For our main meal, I got a small bite of my friend's salmon and it was perfectly done. It's so hard to get seafood and steaks right. After just having dried salmon at a local chain restaurant, I so wished I had also ordered the salmon. I did, however, order the filet mignon as suggested by my friends. I was looking for a doneness of medium (my usual order). It was an absolute perfection of color and juiceness. I felt like I was in heaven with each bite. I was also allowed to substitute the potatoes with extra green veggies (broccoli). The husband ordered the flank steak with potatoes and broccoli. He also thoroughly enjoyed his meal. It was a generous portion that very rarely does he say that he was quite filled. We passed on desserts as we had planned to have them at our friends' home. Perhaps another time. The location was quite convenient for us. It was less than a 30 minute drive from Montgomery County. Glenwood is in Howard County. There was plenty of parking and we got a brief look of the grounds. It was just beautiful with lush greens even in December. I can see why our friends are members.

Affordable memberships considering the area. I have friends who have been members for years and still enjoy it. The golf course is really solid. They have a great mixture of holes. A couple of drivable par 4s and all the par 5s are reachable from certain tees. Two tough par 3s on the back that can make or break a round. Green surrounds are tough if you're in the wrong spot. The greens themselves are always in fantastic shape. They are severely sloped at times, so you must be accurate with your approach shots. I couldn't find the golf course architect on their website, but they did a good job considering the hilly topography and small footprint of the property. But I can also see one hitting pretty much the exact same shots every time no matter what tee box you're playing. Favorite hole: Par 5 12th, except for the yellow range balls that litter the left side. Downhill the entire way. Range on the left, trees and then the 18th hole on the right. Reachable for many with usually a blind-ish to a peninsula green with water right and long. The very tall red stake frames the front right of the green. Very cool hole before the brutally tough par 3 13th. The driving range is good and they have really nice Titleist practice balls to hit. The short game area is outstanding. I could spend hours out there with a few wedges. They have two small-ish putting greens on either side of the clubhouse. The restaurant is a great space and they have an area for bigger events. The food and service are both good too. Sadly, I have not enjoyed the pool area. Just a solid club overall. The members I have interacted with have all been great. I have had and heard somewhat mixed interactions with the people that run the place, but nothing bad enough to write about here.
