It's what's for dinner! Sharing the Orange Scallops Appetizer - tender and well seasoned. I had the Pulled Pork over Mac N Cheese. It seemed unfamiliar, but who doesn't enjoy Mac n cheese? The pulled pork is subtly seasoned and tender. The portion is generous too. Bob had one of his all time favorites - Beer Battered Cod and Chips. He always loves it. Played here as part of a guy's golf trip on the way to Ocean City. This was a convenient place to stop on the way. Although it's public, it appears that most of the play is for members and residents of the adjacent 55 plus community. It was not well marked and it was difficult to find the bag drop and golf carts. But other than that snafu, I really enjoyed the course. It was honest and not tricked up and in very good shape. The greens were fast and fun but not easy. This is the kind of course I would like to play fairly frequently. read more

Used the space as a wedding venue and reception (at Sugarbeets). I don't know what a ballroom event would have been like, but we wanted the smaller venue and loved the appeal of roll up doors to let the outside in. The bridal ready room was great. Very spacious. The gazebo was acceptable as a place for the ceremony. The chairs were placed on a bit of a hilly grass area. That's pretty much we're the good ended. Especially since a full size sedan tried to use the wedding walkway as a drive through. Wish there had been some staff assistance to prevent traffic from driving through an active ceremony. Now with the bad. The staff was best described as absent. The event coordinator met us for the rehearsal and things were somewhat promising. The next morning, I saw glimpses of her, but she was never actually engaged in supporting our event. I don't think drinks were offered to the bridal party or cosmetologist...however I was so busy putting up all the decorations, I could be wrong. I am willing to admit I was naïve and should have had a wedding planner; but unless the planner had their own squad of minions, they would have been equally frustrated by the lack of staff support. In fact, it was noticeable to my photographer. We were promised a golf cart to take advantage of other areas to use for bridal photography. On brand for this establishment...another no show. We had to set all of the tables ourselves with table cloths that were creased from being folded. The steamer they supplied did not work. That's what I said...supplied. You'd have thought they would be the ones to steam the table cloths. The buffet was empty for over 90 minutes past the end of the wedding ceremony. There was an hour for mimosas but the continuum of events was stifled by the poor timing. While people enjoyed the mimosas (priced at $900 for 60 people) the bar staff was salty. The individual orders for drinks was low as people felt they were inconveniencing the staff. There was no salt on the rims of my drinks...apparently the staff was keeping all of the salt to themselves as they had nothing good to say about the event coordinator and gave looks of distaste when we asked where she was. The bussing staff was busy whisking dishes away from guests who now felt hurried along. Maybe because there were just the two of them. We packed up in a hurry and left without any other conversations from the event coordinator. Certainly not the event I was promised or expecting. read more

We met for breakfast and it took well over 1/2 hour to get our order. It consisted of pancakes, eggs and a breakfast burrito. We were essentially the only table, 4 of us. My husbands eggs were suppose to be over easy and they were definitely over hard. The server was pleasant and the sourdough toast was excellent. I am guessing they don't do breakfast that often. They need to work on speeding some things up. read more

Passwaters is the restaurant in the club house at Heritage Shores (HS), a retirement community. The presence of an on-campus restaurant was a major draw for my wife and I in deciding to move to HS, but unfortunately our experience at the restaurant was really bad. Atrocious service and sub-par food. When we arrived, there were only two other people in the restaurant, and four in the next-door bar. Once we were seated, the first waitress (there were 2, and I know their names but won't shame them) disappeared and a waitress #2 came into the room and started cleaning and setting tables, which should have been done before opening. After a full 10 minutes without either waitress asking if we'd like something to drink while looking at the menus, my wife said something about the wait, and waitress 2 said she'd be right over. A few minutes later she came and took our drink order, and just then waitress 1 reappeared with glasses of water for our table. It took 15 more minutes -- during which the other two diners finished and left and another couple came in: so still just 4 people in the restaurant -- before our drinks arrived. In fact, the 2 new patrons had been served their drinks while we were still waiting. My draft beer was flat, and the head was completely gone, leaving an inch of glass above the liquid, a clear indication that it had been sitting at the bar all that time; my wife's Shirley Temple had a bitter taste that she said was the worst one she'd encountered. When she asked the waitress (can't remember if it was 1 or 2) about the drink it turned out that the third waitress/bartender had pushed the lemonade button on the drink machine instead of the ginger ale. The second one was a correct mix. My wife ordered the catfish tacos that came with avocado crema, and I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon. I've been eating Caesars for decades, but this was the first time I was asked if I wanted Caesar dressing on the Caesar salad! Well, yeah otherwise its sort of a plate of lettuce. Anyway, I said "yes." Again, the interminable waiting, during which the other couple's food was served. When my wife enquired about our order, she was told that the kitchen had made a mistake with her tacos and was re-doing her order. Finally, the food arrived. Fish tacos --minus the avocado crema-- and Caesar salad minus the Caesar dressing, and with stone-cold salmon (from being left to cool while the tacos were re-done, I suppose). I pointed out that there was no dressing on the salad, and was brought a little container of it, but when I poured it onto the salad, it had a thick, gloppy skin that I tried unsuccessfully to get off the salad. I guess that container had been sitting out somewhere, like the salmon. I want to point out that this bad experience has nothing to do with the staffing issues we hear about these days. There was a 3rd waitress for the four golfers in the bar, and #1 and #2 never had more than four patrons, sitting at only 2 tables, during our ordeal. So a drink with tacos and a salad, and we were in the restaurant for exactly a full hour. Another point of annoyance was that when we gave our drink order, #2 asked for our last name, which my wife but asked why they needed it, #2's response was to ask her to spell the name but neither she nor #1, who was also at the table, could give any explanation other than that they needed our surname so they could "get-to-know" the customers. They really need to get-to-know how to do their jobs properly; management of this restaurant should get its act together and do some necessary training. n n read more

I've attended two weddings at this venue approximately 5 years apart. The first wedding seemed like amateur hour: dirty dishes piling up during cocktail hour to the point where I stopped going into the room for fear a stack would topple over & get my dress dirty, the seated dinner service had no direction - salads were served & then an hour later (not kidding) our entrees were served all the while the bride & groom had not even gotten their salads, the bar was poorly stocked during reception to the point the bartender kept leaving to restock it, the guests were ushered out the wrong door to see the couple off resulting in no one going past the favor table so many people didn't get a favor. By the end of the night, the bride was literally in tears. I had high hopes for the second wedding considering the venue does so many of them & some time had passed. It was improved but still extremely poorly managed. The bridal suite was no less than 76 degrees the entire time the bridal party was getting ready. The couple had a signature cocktail; however, the sole bartender pushed the wrong signature drink for 1-2 hours before finally being corrected - all the while a sign on her bar stated the correct signature drink. Again, the bartender kept leaving the bar so there was no one serving at times. The buffet was not properly refilled so dishes were empty by the time tables were excused to get dinner. Unprompted, one guest even commented on the poor service to me - guests were noticing the lack of professionalism and organization. My opinion of this place is that they rely on being one of the few "high-end" venues in this area and dial in their service. One would think by this time, they would have event service fine tuned and running like a well-oiled machine but it is just the opposite. It is a shame because it's a very pretty venue and the food is good but the service is severely lacking. I would NEVER recommend having an event here. read more

Great golf course for an affordable price. It's a little far to get to from DC for a weekly golf outing but it's usually worth the drive. The golf course features a classic links style design with water flanking a majority of the holes. The windy conditions provide a challenging yet playable round for all skill levels. 3.5 stars We played here on the way back from Rohobeth on our last trip. Arthur Hills design and a good value at $65 plus cart (even better twilight rates). I liked the course -- interesting, good layout and fair -- though it did seem a little pre-fab or something to me -- just lacked a sense of place/character...or something -- I would certainly play here again, but probably not at the top of my list of must plays in DE/Ocean City area. read more

Had a good meal at the 1730 Tavern. Excellent service and the food to match. Quesadilla, Calimari, Irish Coffee, and the Donut dessert (sweet potato) with chocolate sauce was great. Definitely recommended, especially after a good golf outing on their course. read more

Golf course is pristine, never had a single issue here ever. Staff is polite and always have been on the ball.
