The librarians are extremely helpful and very friendly. We also find a ton of books to check out each time we visit.

The staff member reading the story was enthusiastic & encouraged the kids to participate with hand gestures & songs. They got to do water color painting afterwards, too. The book checkout process was so simple thanks to the high end computer that just scans the books on its own when you set the stack on there. The staff was friendly as well when greeting us. We have made story time a regular event now :)

Schedules of kids activities, programming classes and other pleasantries were listed at the front desk. More than anything, I was surprised at the number of different sections to relax here. The children's area was bright and had plenty of area to read and be read to, in addition to a half a dozen computers. A number of study carousels are available for those wishing to get their study on, and all include plenty of outlets. Perhaps the coolest area they have here is the fireside reading spot - a few comfy chairs and a place for your coffee! More books that you can shake a stick at and a nice selection of DVDs for rentals. All in all, a lovely spot to read, study or just hang with the kiddos!

This is quite the impressive library in downtown Yakima!…read more A lot is changed in downtown since we last lived here roughly 15 years ago. Growing up, we definitely underutilized the libraries in town, but being away in areas where libraryuse was encouraged and where the activities there were sought out, we figured it was time to check things out in town. The library system throughout the valley is very impressive. Everything from Sunnyside on up to Yakima is well integrated and they have much more to offer than I previously appreciated. At the downtown branch, there is a lot of stuff to see and do! Just to the left after entering is a kids area with some toys, educational materials and lots of kids books. In the room past that, there's a sitting area for reading as well as plenty of computers if there something that you need to get done thereor if you just need Internet access. I believe it's a one hour time limit but it can be re-upped if needed. They have access to tons of different journals, online catalogs and even a couple of very industry specific programs. It's a nice option if you don't want to pay for such things at home. The upstairs is full of more books including a very impressive cookbook section. It's nice to have that option to grab one and try it out before buying. The folks that work here are incredibly pleasant and very helpful. In the summer times they even have a number of STEM related programs and activities for kids. Growing up here, I had no idea that these resources were available within the library system. Now that we're back, we're going to make sure that we utilize them!

As you walk into this library, it's basically the kids section as the left half of the building and the remainder is the adolescent and adult portion. The kids section has movies, books, some great play areas, some computers with lots of learning related programs and, most exciting way, a bunch of animals! They have a bunch of lizards, fish, snakes and a number of turtles in glass enclosures around the kids area. There's even a Tiranchula for spider lovers - It's quite the menagerie! The animals are a great addition to the library and give the kiddos something else to interact with. The computers have plenty of educational games on them and as is becoming more frequent, our 5 and 7!year olds figure out how the games work faster than I do...I remember thinking about that would never be me and here we are! All good though as I can still best them at Mario cart! The folks working here are very helpful and made getting our book on Star wars legos and book on reptiles very easy! And you can return anything at other libraries in the area - key for when we've received our fourth reminder email. Yay Reading + Animals + Computers + Movies + Games!

Laptop connected to their wifi perfectly and I was able to send a few emails this morning before a meeting. For a small town, North Bend has a very nice library. Lots of space for quiet study and reading. A great selection of books and periodicals that are well organized and ready to go. You do not need to be a resident of North Bend to use the library and there is no credential required to access the internet. You only need to be a resident in order to borrow materials. One of the perks of the library being in the King County Library System is that if one lives elsewhere in King County, one can still stop and check items out. Fast forward to present, and this library still serves as the source for certain items I can only get from here in the KCLS circuit of libraries. Most recently, I put on hold the only copy in the KCLS libraries of the 2006 movie "RV". I placed the hold request on approximately Thanksgiving Day 2023 (Thursday 23 November 2023). The printed holds slip in the DVD when I picked it up at a different KCLS library today, Tuesday 5 December 2023, printed the date of 24 November 2023 (the day after Thanksgiving). I appreciate the honesty in holds dates for item(s) I get from this library. The copy of the DVD is in good condition, including no fingerprints on the bottom of the disk. Item(s) I get from here tend to be in good condition.
