Happened to find myself @ Airside Retail Park today and this was one of the stores I visited. This…read moreis the second time in a year ive been in this particular store. The first time was January 2012 and the sales where on at it was a fecking nightmare. Parking was almost impossible and you would have thought by the crowds thronging into Harvey Normans that they must be giving the stuff away for free. It was wall to wall with shoppers, the staff where trying to appease everybody and it was utter chaos. I was looking to purchase an American style fridge but I couldn't get adequate attention and the other shoppers where growing impatient at having to wait to be served so I left it on that particular day and purchased my fridge later that mid week closer to home. Today was a horse of a different colour. Midweek, afternoon shopping is always best, no crowds, no queues, plenty of parking, relaxed and considerably more staff to attend to your needs. Harvey Norman is a great place to shop, even if you're only looking to browse or you want to test the "expertise" of the staff with more technical queries. The spaciousness of the the store is the fIrst plus. Goods are well spaced out in the furniture and bedding areas, sections of full bedroom displays with made beds is a real classy selling point. I am in the market for a new bedroom so today was a great day to get a feel of what I wanted. I had plenty of time get a good look at the quality, no issue with giving the bed a good try out, or pull the drawers out and examine thoroughly and to take measurements. We where never hassled by the employees, (which is one thing about furniture shopping I hate, pushy sales persons trying to size you up to reach their monthly targets). The staff kept their distance and allowed us to browse occasionally and politely asking of we required assistance. We spent a couple of hours in the store browsing mostly and had a good rummage in the bargain bins strategically dotted about the place. The range is superb, and the prices seem to be competitive. Harvey Norman also arrange finance and you can get a quote or credit check done in minutes by the staff. Like all big boys I loved looking at the 60" Tv screens and the latest hi-tech surround sound systems, the computer section has hundreds of display items all in working order to try out. Knowledgable staff at the camera section where very informing and not sales pushy which is great. I really enjoyed my day off browsing here and i will definitely be back when I have got the bedroom floors down and the decor sorted.

I checked with the manager that it would fit on mt cantilever stand, trading up 42" to 43" told yes. Bingo, I'm off, collect my new shiny TV. Get it home and out of the box, 4 holes in the back but no screws???? The screws that I had for my recycled TV were too big but they provided none for my brackets. I get on the blower, is it me? The call center call me back and get the manager from Naas on the phone. You told me it would fit on my stand says I? It will do says he but you need the screws. Don;t they come with them says I? Oh no only if you buy brackets or a stand says he??? Eventually he says I'll rummage around and post you a couple out, they'll be with you in a few days says he. Shocked that I'd been misled originally I said O.K. Then I had a brainwave, there is a power city 5 minutes down the road. I left my number at the call center 3 more times, then I got a call back. I re-explained the situation and said rather than Naas post them out I'll go and collect from Finglas. Mmmm... I'll check with Naas I'm told?? someone will call shortly. No reply after half an hour so back on to no help desk. They call me, I'm told that even though they have hundreds of TV'S and bracket sets them there screws (even though I've found out that there are only 4 sizes https://removeandreplace.com/2016/10/18/tv-wall-mounting-what-type-of-screws-do-i-need-from-wall-bracket-to-tv/) are about as common as hens teeth!!! They have none of them there screws that go with your nice new telly sir. Basically shut up and wait until the middle of next week while we scrummage around to send you a couple. When I asked the guy quite angrily on the phone, are you having a laugh when you said Finglas store has none, he replied yes I'm sure. That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. I challenge anyone of Power city right now to let me take that big new TV that is still in the box to the Finglas store and not have 2 standard screws for my TV. I can't comprehend if it's bare faced lying or juct incredibly poor training for the so called customer service.

The sales assistant told me to go Harvey Norman's and the manager refused to allow me to try them although all demo models were broken. I don't want to bring my business to Amazon.ie but when they act like this what's the rational alternative? Just don't bother.

Below summarises my experience with Currys since purchasing a Chromebook and some software. FYI I…read moreemailed withing the 14 day period and have not got a response -then spent a full 2 hrs this morning onthe phone with zero success, apparentlyu due to Covid and technical issues Dear Currys I am extremely disappointed, frustrated and angry with how you deal with what should be a simple customer query question to the extent that I will now longer ever purchase from Currys ever again. As you can see I have emailed you as you offer 5 days ago with a query about refunded unused and unneeded software and replacing a stylus that broke after one week. You have entirely failed to respond either mail. Therefore I was forced to waste my time (little did I know). So the first time I called it took me over ten minutes to get through to someone and then after 10 minutes I got cut off and even though as part of a verification process he had asked for my phone number he didnt phone me back. I then phoned again and was on hold waiting for the correct department to pick up for 30 minutes-I hung up I then phoned a third time and asked to speak to a manger to make a complaint and to get someone who could assist me. When I got thought after just short of 5 minutes holding I tried to explain to the manager my frustrations first with the lack of response to my email and then to try to further expand as a customer how this mornings events had frustrated me. He agreed a 5 day wait for a response to an email was unacceptable, bu that due to WFH you were undercapacity. I suggested then that maybe this not be an option in your customer service web page if not being looked at? He said he was not empowered I agreed that but suggested he was empowered to pass that suggestion on. Then he explained there were technical difficulties with phones and people being cut off so could he deal with my issue. I said yes but Id like to further outline my complaint first. At that point I was cut off-AGAIN. So someone needs to call me back I cannot put my day on hold to be repeatedly on hold and then cut off. My phone number as you have on file is 089 4168419. Or preferably refund my card for the unwanted software and send a replacement stylus for the one that lasted under a week. All businesses including my own are facing challenges with the current pandemic. However you clearly have a customer service department that is not fit for purpose and I can only hope other customers like me walk with their feet as a result of this appalling service. Yours in less that anticipation John Hughes

They also didn't keep me updated about what was happening with my order when it got delayed. This resulted in me making two unnecessary journeys to the shop which could have been prevented by a quick phone call or text to let me know there was no need to come in. All three times that I went to the shop, even though there wasn't anyone else ahead of me I was left standing there in suspense for roughly half an hour before they were able to fully explain what was going on with the order. Again, lack of communication. Overall, they just didn't seem that pushed about doing the job and were not businesslike. I eventually gave up when they failed to ring me back again. The first was a bag and they didn't really have what I was looking for, the phone shop downstairs did though. The second was a hard drive, a beast of a hard drive. But when I went up they were out of stock. So they're not doing too well on that front. However, if you're a non-EU customer you don't have to pay VAT......that is of absolutely no use to me. I do like the neon sign though. I'll give them that much.
