That is: I have no damn idea what to look for, except that both should be out of this world but easy enough for a chimp to manage. His recommendations were backed with reasoned explanations. I rented a violin from High Strung a few months ago, hoping to get back into playing after giving it up in college. I've taken about 6 or 7 lessons from Megan, and she's a wonderful teacher! She has fixed my form, helped me find a new chin rest and shoulder rest that fit, and most importantly, she's given me the encouragement I needed to stick with this new hobby. She always manages to help me feel confident that I'm not sounding terrible, and motivate me to keep practicing. When you go upstairs to the music school, there's a little room where you can make and pay for appointments, and then a hallway with a number of small practice spaces. From what I've seen, there are all kinds of stringed instruments taught from guitar to mandolin. If you're looking for a music teacher for your kids, or an adult like me looking for a patient teacher, I very much recommend High Strung. The pricing is pretty reasonable too.
