Buying occasionally at this place is not the first time I see how the treatment is different and they target not french speaking customers in the cashier requesting to open their bags.
This time it happened to me. I don't see how a worker would ask this if they are not instructed to do it as a company policy. If this is the case, SHAME ON YOU!!!

If requesting to open the bag is part of the company policy it should be without distinction
Scaring customers away is definitely not a good strategy
