But if you're in the Big Apple, you should probably triple-check, just to prove us right. History & culture "evolution" briefs, tasty traditional samples, great walks -- the list of why you should do a tour with SusanSez goes on and on. From a phenomenal hearty Dijon Brussel Sprouts and Parmesan Artichoke Hearts from Westville, to Moishe's sugar kichel (flat sugar cookies), to amazing & authentic Pierogies, and incredible beignets by Ray's Candy Store and much more, the tour was the way to go! Just plan a short "FUN" tour. You deserve it. Keep in mind this tour is mostly outdoors. You may want to consider going on a nice day. You'll have small bites from a cooler (not inside restaurants) and a healthy picnic in Tompkins Square Park as part of the tour, but if you tend to get really hungry around lunchtime, maybe consider having a good-sized breakfast before the tour. We also received a sample from a health foods/vitamins/lotions store. I forget the name of it! This is a fairly long tour -- just under three hours -- but is worth it if you're interested in learning more about the specific area. The only reason I took of a star from this review is because I would have liked more history and culture and would have loved some jewish food on the tour. He was also great at pointing out hidden and obscure symbols left by the builders of the Statue of Liberty as well as good places to take photos. He also offered to take amazing pictures of everyone under the statue of liberty by lying on the ground. On Ellis Island, he walked us through in detail how immigrants went through the registration process as well as how his ancestors made it through Ellis Island. He also explained how he found the original documents and assured us that he fact checked everything he told us on the tour. I feel like he is an amazing tour guide and I would recommend his tour to anyone.

Rob was rude, condescending and we learned virtually nothing about 9-11. We learned about the subway, however, we didn't pay for that. Overall, extremely disappointed and we had little to no time to take pictures as promised. This is not a tour group I'd recommend. Rob had many personal statements that seemed to benefit him and not the tour group. Also, making an extremely rude comment to us was inappropriate and ended the tour for me there.

My husband and I have been to NYC many several times but this was the first for my sister-in-law and niece so seeing the Park this way, up close and personal, was delightful for all of us. My niece is a huge fan of Gossip Girl and Sayid tailored the tour for her. Both gentleman had quite a bit of knowledge of not only the park but NYC in general. I was lucky enough to have been found by LAL via LinkedIn. They sent over their beautiful tour presentation, and it felt like a no brainer, the food tours looked amazing and in various neighborhoods throughout NYC. We picked the Immigrant Tour - Chinatown, Little Italy, and LES. The booking process, communication and attentiveness of the team was top tier. They were super helpful with all our needs, availability, location logistics for a diverse team and diet restrictions. Finally, the day of the tour came, and we were greeted by Seth and Jocelyn, FANTASTIC HOSTS let me tell you! They met us with enthusiasm and excitement for the tour. Seth provided a plethora of great historical information about each neighborhood and location. Jocelyn ensured every stop was ready for us and the tasting went off without a hitch. We learned so much about the city that many of us have been born and raised in. It was cool. We took group photos along the way at various picture friendly places, like freeman's alley, in front of the dim sum restaurant and at Essex Market. One thing you may be wondering, is it enough food? I can assure you it'll be plenty. 1/2 way through the tour we were already getting a bit full and still had 3 more stops to go. We will be coming back to enjoy another event in the future. There seemed to be less structure and there aren't always places to sit down. There was some free time in Chelsea Market, which is fine if it fits the schedule, but our tour did run over quite a bit and I had to be at work later that day. I did love learning the history of the Nabisco building and a little bit more than I knew before about Google. The high line is just a beautiful walk, if not a bit crowded mid-day. I had to tip my guide, and quickly duck out before the tour was over, since we were already coming up on three and a half hours and we hadn't even made it to 23rd street yet. I would have loved to have ended at Hudson Yards, but I just couldn't keep pressing it with the timing. The High Line had JUST opened its first phase when I moved away from NYC, so it was fun to see how it has developed. The food itself was so filling. We had everything from tacos (I tried the spicy tuna); a dumping (I chose pork); to super fresh melt-in-your-mouth donuts (we got two!); to pizza (kinda average plain cheese slice); to an iced tea (refreshing!); to tahini ice cream (my favorite thing on the tour!) The portions were generous and I really enjoyed learning about each business. Chris is very knowledgeable. Being a tour guide myself, the crowds would be a bit daunting to me midday at Chelsea Market, but Chris was very proficient in leading us through. Cool little business and I would be inclined to try one of their more traditional tours, although maybe all of them are similar to this! Great way to spend an afternoon, either way.
