First things first, this experience from beginning to end was a 10/10! If you're looking for a fantastic team building event look no further, Like a Local Tour is what you're looking for. I was lucky enough to have been found by LAL via LinkedIn. They sent over their beautiful tour presentation, and it felt like a no brainer, the food tours looked amazing and in various neighborhoods throughout NYC. We picked the Immigrant Tour - Chinatown, Little Italy, and LES. The booking process, communication and attentiveness of the team was top tier. They were super helpful with all our needs, availability, location logistics for a diverse team and diet restrictions. Finally, the day of the tour came, and we were greeted by Seth and Jocelyn, FANTASTIC HOSTS let me tell you! They met us with enthusiasm and excitement for the tour. Seth provided a plethora of great historical information about each neighborhood and location. Jocelyn ensured every stop was ready for us and the tasting went off without a hitch. We learned so much about the city that many of us have been born and raised in. It was cool. We took group photos along the way at various picture friendly places, like freeman's alley, in front of the dim sum restaurant and at Essex Market. One thing you may be wondering, is it enough food? I can assure you it'll be plenty. 1/2 way through the tour we were already getting a bit full and still had 3 more stops to go. We will be coming back to enjoy another event in the future. There is a great variety of food offered on this tour, and it is very filling. It is a little different from every other food tour I've ever been on, partially because you get some choice of what you try at each stop (that's awesome!) and partially because it felt a little bit.....I don't know.....disjointed? There seemed to be less structure and there aren't always places to sit down. There was some free time in Chelsea Market, which is fine if it fits the schedule, but our tour did run over quite a bit and I had to be at work later that day. I did love learning the history of the Nabisco building and a little bit more than I knew before about Google. The high line is just a beautiful walk, if not a bit crowded mid-day. I had to tip my guide, and quickly duck out before the tour was over, since we were already coming up on three and a half hours and we hadn't even made it to 23rd street yet. I would have loved to have ended at Hudson Yards, but I just couldn't keep pressing it with the timing. The High Line had JUST opened its first phase when I moved away from NYC, so it was fun to see how it has developed. The food itself was so filling. We had everything from tacos (I tried the spicy tuna); a dumping (I chose pork); to super fresh melt-in-your-mouth donuts (we got two!); to pizza (kinda average plain cheese slice); to an iced tea (refreshing!); to tahini ice cream (my favorite thing on the tour!) The portions were generous and I really enjoyed learning about each business. Chris is very knowledgeable. Being a tour guide myself, the crowds would be a bit daunting to me midday at Chelsea Market, but Chris was very proficient in leading us through. Cool little business and I would be inclined to try one of their more traditional tours, although maybe all of them are similar to this! Great way to spend an afternoon, either way. read more

We took a great tour with Chris today throughout Williamsburg and we had such a enjoyable time. Chris really knows his Brooklyn/NYC history and made sure he personally spent time with each guest. The walking tour was about 3+ hrs and about 3 miles of walking. We had some great stops such a Mable's BBQ, Baba's Pirogies, Best Pizza and Odd Fellows Ice Cream to name a few. We also saw lots of great graffiti and street art throughout Williamsburg and had such a nice afternoon. I wouldn't hesitate to take other tours from Chris in the future. read more

I had such a wonderful experience with Like A Local on their Brooklyn Heights/DUMBO tour. I highly recommend a tour for anyone visiting NY or living in NY who wants to learn more about a specific neighborhood. The tour guide Bridget was so sweet, knowledgeable, and passionate about NY and the history here. I live here and learned so much from the tour that I wouldn't have known exploring the neighborhood on my own. All of the food stops were amazing too! My favorite was Le French Tart Deli and Time Out Market - I can't wait to go back to both! We went on the Hells Kitchen dessert tour with Lara. Lara was friendly and informative. We went to small local shops that I am sure we have just walked by in the past. We went to 5 shops each offering a different kind of dessert and learned about the history of each as well as the history of Hells Kitchen. The tour focused on shops that were small and owned by or supported social causes for communities of Color and LGBQA We got these tickets as a gift prior to COVID and the company honored them with no problem. I highly recommend those with a sweet tooth go on this tour. read more

I took the Chelsea Market & the High Line tour with Chris, and I loved every moment! Chris was a terrific guide, blending the history of the place with information about each of the food establishments that we visited for tastings. Really enjoyed our Brooklyn tour with Bridget. I expected just "tastings" but all the food stops were full servings - so much food that I could hardly finish the generous scoop of ice cream at our last stop! Saw and learned so much in 3 hours and had lots of fun! Highly recommend. read more

We went on the Flat iron tour and we had Rory for our guide - she was amazing and we had so much fun - she took some great pictures for us and we got to sample lots of great food and hear history. Went on a pub crawling tour of Like a Local last weekend. We are so glad that we didn't cancel due to the heavy snow, I think it made it even more fun! We were a total of 8 as a result of snow cancellations, so our group was even cozier. Lauren greeted us at Whiskey Brooklyn, introduced us to table shuffleboard, got the beer going, and when we had enough fun, she whisked us to another great local spot where we proceeded to playing two rounds of celebrity. It was fun fun funnn :) At our third and last stop, we played Jenga, but by then we had enough beer that writing funny stuff on the jenga blocks was more interesting than the game itself. After the tour was over and we said our goodbyes to Lauren, as the full group, we actually headed back to our first tour stop, Whiskey Brooklyn, to bring the day to a full circle and try our chances at that sneaky table shuffleboard again (and yes! I scored much better this time, with all the beer-induced confidence in me :) read more

We had the best time on our food tour of Chelsea Market and the High Line with Jessie. The tour was about 3 hours long, mostly walking with occasional places to sit and enjoy the food. Public seating areas are still limited due to Covid restrictions. The food was excellent and Jessie was very knowledgeable. Our group had some elderly individuals, tweens, and couples. All were able to enjoy themselves. We had an excellent time and highly recommend the tour. read more

Went on the williamsburg food tour, our guide was keaton, firstly he was an amazing guide, took time to talk to all of us during the tour asking about us, where we are from and lots of other things. His knowledge and the way he gets it across to you about williamsburg in an interesting way is great, and his fantastic knowledge of the food was great. Our guide was very friendly and informative but I would of liked a little more of a plan laid out on what we were doing, as we didn't know where we were going from place to place and it did differ from the website a bit list. The drinks were great but we didn't get much food, certainly not enough for brunch in my opinion. Brooklyn Brewery: 12 Oz of tasty beer Mabels's BBQ: cocktail and tasting plate - Delicious will be back Hot sauce tasting: not as enjoyable if you don't care for spicy but my friends liked it! OddFellows Icecream: PB&J - amazing Teddys Pub - Another beer but nothing special like the Brewery and from their small draft section So while we did see some great street art and the awesome skyline - there was no free gift or chocolate tasting. We got a 2 for 1 ticket deal so didn't pay the whole $64 it normally would cost. If we did I would of felt a little gypped - 3 cocktails, a few bites of BBQ and a kiddie ice cream for $64 is a bit steep to me. read more

My wife and I did a Food and History Tour of Williamsburg Brooklyn with our guide Warren. We can't say enough about it. It was great from start to finish. Warren was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and the history which made for a great tour. The food stops on the tour were well thought out and we were able to spend just the right amount of time at each establishment. We are native New Yorkers and this was our first time in Williamsburg and will definitely be returning soon due to the way we were introduced to the area by Warren. This was an AWESOME Walking Food Tour through Williamsburg. Our guide, Lauren, definitely loves the neighborhood, and the small business owners love her back. Everyone was very nice, and very willing to talk about their business and give us samples. We stopped at 7 places, and after the first two spots (Crif Dogs and Best Pizza), we were already full. But the yums just kept coming. My favorite part of the tour was the fact that even though I live only a few miles away, I got to see a part of Brooklyn I didn't even know existed- it felt like a vacation in an exotic city. We took this tour on a chilly but sunny day. Justin, our tour guide, was excellent. He gave us lots of history of the area in a very interesting way, not dry facts but great details. He also was wonderful about giving us updates of what was coming next, how long we would be outside, restrooms, etc. The stops are delicious. Beginning in Eataly he explained each section as well as the architecture. It really helped make a rather overwhelming place make sense. We were given some sweet focaccia to try which we never had before. It was so good we returned later to pick up some for a snack for later in the evening. Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop provided a delicious Reuben. Normally I don't eat these as I don't like sauerkraut and dressing but I tried it because they don't overwhelm the sandwich with it and I enjoyed it. The next food stop was a grilled cheese at Beecher's. I think I could eat that every day, especially with some hot soup Justin said they sell too. The cheese just drips out it is so gooey! The tour ends at Breads Bakery with Rugelach which was also perfection. At each stop Justin also got us water. He was always making sure we had what we needed. I highly recommend this tour. It is a lovely area to tour, you get some great history and you will definitely end up full on some of the best food NY has to offer. read more

On my trip to the Big Apple this was honestly my favorite part of the trip. Lauren our guide was AMAZING!! She gave us a tour of Brooklyn specifically Williamsburg where we visited many places and got to try the beer at the brewery, wine at the winery, ice cream at a local ice cream shop, BBQ and chocolate to name a few of the things we did. If visiting I definitely recommend taking the tour. read more

Williamsburg Food Walking Tour was not what I expected. I wanted to try real restaurant food since that neighborhood has some very unique places to eat. Instead I got a hot dog, pizza, dumpling and a cookie. The Bagel Store was the highlight of the tour since that was a totally new experience of creative, harmonious flavors packed inside a bagel and cool spreads to go with it. Can you say Rainbow Bagel with a schmear of cake icing? Nice. But I wish there was a little more background information about the places we ate at and what makes them so special but then again, what can you say about a dumpling except that it is inexpensive? The last stop was a chocolate place which was anti-climatic b/c I am a chocolate lover so sorry - was not impressed by the whole lot of it. This tour offered nothing that I couldn't do myself, I expected to go to restaurants to taste food not fast food. Was not worth the money. read more

We went to the Brooklyn tour. The restaurants picked were mediocre at best. There was nothing to talk about during the tour regarding history of the local area with the tour guide, and none of the food places were satisfying. You are better off yelping a restaurant in the area than paying for this tour. read more

The Flatiron tour with Ben was very informative, and it was nice to get a tour of the bread factory (with an incredible top rated dessert included), as well as a tour of Beecher's Cheese. Would recommend the tour, there was some nice history included of the area, the buildings and Madison Park, as well as a very good amount of food. read more

We were an extended family looking for a fun post-Thanksgiving Day activity for a range of ages from teens up through elders. Walter led a great tour! It's quite a site to behold: surrounded by the hustle and bustle of contemporary NYC with this pyramidal spear from the past almost flung toward uptown NYC. Like a local was super fun. I'm from San Francisco and I thought we had a lot to offer, but within this small area of Williamsburg I tried mouthwatering delicious food, met quality people and shopped in stylish local stores. We walked up the bridge and got a stunning view of the city as the sun was setting and into twilight was perfect for pictures. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. We got to see Domino sugar factory before it will be torn down and turned into apts and learned interesting history about the factory and the surrounding areas. We even passed Indie Screen and saw some famous actors from Arrested Development. This was an all around great experience. I highly recommend it! read more
