I have sat down to write down this review so many times, and just can't find the words to express my appreciation and respect for Carrie Anne. I have always wanted to do a boudoir photoshoot ever since I saw my first one. At the time, my reason was trying to find the empowerment I desperately needed. It has taken me seven months to finally write my review for Carrie Anne because what I've learned about myself during my boudoir session (and the whole process leading up to it) continues to unfold even months later. I spent years disconnected and extremely critical of my body. Eating disorder in high school and early childhood sexually abuse caused me to disassociate from my body, my sexuality and my power as a whole. Through many years of therapy, becoming a mother and supportive relationship with my husband, piece by piece I began to reclaim my body and my true self. Knowing that we carry so much emotion in our bodies, I knew the biggest piece of my healing was utilizing my body, instead of just talking, and begin to treat it as the piece of art that it is. So I decided to take the most courageous out of the box, most push myself to my edge of comfort place and do a boudoir session. It was time to reclaim my body as mine. It took me awhile but I came across Carrie Anne's website and this is where the magic began. Carrie Anne has an innate ability to communicate with such thoughtfulness, caring and protective nature. She encourages honesty and vulnerability through the process so once you're in front of the camera, you are much more comfortable and relaxed because you've already built a connection with her. From start to finish Carrie Anne was the most responsive, helpful, knowledgeable and my number one hype girl. I could not have asked for a more positive and empowering boudoir shoot. I originally booked a session with Carrie Anne so I could have photos to give my fiancé for our wedding gift. But the experience was so much more than that. The style guide that her and Kat put together is SO helpful. Without this I may have been a little lost on the vibe I was going for and keeping my outfits consistent. Leading up to my photoshoot day, every detail from reminders of my shoot, location, parking details, and little things to keep my looks organized were laid out for me from Carrie Anne which I always appreciate! Day of I was greeted with a huge hug from Carrie Anne which made me feel like we were old friends. From the moment I walked in the door her and Christina made me feel so comfortable and really put my nerves at ease. Her studio space and the aesthetic was so calming and inviting too! I can't emphasize this enough - but Carrie Anne is the most talented photographer I have ever worked with. There are a lot of people who can take great photos, but Carrie Anne knows how to position your body just right, use the natural lighting and props to create the most gorgeous photos. Her moody style is not by accident, she knows exactly what elements need to come together to create this. And that is what separates a good photographer from an outstanding one. The photos that I have received have been BEAUTIFUL. And it feels weird to say that since I am in them. lol But the photographs themselves really are just that. Her work speaks for itself, I just knew I had to work with her after seeing shots shared from her many clients on Instagram. There is magic oozing in every photo, and beauty shining from every body type represented. Not only does Carrie Anne have the professional camera skills on lock, she also knows how to model. She led me through my whole shoot, every pose, even helped me into poses I knew I wanted. The experience from beginning to finish was effortless and so much fun despite that I had never done a boudoir shoot before. Her studio has very chill/sultry energy, with perfect natural lighting that isn't too bright, well-placed plants, and the coolest furniture. If you've been curious about Boudoir, but too nervous to do it--I'm telling you right now--DO IT!! and do it with Carrie Anne!! Honestly, I don't know where to even start...the experience was just "magical". That sounds cheesy but I'm SO serious! Carrie Anne starts by reaching out to you via email asking about what you want to get out of the shoot and how you want to feel. I honestly was just wanting to shoot to feel a little less awkward in my body and also give my future husband a gift pre-wedding. But little did I know I would leave feeling like a bad ass woman who could take on anything with a huge smile on her face! From the moment the first email went out you could tell Carrie Anne wanted to personalize the experience and tailor it towards your needs. She sets you up with a personal stylist, Kat, that provides an amazing guide for inspiration (or even direct links) to shopping. SUPER helpful and thoughtful. Then she checks in on you to ensure you feel good about your choices. I feel like I was chatting with a close girlfriend each conversation pre-shoot. Also, she sends you an email a few days before the shoot to advise you on how to prepare--I suggest you follow the instructions. haha! Hydrate, stretch, and mentally prepare because you're going into the most "HOT" yoga session you've ever had! (actually the room is very comfortable in temperature, but you definitely get a workout when posing) When I arrived to her home on shoot day there was a personalized sign with my name on it which made me so excited to get started! She welcomed me at the door with a mask( I shot during COVID and everything was safe, sanitized and she wore a mask the entire shoot) and Christina, the make-up artist, was already there to get me dolled up. I loved chatting with them both when getting my makeup done, it really made me feel at ease. And Carrie Anne even remembered a lot of what we were chatting about in email and we effortlessly continued our conversation. Once I was made up, we went to the cutest photo shoot set-- it was such a cool vibe. It was private as well so you don't feel awkward and like your in a sterile environment. We went over outfits, she asked for consent on moving my hair or adjusting my lingerie, and then she PUMPED. ME. UP with goddess energy to get started. Honestly, going into the shoot I had so much anxiety but while shooting I just feel like a badass. Carrie Anne was a huge cheerleader and made me feel so comfortable. After the shoot she showed me raw images of what I looked like...I wanted to cry. I was astonished at the poses, angles and most of all the confidence Carrie Anne gave me. One of the most empowering things I've done for myself, and if you're even at all considering booking a boudoir session Carrie Anne is THE best. Truly. Not only is she such a genuine person and really friendly (even before you book the session!), but her whole approach was just refreshing. Even before time of booking, up until after the photoshoot, she was extremely informative, supportive and available to answer any questions or concerns.
