Carrie took our engagement photos at The Ancient Spanish Monastery and they came out AMAZING (I get emotional when going through the gallery!) Carrie is so much fun, personable, patient, skilled, and professional. She came up with all of our poses and they look very natural and happy. She took a bunch of creative ones, too, that showcased my ring, and took a bunch of candids of my fiancé and I dancing in the Monastery. They are our favorites! I've worked with many photographers over the years, working to capture images that told a story and captured people's attention and boosted business for my clients. From the moment we had our initial phone chat with Carrie, I knew she was the perfect person who could capture Fabio and my love story. My wife and I used Carrie for our wedding on 10/20/12 at Belle Mer. She was phenomenal to say the least. Not only was she hustling around the whole time, she was not intrusive, kept our spirits up (for those of you who haven't had a wedding yet, it can get pretty tiresome taking pictures for hours while your best friends and family are partying the night away) and we recommended her to all of our friends that were recently engaged. Carrie also took our engagement pictures which came out really well. STAY AWAY- My wedding was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene and Carrie has no heart- she refused to return or even account for ANY PORTION of my deposit of $2500.00 despite never having completed the work. In my opinion she is completely unprofessional!!!! She even sent me an email saying she could save me the sales tax if I paid cash- and then pushed that we pay her in cash. I can not rave enough about Carrie Rodman Wedding Photography. As a luxury Event Planner in the industry and working on the most high end weddings in the Newport, RI area, there is not only a quality in the photography and workmanship of Carrie's work and products, but a personality that is not only sweet, wonderful and understanding, but genuinely caring and excited for her clients! She has photographed some of our most luxurious weddings and top notch clients who have also all been over the moon with their experiences and photographs of their weddings and final products. Carrie also goes above and beyond to assist clients throughout the planning process, discussing either with planner or our clients what they are looking for, asking for inspiration photos they like, reviewing timelines, and locations for photographs, coordinating with us planners or client the timeline questions and concerns, and reviewing all of the shots and information she can possibly obtain to get all the photos a client is looking for, all of which is worked on throughout the typically year long process of planning with our clients. Carrie also can handle huge bridal parties and have fun with everyone, yet still get all the shots needed. She has an excellent team that she works with and her team is all prepped way in advance on what is expected of them at the wedding and where her shooters/assistants, etc. will be and be shooting. I have also known Carrie from my days in NYC as a Photo Editor at magazines including Glamour and other top women service magazines at Conde Nast and Hearst, etc. I hired her for fashion and beauty photo shoots and always was the consummate professional, producing gorgeous work. I can't recommend Carrie Rodman Photography enough, she is always a photographer I present to all my clients for their weddings and from what I know all of my clients who have hired her have been beyond thrilled with their photographs, as well as their experience with her company. When there isn't a wedding planner involved, she has even called me to ask my professional thoughts and opinions on timelines, locations, etc. to be sure she has everything perfect for her clients. I often tell her that is not her job what she is doing, as she goes above and beyond, but actually that is the job of a wedding planner or the client to figure out their timeline, etc. She can guide them, but no, she will take it to the next level and walk through every little detail with them, make calls to locations, etc. to be sure that she can get the best possible photos she possibly can that day. Carrie was a joy to work with. Throughout the whole planning process, she truly cared about what our needs were and wanted to meet them. She wanted to make sure that she was prepared for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding day, so she would stay in contact with us the months leading up to the wedding. We went through our wedding timeline with her multiple times. She was unbelievable in this aspect. She asked us what locations we wanted photos at our venue and made a timeline to include every single place we had requested and every single combination of family members/friends we wanted in photos (she even had a backup plan if it was raining or even too hot in the sun)! She was prepared for anything mother nature was going to throw at us. Since Carrie talked me through our day in such detail, I had nothing but confidence the day of the wedding in her. This was a huge relief to not have to worry about how the photos would flow because she had every detail under control. We sent her specific photos/poses we wanted the day of the wedding and she made every single one happen, and did it very seamlessly. Working with Carrie and her assistants was everything we could have asked for and more! She is very fun and her work turned out beautiful! My husband and I are unbelievably happy with the final product. She is the definition of a fun professional that gets the job done in a great, memorable way. Even my husband said he was surprised how fast she was able to get the shots we wanted both days and get us back to our parties without missing a beat. Once our, family and friends saw the photos, they were floored. We had the photos within two and a half weeks of the wedding. The whole album of images was truly remarkable! Even at the points in the day when it was extremely sunny and blazing hot she made the photos look perfect. I would recommend using Carrie's services. She has a genuinely kind personality which makes it so easy to jump right into working with her. She was by far the best addition to our wedding day!! We are so happy! read more

A week into my engagement, a million questions swirled in my head...many of which were already answered prior to my engagement (like almost every woman out there). I had the place (Newport, RI), the venue (Castle Hill), and the certainty I would have not one, but two dresses. But what was the next most important thing I had to figure out? The photographer. I searched the internet and one name stood out amongst the rest. Carrie Rodman. Her photos were beautiful, her style was impeccably glamorous. It was EXACTLY what I wanted. When I first spoke with Carrie over the phone, I immediately fell in love with her. She was incredibly easy-going, but eager to learn exactly what I wanted. She has a background in fashion photography and I wanted a piece of that. I didn't want so many 'staged' photos, I wanted pictures of my shoes, 'caught up in the moment' pictures, and everything unexpected. She was the perfect woman for the job. My husband and I live in Chicago, but vacation every year in Rhode Island so we met her in person about a year before our September wedding to shoot our engagement photos. We instantly clicked. The shoot was easy and even my husband felt comfortable. Half way through the shoot, the weather turned, but somehow Carrie insured the pictures would be beautiful and they were amazing!! During the whole wedding planning process, Carrie was the key to my success. Not only did I hire the best photographer, I hired a highly organized wedding planner! She helped me create a timeline for the day, making suggestions and giving advice. She was familiar with the church, the venue, the florist; she knows everyone! The day of my wedding, Carrie was there bright and early to capture my bridesmaids and I getting ready with hair and make-up in our suite at Mill Street Inn. She had brought along her right hand woman, Sesha, who was the best!! Carrie's 2nd shooter, Sara, was photographing the boys elsewhere (and those pictures turned out stunning). The girls (Carrie, Sesha, and Sara) were with us all day. They were all gracious and made everyone at the wedding feel special and beautiful. Carrie didn't forget a thing. The pictures from the wedding blew me away. I didn't think it was possible to have exactly what I wanted. But it was. I had Carrie Rodman. I had the best. read more

Carrie "worked" our Newport wedding. I would rate her services as mediocre at best. Pictures were so-so and the overall experience was one I would like to forget (after I write this review, of course). From the very beginning when we met her at the Newport bridal show, Carrie tried to "upcharge" us for additional services, like a car salesman would for an extra coat of carwax. There is an interview she gave in a photography magazine (if I can find citation later I will post it here) where she describes her business model. Carrie's style is to try to exploit brides in their wedding excitement, to "upcharge" them for additional services. She is quoted on this and openly admits it in print and we experienced it realtime. For example, we had already forked over a considerable amount for the wedding shoot. When we asked Carrie if she had a less expensive associate she could suggest to photoshoot our rehearsal dinner, she said that her associates were all unavailable due to other commitments. However, for an outrageous amount (something like $5000+) Carrie offered to do the 3 hour event herself. When we talked to the assistant photographer a few days later at our wedding he said that she never asked him about it and that he would have been able to do it for us. Now, you might call this smart business practice on Carrie's part - I call it just plainly disingenuous. More than once we caught her in little mistruths that left me questioning her credibility. The reason I initially put "worked" in quotations above is that on our wedding day, Carrie informed us partway through the wedding reception that she wore the wrong shoes (black boots) and hence had discomfort when standing for extended periods. In retrospect, this seems like an outrageously stupid thing to do (and then admit to)! How could a wedding photographer wear uncomfortable shoes?!? Carrie subsequently, spent a considerable amount of the event (maybe 30-40%) sitting on the sidelines while her assistant did most of the photography!!! In any case, for what we paid her, she should have suffered the foot pain or walked barefoot to make sure the job got done. Unfortunately, we received no such commitment and professionalism. Another disappointing tidbit - we had about 100 guests at our wedding, so not a huge wedding. When we got the wedding pictures back from her months later we noticed that not everyone who attended the wedding was captured in small group photos. WTF? Why did we pay to get a "good" photographer when 1) she ends up sitting on the sidelines for at least 30-40% of the time while her assistant takes pictures and 2) when collectively the two of them do not manage to get pictures of EVERY SINGLE PERSON at the wedding?? BTW, Carrie does not release photos for several months after the wedding because she wants you to have to buy individual prints off her website after the wedding - yet another example of extra charges that Carrie tries to extract from customers on their special occasion. This was also annoying. I do think Carrie has a good marketing machine. Certainly, we were fooled enough by the magazine spreads that she cites and various positive comments found online that we engaged her services. I sort of wish we had found more balanced criticism of her services. It may be the case that when Carrie wants to do a good job she is capable, as seems suggested in quotations on her personal website. Or it might just be that we caught her on a very bad day. carrie photographed our wedding in Newport, RI. I was so disappointed by the experience. She was certainly not worth the big price tag!!! You don't necessarily get more by paying more. carrie requires payment upfront, and her treatment and demeanor changed considerably towards us once she received our non refundable check. I could go on at length, but I will just mention a few points to illustrate my experience: carrie didn't respond to my voicemails. I had almost no contact with her before my wedding to discuss what was important to me. We met very briefly a few days before the wedding for a rushed engagement shoot. She asked that we buy her a drink. she's quite a penny pincher, which I wasn't expecting because we paid her such a ridiculous amount. Most egregiously, while I was getting ready on my wedding day, carrie demanded my bridal party to stop taking pictures because she was "setting up the shots." I was shocked. in the few interactions I had with carrie, she gets quite irritated easily, so I kept my mouth shut because I didn't have the option of another photographer at that point. carrie put my bridal party in a really bad mood. I received all positive comments about my wedding, except with regard to my photographer!! Her harsh personality really turned off my friends and family. Regarding the pictures, some were ok. But in this age of digital photography, there are bound to be a few good shots out of hundreds. I chose beautiful venues and had a very pretty wedding to photograph. My friends and family all came away looking like great photographers. In fact, many of the wedding ceremony and reception shots in my wedding album are those taken by my friends and family; many turned out better than Carrie's photos. carrie's strong point is that she knows a few good scenic locations in Newport. This is the only positive comment I have. Otherwise, her personality was unpleasant and her work was mediocre. She was certainly not worth high price!! Again, be careful, carrie treated us quite differently before and after we paid her. Except for Carrie, I was extremely happy with every vendor we dealt with in our Newport Wedding. My reviews rave about all of them going above and beyond. Carrie did not; she is certainly not worth this high price tag. read more

I am beyond thrilled with my decision to hire Carrie Rodman as my wedding photographer. Her incredibly gorgeous images speak for themselves; but in addition to those, Carrie is truly wonderful to work with from beginning to end. From the first moment I spoke with Carrie on the phone, she gave me complete confidence that I would have the beautiful images of my wedding day I had always dreamed of. Confident, knowledgeable, personable and easy going- Carrie is all the things you want from a photographer. She helped guide me through every step of the planning process and met with me on multiple occasions prior to my big day to go over the precise schedule and timing of events. Carrie Rodman and her staff are incredible and so easy to work with. We began our search for a wedding photographer in Newport with the thought that we would be getting married there. When my husband and I came across her website we were amazed by the pictures. Our first meeting was great. Carrie's personality is what finally made our decision. She was professional, funny and we clicked right away. We were able to talk by phone, exchange emails and even have meetings at her house to plan our special day. When the date and location of our wedding changed part way through our engagement, Carrie stood by us and offered to travel with us to Martha's Vineyard. Carrie was so accommodating and went above and beyond what I expected. Our engagement session was well over the 1 hour that I thought it would be which meant we could go to different locations for variety. The day before our wedding, Carrie and our second photographer took the time to scope out locations around the island for pictures as well. On the day of our wedding my husband and I felt as though Carrie additionally took on the role of planner as she made everything happen... even driving us in her car to the reception when our transportation didn't come for us! Having two photographers was ideal and our pictures came out amazing. There were so many special moments from that day that I can remember perfectly by simply looking at my pictures. The hard part will be deciding from the hundreds of pictures exactly which ones we want to put in our album! Carrie Rodman is well worth the price. I recently got married in Newport Rhode, RI and hired Carrie Rodman as my photographer. Carrie and her team were amazing and my photos are absolutely stunning. I did a great deal of research on photographers and after seeing her work and speaking with Carrie, I knew I wanted her to photograph our special day. There were other photographers that were less expensive however, I am so glad we decided to hire her because she is worth every penny and exceeded our expectations. From day one, Carrie always made us feel as though we were her only clients and made herself available whenever we had questions. We had such a great time with Carrie taking our engagement photos. During this time, we were able to see her in action. She is extremely talented and her photos reflect that. Carrie took her time and was focused on getting the best photos and spent more time with us than we had anticipated. My husband mentioned to her in passing that he and the groomsmen were going to get old fashion straight razor shaves at a local barber the morning of the wedding. To our surprise, Carrie said she would stop by to take a few photos of my husband. This is what I call going above and beyond. Carrie did this on her own time (she wasn't scheduled to begin shooting until that afternoon). On the day of our wedding, there was high wind and possibility of rain. Needless to say, I was upset given we were planning to take photos outdoors. Carrie saw that I was upset and told me not to worry and in the event we could not take pictures outdoors, she would make herself available another day when we could take some outdoor wedding photos free of charge. Her generous offer meant a great deal to us. Carrie really didn't have to offer that and just shows the kind of person she is and sets her apart from other photographers. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and Carrie was able to take amazing photos. What we love about her work is that it's more than just a photo. She really captures the moment and her photos tell a story. She is a master at her craft and you will not be disappointed if you hire her. We have so many pictures that are wall worthy, its hard to choose. At the end of our wedding reception, one of our guests approached me saying "I have never seen a wedding photographer work so hard. Where did you find her?" Carrie goes above and beyond her call of duty. She even came to our apartment in NYC lugging the very heavy wedding book samples, so we could finalize our book.
