We went here during Christmas night, it was beautiful. There were many lighted boats and it was beautifully decorated. We enjoyed al the wonderful decorations of the boats and had a lovely time. I was starting to panic a bit since all the stores were closed and we all needed to use the restroom but we found a public restroom in the parking lot area. Thank goodness they have that. We came from an hour away and it was difficult to find a restroom around. Overall we had an amazing time. read more

Carroll Creek Park is beautiful and scenic to walk through. They have events here all year long, including many festivals. I came here for the Asia on the Creek Festival, which was family and dog-friendly. They had a diversity of Asian performances on their outdoor stage, as well as cultural foods and other vendors, including Live! Casino. The park itself is pretty clean and there are many local businesses nearby, including breweries and restaurants. Only thing to watch out for is that there is no barrier between the walkways and the creek. read more

Sunday, while on Tony's Birthday Trip, We stoppedin Frederick, MD for lunch. On our way to the Oyster Shack, we walked past Carroll Street Park that has a lovely Canal.. Along the canals, there are many little shops and eateries! There was lots of on the street parking. Free on Sundays! I didn't see any commercial gift shops! Highly recommend and will definitely go back if we are ever playing around that area again!!! read more

This urban park is located in downtown. It is not a green space park, but a park that focuses on a water way named Carroll Creek. The creek is lined on both side with a wide pedestrian path. Bridges connects both sides. Wonderful independent shops, eateries, and a public library ate located on the paths. During the time of our visit, it was nicely decorated with winter holiday displays. The most impressive display was the line of themed and lighted small boats on tbe creek. Some boats even had working contraptions. We had fun walking and admiring this park. read more

Not a park in the traditional sense of a large field with lots of trees. Carroll Creek Park began and continues as a flood control play. It includes includes brick pedestrian paths, water features, planters with shade trees and plantings, pedestrian bridges, and a 350 seat amphitheater for outdoor performances all close to the heart of the historic downtown. Lots of small events here. On this occasion they had a nice art festival. read more

Nice park that cuts through downtown Frederick and has decorated boats for "Sailing Through the Winter Solstice" that runs from Nov-Mar. Really nice walk and the boats help to raise money for local charities. Highly recommend! read more

I've pass through Frederick so many times, but it has never occurred to me to pause and explore the city. One day I looked it up through TripAdvisor. I immediately grew an interest in Carrol Creek Park, with its pictures featured on top 2 of the list. Sorry Yelp, in terms of Things To Do, TripAdvisor is still the leader; CCP is listed as #171 on Yelp's Things To Do in Frederick MD search!! The main focal point is the segment of the creek at S. Market St. The arched stone bridge featuring a funky artistic mechanical clock immediately captured my attention. In the stretch of creek in front it were a whole variety of water lilies. Not sure how long water lilies bloom, but I consider myself lucky because they were all blooming and they were amazing. Both sides of the banks along this section of the creek are brick pavement, very well done and maintained. There's also an amphitheater and several artificial. The whole setting is very inviting and conducive to taking a good stroll, which can be last for miles but I have yet to spend more time to explore beyond the immediate area around the clock bridge. I will definitely be back after this initial exploratory visit. Metered street parking is $2 per hour and I had no problem finding a spot on a Saturday. read more

[Coronavirus review] Downtown Frederick is highlighted by this creek, which runs through a built-up but rather charming stretch of brick with numerous footbridges. It has some art objects built into it, and various aquatic plants as well. It's a place that you can and should walk after getting a meal at one of the numerous fine restaurants downtown. It's also a place that has become more important during a time when you are actually banned from eating in those restaurants. Why not try to find a spot here? read more

We biked the Frederick City Bike Trail. This was super fun. We started at Carrol Creek linear park and completed 8.58 miles round trip (be sure to use the trail map on AllTrails.com). Along the ride, we stopped several times for pics and to enjoy the scenery. We saw so many parks, lots of greenery, ducks/geese, artwork, a cookout, public pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, lakes and more. We stopped at an outdoor concert and grabbed some ice cream on the way back . Overall, I loved this trail. It was completely paved or bricked. There were a few bridges to cross and a small amount of hills near the rock creek trail. 2 of the hills were HUGE but short. We walked up those hills but the rest of trail was nearly flat with many places to take a break if needed. read more

Carroll Creek Park is a lovely park that runs along Carroll Creek in the historic part of downtown Frederick, MD. We happened to be in Frederick recently for a wedding, and arrived during the autumn leaf change time. Having been a New Yorker for most of my life, I loved the colors of autumn. We recently moved to south Florida, and hadnt realized how much I missed the vibrance of color all around. On a sunny Sunday, just before our journey home, we took a walk in this lovely downtown park. The streets on either side of the park are lined with shops, restaurants, apartments and a library. The architecture all around was eclectic, from very old buildings (the city was founded in the 1740s) to modern. The bridges over the creek were all different...each and every one. There is even a short suspension bridge and one with a clock and signs of the Zodiac on the side. My favorite one, however, is the one with tromp l'oil paintings, depicting, stone work, statues, friezes and ivy covering portions of the bridge...amazingly realistic looking. The only reason I gave the park 4 stars instead of 5, is that the water in the creek looked dirty and in places almost stagnant. I ust say hough, I don't live here and many of the drains at the bottom of the creek looked as though they might be working on them, so this situation may improve, hopefully. All in all, a nice place to spend a couple of hours outdoors on a nie day. read more

Every city should have a Carroll Creek Park. It's an urban park that runs through historic Frederick along a small creek with little bridges and many shops just off the creek. On the west end is Baker Park and the further east you walk, you'll stumble upon many breweries just off the water. Some parts of the park include public art displays. read more

Carroll Creek Park was an amazing experience for me and was exactly what I needed. I live in the Gaithersburg area and wanted to get out and hit a park, which is something I hadn't done since the pandemic began. Carroll Creek Park was perfect for several reasons, especially being out of the house but still social distancing. Parking was very easy at a public lot right next to the park off S. Market Street. I was there for about 5 hours on a Friday afternoon and it was only about $4 for parking, which was perfect compared to the rates I'm used to paying when parking in DC. The park, which runs on the sides of a stream (which I think is man-made), almost makes you forget that you're in the middle of the city unless you look to the right or left and you see a city block or alley. The park is lined with bars and shops so you can stop and have a beer or two, hit a few restaurants, or grab some ice cream for your stroll. I was there alone, but I could see it being a nice date spot. Of course, I took pictures of the painted bridge, and it does really look like stones or some form of rock/brick. There are various art pieces throughout that you miss if you don't look for them. The water was beautiful and had flowers, ducks, and huge fish, which I assume were coy. There were not a lot of people there, which makes it a perfect spot for biking, skateboarding, running, or just strolling along at your own pace. I felt safe and didn't feel like I had to worry too much about my surroundings except when crossing the streets that ran through the park. An awesome surprise was that the park expands to an area that is I guess what you could consider a more traditiional park with weeping willow trees, play areas, swings, public swimming areas, etc. I even saw a few people fishing. Again, an absolutely awesome experience. And, because you are in the middle of the city, there are cool things to do just a few steps outside the park. I can't wait to go back. read more

Frederick is a cool town about an hour west of Baltimore. We visited recently for an all too brief stay (24 hours). Start at the Visitor's Center, 151 S. East Street. The staff are very helpful. Get a brochure with map. Then take the self-guided walking tour. Carroll Creek Park is number 3 (of 25 stops) on the tour. This mile-long creekside Park features walkways, gardens, bridges and public art - especially "trompe l'oeil" (fool the eye) paintings on concrete that give the illusion of ivy, gates, sculptures, etc. read more

I scroll through this park while waiting to pick up some to go food from Black Hog BBQ which is a couple of blocks away. I guess its in what you call downtown Frederick About 6pm on a Sat evening, there were people out walking their dogs, there was a live band playing and dancing and some sitting on patios drinking beer. We only hung out for a few mins to give time to walk back for the food we had ordered to be prepared. Seems like a very nice spot to relax, people watch or drink a few beers read more

This amazing park is a creek surround by walking trails that stretches several blocks. If you plan to walk the entire park allow a good amount of time. There's bridges over the creek accessible from the walking trail that provide fantastic views of the creek below. Parts of the park are different than others. One area had sculptures in the middle of the creek while others had fountains. Some areas of the creek were wider than others. The park is lined with benches. There's a restaurant with outdoor seating right next to the park. read more

When many creeks in urban areas gets buried or are being run in the huge concrete pipes underneath the busy roads, the city of Frederick has shown us how you can use the natural stream and make as a fabric of the park for a benefit of all citizens. The project started out of simple flood control but it ended up in a world-class urban park lined with various restaurants (German, Greek, Polish, Wine bar, etc..) People can get a sense of European (pedestrian only) walkways next to the beautified creek, where large koi and sun fish make company to turtles in the middle in the city. Public art and colorful flora makes it all look even better. read more

Carrol Creek Park reminded me of a mini sized walkway that you would see in European cities like Bilbao. We went here today after Snowpocalypse 2016 and it was serene atmosphere. This is a lovely little area to take a nice stroll in. You can walk up and down both sides of the canal. They have a couple bridges along the length of it that you can cross over to the other side. The bridges have standing room areas for viewing down below or for a quick photo op. We were here on a Saturday evening and it was very busy...lots of families together and people walking their dogs. There are numerous restaurants to choose from on both sides of the canal. Several of the restaurants had patio dining available which is a good option to have. They also have ice cream/candy shops. They had signs directing what was where which we kept utilizing as we had not been there before. The only small complaint I have is that there were not that many easily accessible public restrooms. We walked for a while looking for one and finally saw there was one in a parking garage which seemed kind of out of the way and strange to me. It would be nice if they had some located right there on the canal. read more

We visited Carroll Creek Linear Park when we visited Frederick, MD in June 2017. It's a really fun park to walk around after lunch on a nice day. The park has a number of gorgeous slightly cascading fountains with lilypads. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy an afternoon in the sun. I'm really glad we took a bit of time out of our day to experience this park. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing place. I'd definitely visit often if I lived in Frederick. read more

CCP is the location for Maryland's annual craft brew festival, which we went to this year. The location is really prime. The water is nice and I just wish I would have known about all the restaurants that line the canal before we ate lunch elsewhere. There are plenty of places to sit in the shade and just relax. Or, you can walk the length of the waterway. read more

Last year, I came to the park with my mom and nieces, finding it to be absolutely beautiful. However, today the park is littered with homeless, the creek is littered with trash that is trapped in the lily pads, and the sense of safety (in the middle of the day) has diminished. Come on, City of Frederick! The one thing you have going for you is going to the dumps! read more
