After the 2017-2018 winter storms that resulted in Santa Cruz County California being declared a…read morenational disaster our two-mile county service road providing access to 67 residents suffered several $M in damage as mountains collapsed onto the road and several locations when the road collapsed down the mountain. The county retained Bowman & Williams (B&W) to do preliminary damage evaluations in the disaster area. We were required to obtain 3 quotes to qualify for state and federal disaster relief. B&W offered the required survey and construction design services and always came in with a competitive price. As work actually got underway an alphabet soup of regulatory agencies, FEMA, CA OES, WRCB, F&W, made various demands that impacted the design and B&W always responded quickly to keep the projects on schedule. With all the regulatory hurdles, permits, construction bids and county construction requirements it took until FY 2024-2025 to complete the last project and Bowman & Williams stuck with us thru the last bit of paving and the last guardrail.

FYI, there's a 3% chance of rain for Thursday, there's a higher % chance of rain as I write this - and it is NOT raining. Way to make excuses so you don't have to actually deal with customers! Slow, sloppy, rude... not how you'd want to describe your title company. However, this is how I'd…read moredescribe this branch (Amanda Duran and Rosalie Fields, anyway) of Chicago Title. They were slow to provide the preliminary title report to my lender, so the appraisal order was delayed. They included the incorrect legal description in the title report they asked me to sign (even after the mistake had been caught by my excellent real estate agent in the preliminary report.) They acted as if we were making it up that it was wrong, and as if we were imposing upon them when we questioned it. Then, when they finally did correct the legal description, their "corrected" transcription of the surveyor's report was full of typographical errors, such as "Wast", "othe" and "Sourtherly". In addition, they asked us to sign the wrong version of a different form. I mean, this is an expensive purchase, people! You want to get it right! I don't want to have to deal with a claim that I don't have clear title to the driveway and garage! Isn't that what a title company is supposed to be good for?
