This Greenmarket is a regular on Sundays in Carroll Gardens. As my previous review mentioned, they don't have many stands and they close too darn early compared to others. Their produce is fresh albeit pricey but farm to table and pesticide free is always the draw at these greenmarkets. Oh, how times have changed since 2011. Actually, they haven't changed that much,* but they've changed enough that I couldn't let you go on without an update. (Because I care about you, dear reader.) This farmer's market is still a pretty good one. Unfortunately, we've lost Grazin' Angus (although, I'm told I should eat less red meat) and Divine Pickles (I miss those wasabi pickles), but there's still plenty of produce for you. All the tomatoes, greens, beans, nuts, mushrooms, cheese, eggs, flowers and other plants you'd ever want are here for the buying. You can also still grab: Tasty turkey sausage/burgers (and other items) from DiPaolo's. Crusty ciabatta (and other items) from Bread Alone. Whole chickens, primed for roasting. Duck bacon and/or rillettes. Burpless cucumbers. Overall, I've been happy with just about every purchase I've made here over the past few years. There was that one time that I bought an heirloom tomato that got crushed in the bag under other, heavier stuff, and leaked juice all over everything...I was sad about that. Then my cat decided to attack the other, $3 tomato as it sat in our fruit bowl. That was also disappointing, but he's a known asshole and we should've expected it. Anyway, what hasn't changed in the past half decade or so is that I think you should come here and buy delicious items from the vendors. Because the more you support the market, the more awesome vendors will show up. Therefore, by spending money here, you will really be increasing my quality of life. Sure, it'll be good for the whole neighborhood and the food industry in general, but let's be honest: I'm the one that really matters. ____________ *On the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket front. So great to have our own little green market. Suck it union square! Watchout for the mushroom people near smith though. Too many times those mushrooms turned the day after I bought them. The Di Paolo turkey is outstanding! read more

Although small, this green-market has heart. Open on Sunday which is crucial for me. Everything you need vegetables wise, a cheese-monger, eggs and poultry if you want them as well as a fishmonger. It's been running July-November but they said it would stay open through December and hopefully become year round which we need! Please check it out and support it. read more

Based on the yelp reviews, I figured that I'd give this place a try. However, with less than 10 vendors and very limited space, I'd rather wait until this Saturday and go to the market at Grand Army Plaza or union square. Furthermore, most of the vendors did not accept credit/debit cards, so if you wanted to make a purchase, you had to get cash from the ATM OR purchase tokens ($5 fee). It was all so underwhelming. read more

This is a great little market. They have mushrooms, fish, pickles, organic meat (breathtakingly expensive), turkey sausage, a bakery stand, milk that is not homogenized, other dairy and eggs as well as the usual fruits and vegetables in season. read more

I love this place, my favorite stands are the first produce stand (they always have samples) the egg guy, the Di Paolo turkey stand, and the last stand that looks pretty small but they have great greens and interesting homemade scones. Like someone else said, the sidewalk is narrow so arrive before the strollers do. read more

This market was a little underwhelming. There were maybe 10 stands to choose from and they were crammed onto the sidewalk leaving little room for foot traffic. They did have 2 larger tents with a pretty good selection of fruits and vegetables. I came looking for small pumpkins and gourds to use for decorations but ended up leaving empty handed. The selection was extremely limited. Unfortunately, I did buy a $3 almond croissant that was extremely hard and stale. I think I'll just make the trip into Manhattan for the Union Square Farmers Market next time. read more

My wife and I love this market. We do most of our weekly grocery shopping here. Defintiely check out Grazin Angus and Milk Thistle. This market has grown steadily and is now open year round. Plenty of fruit and vegetable vendors from farms that raise their food sustainably. read more

Contrary to Yelp's insistence, the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket is not in Gowanus...nor is it really open at even 2pm on days it is.

The Carroll Garden's farmers market is a great small market. You won't find the scale/variety that it available in Union Square or Grand Army Plaza, but this is a market scaled for the surrounding neighborhood. I often try to get here as early as possible before anything runs out. I LOVE Milk Thistle Farms and their returnable glass bottles. Fishkill Farms seems slightly pricey but their produce is always really fresh and they are very friendly (esp Walker who was working for them last year). Consider Bardwell Farm has great cheeses and they will let you sample all of them and give you suggestions if you need cheese for a particular recipe or use. Chelsea Whittaker, the manager of the market, is always really friendly and helpful with information about the different farmers there and they are always cooking something at the market information tent. My method is to keep the fruits and veggies in the cartons instead of having them put them in plastic bags and I return them the next week so that I can reduce my trash. read more

Love this farmers market. We rely on the farmers markets for pretty much all of our summer produce and almost everything else, and despite this one being tiny, it works great for us. I prefer this one to the Grand Army Plaza market, which is far larger. This one has two farmers with stellar produce--grown using organic methods (but not certified), heirloom varieties, full of gorgeous deliciousness (for the 2010 summer, they are at opposite ends of the market--the Korean folks at the far end and the woman at the very beginning of the row). Milk Thistle dairy (crazy yum--beats Ronnybrook, hands down, if you ask me or my kid) is there, as is a great fish guy, the awesome grain folks (who now sell bread, too), the turkey folks, and a great green meat guy (though their meat is too expensive, like all other greenmarket meats--try ordering from Fleisher's Meats, who deliver, instead!). The only thing Grand Army has on this one is that Blue Moon Fish can't be beat... (but the guy who sells fish at this one is pretty darned good, too). read more
