Yamaguchi when I was expecting my son…read more -the nurses are all sweet hearts -the office is small -if u make an apt in the afternoon the office is an oven not sure if it's cuz they don't have ac but i always have to wear a rank top n sometimes that's not good enough. The reason I'm giving this a low rating is because today....after going many times.... I brought up vaccines. I informed them I wanted to take it slow. One at a time and what is only recommended for school.... after I wanted 50 mins to see him. Here is what I got in return after I said that: -dr. Yamaguchi handled my son roughly and made him cry multiple times ( and he was supper happy n smiley with me on the table) and blamed it on "separation anxiety ", which my son does not have. -was told that I would have to go in every week if I wanted to do one shot at a time ( umm kids don't go to school till their five sooo NO) -told me the flu shot is not required for school but is required for their office ( I'm sorry excuse me???) -didn't even talk about it. Just told me that I live in Petaluma and their are great practices up there and he would be happy to transfer my sons paperwork. If you want no control over what u want for your kid and u want the doctor to decide everything for your kid then this is the place for you. But if u care about your kid and if u have specific needs or if you don't want certain vaccines or u just don't want to follow some made up rule just because or treat your kid roughly Because you as a parent feel one way.....then DONT go here!

The class came highly recommended from our OB and I was happy to take any more resources that didn't involve too much doom scrolling. The entire class was very informative and it's clear that Tori is a very experienced nurse (my aunt also happens to be a L&D nurse as well). I found it very helpful that she went through all of the options in a very clinical way and it helped reaffirm what choices I had available to me. I don't think it's reasonable to expect that everyone will agree with all aspects of the class (especially when it comes to baby products), but it brought me a lot of comfort and understanding that I didn't have before.

The way she broke down every part of the labor and delivery experience helped ease my nerves and made everything feel more approachable. When I ultimately went into labor, I had Tori's materials right by my side to track how I was progressing. And even before then, my baby rotated into a breech position - I called Tori and she walked me through recommendations on how to encourage him to flip and what to expect with interventions from the doctor if those became necessary. Tori really cares about the people in her class and puts her whole heart into what she does. I feel lucky to have taken her class and have had her in my corner as we navigated the last few weeks of pregnancy. I highly recommend PillowTalk to any expecting family!

After two…read morelessons, the 6 year was learning quickly and we're still working on getting the 4 year old back into a swim lesson without crying. Her approach, in short, is that you should show your kid how to hold their breath, pour water on their heads, and then take or push them under the water. I don't mind crying if there's a lesson, so I was open to her suggestions when our 4-year-old didn't want to go under the water. Nancy told me to count to 3, give him a chance to hold his breath, and then go under with him. But when he didn't hold his breath, she blamed me for not acting confidently, complained that we had different parental styles, and then asked if his mom might be able to take my place in the next lesson. She proceeded to get in the pool and try herself. And when our son didn't hold his breath again, she told him it was his fault and reminded him that babies could do it. I'm not in the habit of shaming my children to motivate them, nor was I prepared for how she would shame me out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately, while Nancy's approach might work wonders for some kids, it seems just as likely to turn your kids off swimming. Just look at the reviews (I wish I had seen them before going), half the kids learn to swim, and the other half have PTSD (and the parents seem a little traumatized as well). I wish Nancy the best and believe she can help many kids learn to swim. But unfortunately, unless she can figure out how to serve the other half of her students that don't conform to her methods, I feel it necessary to warn other parents.

The theories resonated with me, but I was having a hard time putting the theory into practice. When I heard about Lisa's class, I was apprehensive about the time commitment (seven 2-hour sessions), but I decided to give it a try. I think that was one of the best decisions I've made as a parent yet. The 7 weeks flew by and by the end, I found myself craving even more. Through role playing and a series of really powerful demonstrations, Lisa taught us about parenting with kindness and firmness (as opposed to being authoritarian or permissive). We covered a wide range of options for non-punitive solutions to common parenting/behavior challenges. We also learned about teaching our kids self discipline, problem solving skills, responsibility, self-reliance and cooperation, among other things. Some of the concepts that most resonated with me: "Asking vs. Telling" ("Where do your shoes belong?" instead of "Put away your shoes."); "Connect before Correct"; and especially the idea that children do better when they feel better. I hate role playing, but it was unbelievably powerful to role play being my child and also to practice different parenting techniques. The classes have transformed the way that my husband and I interact with our son. We all enjoy each other so much more now and there's a lot less conflict. This doesn't mean that we're letting him get away with more. We're just involving him more in problem solving and making him feel like he's a contributing part of the family. Things certainly aren't perfect and we certainly still experience non-compliance and temper tantrums, but we feel more much prepared to deal with these challenges now and we're less likely to get angry. I'm really appreciating the progress we've made and I'm enjoying the journey of parenting much more now.

I continually seek her consult because of her expertise in counseling children, parents, and families. The majority of therapists have been trained to work with adults in "talk" therapy. Katherine is unique in that she has years of experience working with children and parents. She also understands that the best way to support a child in healing is to hold the full experience of that child, which includes all the people who are a part of it. Katherine's approach is both highly relational and experiential. What that means for her clients is that sessions feel like a gentle, fun, yet deliberate and steady journey toward intimate healing and growth. This also translates into achieving goals sooner rather than later. If you need help navigating the challenges of parenting and want to feel more connected to your child, call her. She's a gem!

After 6-7 sessions with her, she's given us the tools we needed to take on those normal challenging moments with young kids that are yelling, having tantrums, not eating new foods. I knew I needed more to be fully prepared and ready to partake in this life changing and sacred event. Susan's class filled that void and thensome! Books (& hospital courses) can only get you so far. The Birth Journey course gave me plenty of opportunities to look deeper into my fears, expectations, hopes, and appreciation of the birth process. The course helped me get in touch with the psychological, emotional, and spiritual sides of birth --that are sadly so often ignored. It also gave me practical tools to use while birthing...dealing with pain and the awareness of what my body and baby were going through. I highly recommend this experience. It was also very valuable to interact with and hear from the other participants. Susan managed to jam-pack those 9 sessions with lots of useful information. She is a gifted, highly experienced, teacher. We had a wonderful home birth and I know this course and Susan's guidance helped us do so.

The course goes far beyond the basic physiology of birth, and works on a psycho-emotional level to connect the parents with the birth process and their unborn child. While alternative, at no point did the instructor disparage traditional medicine. As for the negative reviewer below: Admittedly, the course is not designed for someone who is seeking to only learn how to undergo "modern techniques" such as pain killers and C-section. As that reviewer recommends: those are taught in his ascribed "hospital based" courses. I also encourage readers discouraged by that negative review to read his other reviews...which are mostly 1 stars of local business. I sense a troll looking for make-it-right handouts and refunds...

She is highly organized and very responsive. I also loved the online mom support groups with different topics covered each week - these were so helpful! For the doula services, Alana was wonderful. She is very laid back and easy to talk to while also being super knowledgable and attentive. I wasn't sure if I was going to try to have a natural birth or get an epidural and I felt like Alana was ready to support me no matter what option I wound up choosing. Also, my husband tends to be very anxious around any medical or hospital setting so we weren't sure if he would be able to be with me for all of labor and delivery. Our meeting before birth was great because Alana was able to listen to his concerns and talk him through what L&D would be like so he wouldn't be so nervous. We only wound up being able to have one pre-birth meeting because my baby decided to show up 6.5 weeks early! Thankfully, Alana was able to meet us at the hospital within an hour of my husband calling her (around 3am??). My labor proceeded very quickly and we were both overwhelmed because we had not anticipated having our baby that early. Alana remained a calm and consistent presence throughout my labor and for a while after delivery after they took my baby to the NICU. She was also able to ask the nurses and doctors questions we had completely forgotten to ask and kept us up to date with everything that was happening. My husband wound up being able to stay for most of L&D and I think a lot of that has to do with Alana being there - we both felt fully supported the entire time. We had three post-partum sessions with Alana and they were also incredibly helpful. I would definitely recommend her to others and would love to work with her again if we wind up having another baby (hopefully closer to my due date next time, hehe)!
