Note that I make every effort to be fair, truthful and detailed in my accounts and reviews as you can see from my other submissions. I also usually maintain documentation; records, emails and messages to substantiate my claims. About two years ago my fiancé and I engaged Ms Koegl's professional services, primarily to prepare us for marriage (communication skills, conflict resolution skills, adaptation, etc) and to help us best cooperatively manage my fiancés Borderline Personality Disorder or "BPD" which was a challenge in itself. I also desired to work on ways to improve myself and be a better partner to my future wife. I was very willing to accept that I had my own work to do. After all, I had been the one to propose to my fiancé that we seek support for our relationship. After the first session which was largely informative and directional, some of the deeper issues and emotions relating to how the BPD was affecting my fiancé and relationship came to surface. It was quite emotional at times but we trusted Joanne to provide us with understanding and guidance on our issues, to share how best to take care of ourselves and each other, and to work through the occasional episodes that could occur. BPD can be a serous condition and is largely rooted in trauma and fear of abandonment so we were taking this very seriously. At a certain point it became apparent that providing my fiancé private sessions with Joanne might be helpful. I was paying all such costs (joint and individual) and it was not cheap but I was determined to provide our relationship and my fiancé with all the support we needed. After a few months or visiting Joanne, and unbeknownst to me, my fiancé informed me that Joanne had started to suggest that my fiancé end the relationship, that I was a narcissist and that she should essentially 'run'. My fiancé told me that at first she was alarmed by this and actually started to consider if it was true, if I was not who she thought I was. After all, why Joanne would suggest such a thing, behind my back and so secretly. But as we began to talk things out privately my fiancé was able to overcome her alarm and feel grounded with me again. Eventually she expressed every confidence in me again and even stated that she did not believe in her heart that such warnings were justified or true. She felt bad for me knowing that I had selected and trusted Joanne. Joanne NEVER told me she was telling my fiancé such things. Quite the opposite, Joanne and I met privately several times and she led me to believe that she was committed to helping us improve our relationship. All the while, she was advising my fiancé to leave me. My fiancé shared with me the email messages that proved this. Joanne had breached her duty to us, and had betrayed our trust. If Joanne for some reason felt the relationship was doomed, unhealthy or not something she could provide support for, she should have informed me first and then suggested we find another form of support. Never should she have leading me to believe she was helping us reach our goals while behind my back, speaking so negatively of me and undermining the very efforts we were making to be responsible and prepare ourselves for marriage. I see it as a betrayal, a breach of duty, grossly unprofessional and duplicitous. When I subsequently confronted Joanne on the matter, she admitted to such actions. She said she was wrong and regretted her actions and that she misjudged me and that later she realized I was a good man and genuinely trying to do the right thing for my relationship. What a bizarre and troubling thing that was for me to hear. There were sessions that were more intense and emotional than others, but that is where Joanne should have been patient, not judged, and simply seen that as part of the process of uncovering and working with deep feelings, not to turn on me. A therapist has a duty to not rush to judgement after one or two sessions but to allow their clients time to cycle through the levels of emotions, beliefs, history, etc. before an overall assessment can be fairly made. My fiancé and I stopped seeing Joanne and thousands of dollars later, and much disappointment and wasted time and energy, I was left only with the opportunity of sharing with others our story. I see that she has some good reviews and some very poor reviews. Im not here to comment on the experiences of others, but in our case, I deeply regret the trust I placed initially in hiring Joanne to help us. In early 2023, I reached out to Cristina on a recommendation from a colleague who is a trauma…read moreworker themselves. Cristina was unavailable, so she had me book an appointment with a junior therapist in her practice. At the time I suffered from major depression, and had been passively suicidal for some time. Within the first few minutes of my appointment, I became severely dissociated. The therapist said she was putting me on a "5150" (involuntary hold), meaning either someone could come take me to the ER, or she would call a team to come get me. A friend drove across town to take me to the ER, where I quickly stabilized because I received the warmth and competent care I did not receive from the therapist. I was discharged that same evening. It's taken me over two years to understand that I dissociated due to the therapist's affect during her greeting and our initial contact, then her reaction to me sharing my suicidality. I was not in imminent danger, and it was her behavior that triggered my trauma response -- which a skilled therapist could have de-escalated. Taking away my agency entirely with a 5150 was *not* appropriate, and a trauma therapist's office should be the one place it's safe to disclose wanting to die without people freaking out. During the nearly three hours I waited in her office -- feeling trapped -- the junior therapist had Cristina on the phone a couple times for consult. But Cristina never asked to speak with me directly, which was an oversight. I wasn't offered any remediation while I waited either. Perhaps they've improved in the last 2 1/2 years, but this experience has haunted me enough to write this review much later. Clearly, many people have found relief and healing here based on other testimonials. But I do not recommend this practice for suicidality, cPTSD, neurodivergence/overexcitabilities, or active trauma responses.

She was kind, friendly and always making sure that I was comfortable. She was as also very clear with scheduling and would send me an updated picture of my complete schedule if any changes were made. I interacted with a couple other staff member with administering TMS and scheduling or assisting with correspondence with Dr. Berry. Communication was always friendly and clear.

The audacity... Extremely disappointing experience with this practice, specifically its handling of billing and insurance. I selected this practice based on the understanding that Dr. Benjamin Berry was in-network with my Cigna insurance. When I received a $215 bill, I contacted the office. After I explained that Cigna was showing the provider as out-of-network, the practice told me IN WRITING that Dr. Berry was contracted with my insurance and that they would resubmit the claim for reprocessing as in-network. They further stated that the balance would remain on hold while the insurance review was completed. What happened next was incredibly frustrating: I was never informed of the outcome of that reprocessing. I received no follow-up explaining that Cigna had ultimately maintained the out-of-network determination, nor was I told that the balance was again considered due. Instead, months later, after I was no longer a patient, I received a new invoice with an immediate payment deadline and a collection warning. I had to contact Cigna myself to finally determine what had happened with the claim. Cigna ultimately confirmed that Dr. Berry was not in-network for my plan and that the $215 was my responsibility under my out-of-network benefits. I understand that insurance determinations can happen, and I am not criticizing Cigna for applying my benefits. My issue is with the practice's handling of the situation: conflicting information about network status, a promised claim reprocessing that was never communicated to me afterward, failure to provide the outcome of that process, and then a collection warning months later. The $215 is frustrating, but honestly, the money is not the biggest issue. The lack of clear, timely, and consistent communication is. In all, I ultimately paid the balance, even though I remain very dissatisfied with how the matter was handled. And now receiving a "FINAL NOTICE" after the balance has already been paid is an especially frustrating way for this experience to end. If you are considering this practice, I strongly recommend confirming the provider's network status directly with your insurance company and getting any billing/insurance representations from the practice in writing. My experience left me with very little confidence in the practice's billing and insurance administration

But life circumstances eventually led me to Jacqui, and now I'm actually grateful for the hardships that brought me to her. She's different from any therapist I've ever worked with. Jacqui really helps you dig deeper and look at things in a more honest, meaningful way. She doesn't just tell you what you want to hear or coddle you, because that wouldn't actually help you grow. Instead, she challenges you in a supportive and thoughtful way that pushes you to understand yourself better. I had never heard of ART before and was honestly skeptical, but I was desperate and willing to try anything. Hands down, it's one of the most valuable techniques she has in her vast arsenal of tools to help her patients. The first ART session with Jacqui was about 2 hours, and no specific issues occurred. The 2nd session was a week later. About 30 minutes in, she noticed the ART didn't work as she expected, and her comment about the failure was due to my "language barrier," which I strongly disagree with. Even English is not my first language, I passed 2 most difficult bar exams in the States, and I've been practicing law for the past 12 years in California. Jacqui's instructions are nothing compared to the judges' instructions I have to follow for my work. Jacqui's instruction was basically "imagine your emotions being washed away by a waterfall," something simple and similar to this. However, she told me not only once during this session that the failure is because of the language barrier. She made me feel absolutely terrible, and I had to cut short the session. Eventually, Jacqui admitted that ART doesn't work for everyone but emphasized again my language barrier. We are all vulnerable already when seeking help from a therapist. Now Jacqui makes me feel even worse as this ART doesn't work mainly because of my "language barrier." If Jacqui evaluated that my language barrier is a concern or issue for this ART, she should've noticed it at the first consultation and stopped it, rather than continuing scheduling and charging me $180 per hour for the following sessions.

She taught me about the importance of self love and empathy, understanding others and ultimately myself. I don't think I could ever regress into the person I was previously, a person who hated themselves and couldn't fully connect with others. The doctors/providers working here are great. I have no complaints with the service provided here…read more It did take quite a long time to complete assessments; which is understandable and explained prior to care. I am taking stars off for the billing at this center. It is truly offensive and baffling. Something I have never experienced with ANY doctor or company ever. I went through insurance and copays are to be expected. However, they do not asked for payment upon service nor do they send a bill to pay by a certain date. In fact, they don't even provide any kind of prior notice. At any given time or date, with absolutely no rhyme or reason, they simply take various payments from your bank account and send you invoices after the fact. Sometimes $35, $70, $140, $200... Again, this is with no prior notice that they will be taking the payments and for what amounts. If you are like most people, you are not rich, and don't always have the amounts available to be deducted out of nowhere. So please beware before you book with them. They will get their money whenever they feel like it, and you have to be ready, at any random time, for them to take the money out of your account.

So I've tried quite a few therapists and interventions and it wasn't until working with the…read morewonderful people at Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates that I really felt that emotional healing was possible and that I could start to see the light at the end of the tunnel following decades long depression. Havening techniques and other techniques have helped me (someone who defaults to over-intellectualizing) get out of my head and into my body which I've found is imperative for healing emotional trauma. With all that said I'm really here to share my experience with the Neurofeedback training done with Rebecca Turner. Having done so much healing and reprocessing through talk therapy, I still felt that my thought patterns were like a hose turned all the way up, whipping around, unable to catch, and control, soaking everyone around me. The initial brain mapping (which is done first to know what areas of the brain to target for training) reflected with tangible data what I was experiencing inside. Ms. Turner described it to me like "your two hemispheres are yelling at each other" which turned out to be one of the most validating things my brain has ever heard about itself. The neurofeedback training process itself is not as complicated and/or intimidating as the name sounds. If one is doing eyes open training, you essentially attach some small sensors to your head using a conductive goop and watch a tv show while the screen brightens and dims in response to the information collected by the sensors and neurofeedback program. For "eyes closed" training, you listen to lyric-less music while the music adjusts the volume to help train your brain. And it all works. I feel good about myself. Shame is now a passing emotion instead of a state of being. Rumination is down ten-fold as my hemispheres aren't "yelling at each other". My thoughts and feelings don't control me as much and/or send my on a downward spiral. If you are someone who feels your emotions are often become too much for you to handle that even standard therapy couldn't alone help, might I suggest neurofeedback?
