While you can lose weight on this program I was very disappointed with a number of things. The holistic drops you take are really not proven to be effective. The label on them is associated with a Church I don't support. I met with Dr. Carter but he never told me that I'd be meeting with one of his colleagues after that. I feel he should have been upfront about those things. The main reason you lose weight is it's a low calorie program which is fine but the things I mentioned above made me feel like this was a dishonest approach. Dr. Carter's Wellness center is great. I've been going to him for weight loss and chiropractic care for 5 1/2 years. I am at a point in my life where I just want to be healthy!! I have had successful weight loss through his program. The homeopathic drops do make me feel better overall, and have been the best match for me, head to toe, for successful weight loss. I've tried all the diets out there. I have gained some of the weight back, but that is on me and other health injuries that have impacted my daily routines. When I can return to my normal crazy busy life's routine, I know the program will be successful...AGAIN. Whether a person spends a ton of money buying food that isn't good for them, diet programs with pre-made meals that contain a bunch of preservatives and chemicals, or an investment with a professional doctor who is investing in you, the bottom line is that it is an investment in your own health. Dollar for dollar, Dr. Carter's program is the better choice. Because of my injuries I stopped the weight loss program because I couldn't stick to the routine closely enough to maintain effective weight loss. Now I am seeing him for chiropractic care for multiple areas of my body. He has all the right equipment for a complete physical exam in his office. No 2nd and 3rd appointments to get answers. 1 appointment. Your first appointment you will know what is going on and what is needed. I arrived totally in pain, couldn't sleep because of the pain, new areas showing up with numbness and soreness. Now I am 95% pain free, and I'm 90% through the treatments. That is huge. I will start by saying that I completed the full program from Carter. I will try and summarize my experience as best as possible and also go into why I gave them 2 stars. I went in to see them after meeting someone who had done one of their programs and lost weight. I knew I needed to lose weight so I went to see them. I had tried cutting back food, exercise and other methods but was just not very successful. On my first appointment Carter put together a full program for me. It was thousands of dollars. Which for me was the main motivation that kept me going with the program. I just wasted so much money on something anyone can do alone. Might as well finish it. You do however get a good discount if you pay all up front. Later I realized it was most likely because plenty of people probably realize the program is overpriced and would just drop out. Unfortunately for me I paid all up front. The program cuts back on your food intake and food choices dramatically. You go from your normal diet to a diet of healthy food at minimal portions. For the first week you feel horrible. It slowly gets a bit better but really you always feel horrible and with no energies. With the program you also go on a program of different drops which who knows if they actually do anything. If I remember correctly I was on about 7 different drops. So yes you do loose weight very quickly by basically starving yourself on healthy food you already know was healthy. My problem was with the drops they make you take. I rarely have heartburn (Acid reflux) to where I need to take a tums or anything. When I was in this program I began to have heartburn about every other day. To the point where one night I drove myself to the ER after about 5 hours of horrible heartburn. Since I had never experienced heartburn like this before I didn't know it was heartburn and was afraid it was something to do with my heart. So I went to the ER. I was there for about 3 hours and then they told me it was heartburn. I mentioned it to Carter and his assistant Carol (which at one point is all you deal with since Carter disappears and hands you over to her). All I was told is that it has nothing to do with the drops or the food. I knew the food wasn't a problem but the drops I wasn't so sure about. Essentially I go on for months getting heartburn. Finally I run out of drops and the heartburn goes away. I fell of the wagon and gained some weight so Carol recommends I go back on the drops. I pay a ridiculous amount of money for just 2 of the drops out of the I believe original 7. Within 2 days of going back on the drops I get heartburn. I am not eating anything that should trigger it. The only change is the drops. Now I don't claim to have performed a scientific study to show the drops triggered my Acid reflux but I do have a bachelors in Biology and can set up a simple experiment and come up with results. I went on and off of the drops within a time frame of about 3 weeks. Every time I went on the drops withing 2 days I had heartburn at least once. When I went off the drops withing 2 days I was free of heartburn no matter what I ate. That is good enough for me to put those drops away. It is clear the drops triggered my Acid reflux. What pisses me off is the fact that Carol always denied it could be a factor. I brought it up to her specifically at least 6 times. I had horrible cases of heartburn all because of these overpriced drops which most likely do nothing to help you loose weight. All in all it was a really bad experience. I get it. They run a business. However, based on how many overweight people they work with I cant believe these "doctors" haven't made a connection between their magical drops and Acid reflux. My recommendation: If you have a few thousand dollars laying around go ahead and do the program. Good Luck to you. If you do not then just make yourself a healthy eating program and stick to it. I would also exercise plenty. Carter and his assistant actually tell you there is no need to exercise while on their programs but anyone can see how that's a ridiculous thing to say. I went to Dr. Carter in late January based on a recommendation from a friend for losing weight. Dr. Carter has a wellness program that he calls "forever skinny." My story isn't too different than many others'... slowly tacked on a few lbs. a year until one day woke up and realized thats I was 30+ lbs. overweight. Being a lifelong athlete I had to do something drastic to kick start a weight loss plan. The program is not easy, but it isn't extremely difficult either. If you follow their careful instructions, you will lose weight. I'm down 30 pounds and feel fabulous! You do need to make some sacrifices along the way, but you need to decide what's important to you. I work in the wine biz and had to give up wine for a few months. It was difficult, but I did it.
