So the last time I bought a car I went to a dealership that I had never visited before, and I told…read morethem when I got there that I usually go to the dealership down the road. The first thing they said to me was that I shouldn't be going to the dealership... Now I told you that story so I could tell you this one... I visited Vancott Jewelers for the first time yesterday. Within the first few minutes of speaking with the lady that greeted me. I mentioned that I usually go to Van Horn Jewelers in Owego and her next response was that she had heard that they do very good work over there. She made a couple of other comments that were positive about the competition and then asked what she could help me with. My first thought at this point was that Van Horn Jewelers must be doing a pretty good job if the competition is telling me so and it made me feel good that my previous decisions on my jewelry purchases were pretty good as well If this place is telling me that the other place does good work. So anyway the reason I stopped in was to have a watch repaired. It's not an expensive watch in comparison to others, and in fact it's probably going to cost as much as it retailed for originally to fix it If not a few dollars more. I was already aware of this by doing some research and I am okay with this. I had originally taken it to another place to have it repaired and I was told that it wasn't worth it because it would cost too much which I didn't feel was that other guy's decision to make, so I took my watch and went home. Vancott Jewelers didn't approach it from that angle, but instead understood that I was looking to have this repaired, quoted me an estimate and a price for shipping. The woman I was talking to at this point is named Carol and she was most helpful. She showed me what she thought the problem was, and was very polite and courteous. This all happened yesterday, I haven't received the estimate yet, and obviously haven't had the watch repaired and yet here I am already leaving five stars. The end result of what I decide to do with my watch in my opinion isn't relevant as the service I've received so far was exemplary.

They quoted a much lower price than what I expected. When I did check the price, I realized they made a mistake (perhaps) and went back into the store to discuss the issue. Upon entering the store, I explained it might be a mistake and was told there was nothing to be done. One of the girls kept insisting the price was for $170 for the swing. That price is for a refurbished swing. There is a lower price point swing by the same manufacturer that sells for $160. Refurbished swings that are the same model as mine sell for $170 while brand new swings sell for $220. They offered to return the swing back to me but I refused as I'm in a financial bind at the moment. They didn't care enough to do proper diligence when purchasing my items. That means they won't treat you right either. When I called them out on it, they went above and beyond to embarrass me and make it seem like I was in the wrong. It was humiliating. At one point, one of the clerks said there was staining on the web belt (it's not gross just minor) and stated she wouldn't sell it for more than $80. They even went as far as to show pricing (for a refurbished swing) at $170. I tried to point out that it was refurbished but the girl wouldn't even go to the online store page so I could show her. So not only did they take advantage of me, they tried to save face in front of their customers by making me look like I was a deranged woman. Do not sell your baby gear here.
