On Monday I made an appointment for Saturdayto install an xm antenna at 11:30. I called on Sat and was told he was very busy. Try at 3:00. I returned at 3:00 and was told too busy till next week. I was only in town till Sunday So I waited a week for no reason. He might do very good work but business practices are poor. read more

I went and met Lary for the first time a Cartronics very pleasant gentleman easy to work with. I called him and he said come on down in an hour and he could work on the stereo in my boat. He was very professional very timely and very considerate. We went through did the diagnostic on my boat stereo I got water in it. I asked him how much it would be to replace the head unit he told me $200. We replaced it to work excellent I have had no problems. Very professional very easy to work with good people. First clue I should have gone elsewhere was the choice between only two radios. I didn't really like either one, but was pressured by family to get this done as it was my birthday present. I already had a system with an amp in the boat, however it really was junk. I asked him to check the amp and if it was good, go ahead and use it. If it was bad, replace it. I asked what he could get me for $800. He said he could get me a nice system and he would check the amp. They did fit me into the schedule and got the work done in one day. When I went to pick up boat, first thing I noticed was new speakers not quite as big as old ones, so Two screw holes visible in the fabric under the speakers. ugh, He said the amp was ok, but the fuse had partially melted which was why my old sub wasn't working. Cynthia turned the stereo on and it sounded good. I had her turn up the volume and got a serious case of "over modulating". she quickly turned it down a little and looked at me like "that sounded good right"? She turned up the new subwoofer and that sounded good. I wasn't really impressed with what my $819.00 got but was more of a thing for the family rather than me, so I paid my money and left with a supposed one year guarantee. Fast forward three months. Fuse has been blowing to amp about every 3-5 hours of use. Ok he said he checked it out and it was good but it was old, so I bought a new one and installed it myself, except for wiring as it needed RCA cables and I didn't have any. So I thought I would call him and ask him to hook up the wires as part of the warranty coverage. Nope. He went on to say that the amp blowing fuses that way was probably a speaker wire issue. I said ok, that should be a part of the warranty right? He said no. my comment was " but you installed the speakers and wired them" therefore that should be covered under warranty. again "No because it was your amp", was the response. I said, but I asked you to check the amp and replace it if it was no good. At this point i was getting angry and rather than be an %%$ i just ended the call. So I know this could go either way, but for $819, $392 in parts (prices collected off Amazon today). and $240 in labor costs. oh wait. thats only $632. $ 40 in tax, $147 in markup on the equipment. thats $819. I moved to town recently and needed to have some work done on my boat. I wanted to put a subwoofer in and add some speakers. I brought it to Kenny to see what he had. He took a look at it and made a couple of suggestions. I had limited space as to where to put this subwoofer. Kenny did an excellent job installing it. Kenny also did several "fixes" that needed to be done because the existing system wasn't working properly. The install came out way better than I thought it would. He gave me a great price on the install. I also checked his prices on the speakers after the fact and I couldn't have gotten a better deal anywhere! I'm very satisfied with his work. The fact that he went the extra mile to fix a lot of things that needed to be fixed and charged me no extra for that was a very nice plus. I read some of the other reviews and one of the gentlemen said he had the personality of a tree... ouch,! That's a bit tough. Kenny may not be a used car salesman but he was very nice, very helpful, and got the job done quickly and at a great price. I would highly recommend him. I plan on getting more work on the boat and I will be bringing it to him. Oh, and the day he did my install when he was writing up the invoice he checked the date and realized it was his 25th anniversary at that location. I highly do not recommend this place at all. I tried this place out do to their high stars and the guy told us "you do not need a new box the smell is coming from ur sub" so I bought another sub and the smell still continued. We took it back and told him the smell is still happening and he said "yah it's the box that smells, you need to get a new box". He just wants to get more money out of you. read more

I paid 600$ for a new sub and installation. Worked perfect then one week later the sub stopped working. Fine, I took it in, he pulled it out, "fixed it" and put it back in. Worked until the end of the day then stopped working again. I took it back and he kept it for the day and said "I did a more permanent fix, last time I tried to just do a temporary fix" (whatever that means) so you should be good now". He never really explained what was happening. Every time I asked he just said he fixed the wire? Cool, it worked for a couple days then stopped once again. Was going to bring it back in and he said he was so busy I would have to wait. So apparently once he has my 600$ I'm nothing. I got frustrated and called him and said well how about I just give you all your equipment back and I can have a refund, I paid for this system and it's not working & I kid you not this guys straight yelled at me. Told me I was being pissy and if I continued it would get me no where. He even hung up on me. He told me I blew my sub. Really? If I blew my sub he failed to mention this when I first brought it back?? Plus I don't understand how he can even fix that? But WOW. I feel like I'm usually pretty reasonable and will give the benefit of the doubt but this has been the worst experience & I definitely do not recommend. I went to cartronics for their prices. Cheapest place to get a car stereo put in, in town. Well I guess you get what your money pays for. I got a new car, so I took out my sub and amp that I had in my old car for 4 years. I took it to car toys first and they wanted $350 plus parts! To install it. So I took it to cartronics and he said he could do it for $280 which is much cheaper than car toys. I dropped my car off at 11 am and it wasn't done in till 5 pm. He quoted me that it would only take 4 hours. I got my car and everything worked just fine. The next day my sub stopped working. I checked everything to try to figure out why it stopped working, I took it back down to him and he said because it was old, and that I need a new amp. I told him that the amp was still on and the light was blinking like there was a problem. He checked it out and found that the fuse on the amp it self blew. He said that it could have happened because the sub went back. He tested my amp and said that it seemed fine, and that I wouldn't have to get another one. I would just have to get a new sub b/c the one I had was old and just went bad. I bought a new sub from him, and a better box from him too. He installed it for free. I asked him if I still needed to buy a new amp from him. He said no this one should work just fine with the sub you bought. 4 days later, while i was driving, I could smell something burning. It was my sub. Smoke was pouring out of it. I hooked everything and took it out of my car right away. After it was done smoking I took it down to Cartronics. The guy then told me that I was either abusing the sub by having it set to high or it was my amp. I told him that I didnt have it set high, and that I have had a system 4 years prior to this and never had any problems... So he said it must be my amp. He said he would mail back my sub to the company to get it replaced. I came back a week later. He was very rude. He told me that he didn't send back my sub, and that I would have to pay shipping which was 40 dollars. Also he said they might replace it. He said he would not re install it with the amp that I had in my car. I said that is fine. I was planning on getting a new one just not at this time because I didn't have the money. I felt that he should have to pay for the shipping, since I asked him if my amp would have been okay for this sub. He told me yes. That everything should be okay. It also says on the his receipt to save it for life because something might go wrong later down the road. Also that everything installed was check..... I went home and looked up the sub I got on amazon and could get the same exact sub brand new for 40 dollars. I haven't had any more contact with him. I woudn't suggest any one going there. Next time i have stereo equipment installed. I would go out of this town, or pay the extra money for car toys to do it. read more
