My husband and I walked in as the "warehouse sale" caught our attention. Not a single sales person greeted us or went over the sales special with us. Another couple walked in shortly after and they made sure to have greeted that couple. This is not the first time I've experienced this at this store. We were just coming from church so we were nicely dressed! When we left no one said anything to us either. It seems like a theme with this store, the sales people are not at all inviting. This is my go to for my nicer or more higher end jeans. I have but several pairs of my 7 jeans, Mavi or my Paige jeans here. They have really good quality jeans. High end and some more reasonably priced jeans too. The staff is patient with you and let you try on as many pairs of jeans and takes the time to make sure you're satisfied with your purchase. I have jeans for pretty much everybody, teens and adults of all ages. This is one of the original stores that's focused on jeans. If you're in need of jeans, this is a place to go to. Time for a generalization. Here it is: most women love to shop, except for jeans and swimsuits. It isn't untrue. There just seems to be such a "cycle of disappointment" that you experience every time you try. Well, Caruso Caruso is the reason that you need to keep trying... for jeans, at least. They have lightning fast service that is also good, which allows you to quickly find a pair of jeans you will love. This seems impossible, but isn't here. I promise. I came in with several people after a large brunch, exactly when you should not be trying on clothes, and was greeted in the first five seconds. The sales person asked me a series of specific, but not jarring questions that seemed to sort the inventory for her and off she went. When she came back with four pairs, she explained why she has selected those pairs and left me alone. Each pair was better than the next. When I came out of the dressing room, she explained a little about the stretch and wear I should expect. Within ten minutes, I had a pair of jeans that I love even weeks later. I grew up a huge CC fan... the store was tiny when I was a teenager and it's grown so much over the years! They've always carried really cute designer denim, accessories, etc... and always had a fantastic selection for both men and women. Going into their new location last weekend when I was home brought back a ton of memories. The girls that work there were probably not even born when I started shopping at CC with my friends so many years ago. But one thing has stayed the same - CC carries cute clothing! Great selection of retro t-shirts in addition to all kinds of tops, dresses, jeans, etc... I purchased Jared a 'Say Yes To Michigan' retro t-shirt and I purchased myself a 'Made In Detroit' retro t-shirt as well during my last visit. Caruso Caruso is the premier denim boutique in Michigan. They have selections that you just can't find at the mall, and a much wider selection than all of their competitors. Their store used to be in 3 separate locations (Frankie & Debbie's, Its the Ritz, and Caruso Caruso) for decades, but a few years ago these were all combined/consolidated into one location. The result is a family-owned, "mini" department store with fashionable clothing for men and women of all ages. Yes, if you go to the mall you can find a small percentage of the lines that Caruso Caruso carries, but you will have to go to at least 5-10 different stores, deal with less-than-desirable salespeople, relatively poor customer service, and the prices won't be any better. From my experience, the sales staff is helpful, yet not pushy. Their policies are very reasonable, and if you sign up for their e-mail list you get to take advantage of promotions that they do not advertise, which can be quite a savings. The best thing to buy here is denim. Blue jeans. But, having said that, they also have a host of other products (shirts, tops, jackets, sunglasses, etc). The denim here really is the best in the metro Detroit- even the ENTIRE state. I agree with the other reviewers, if you want help, you need to ask. When you do ask (c'mon, muster up the courage) they are extremely knowledgeable and listen to what you're asking for. Lennon, a co-owner with his father Frank, is a denim guru. I told him what I liked about certain pairs and disliked about others and he found some (or try four) pairs that I wear nearly every day. I do miss some of the eclectic stuff that It's the Ritz (another store of theirs that is now closed) carried, but they still do a great job of offering items that not everyone else and their brother does. Personally I find the attitude of the people working there to make this place incredibly unwelcoming and unappealing. I cannot recall how many times I've walked in there and no one offered to help. The girls just stand around and talk/stare. The clothing here is just average-- you're better off just going to Nordstrom. Same clothing, better environment, and way less attitude. I was really excited to come here when I read the reviews, but kind of disappointed. Jean selection is great and actually decent prices. The guys side had some awesome designer jeans on sale for $90! The t-shirts are soft cotton and retro, something you might find in Urban Outfitters, but more original. Service (I thought) was lame. The girls working there look about 14, super skinny, and sipping their starbucks looking very COOL. Not exactly jumping up to help anyone. Finding the right pair of jeans is on par with finding the perfect guy. You know...you have to find the one that looks the best, feels the best and, of course, compliments your ass the best. When you have the right guy and right jeans, all is good in the world. Sadly, I personally always have problems finding the right pair of jeans. Now, I've tried all the stores in the mall. Levi's and I split up because they discontinued my favorite cut. Lucky Brand and I are on a break. I have even tried Target, but with little success. I reluctantly decided to try Caruso Caruso. I knew their selection is amazing, but the prices tend to be prohibitive. But thankfully, they have some hella amazing sales. Be warned though, the styles here are more for your teenaged and college aged cousin than for the late 20s, early 30s girls that still want amazing jeans that make your ass look good. I did have to some searching to find a pair that looked good and didn't make me look like I was having a high school fashion flashback. I think I totally lucked out. Both my husband and I got a pair of jeans and I picked out some Toms shoes for less than $150 during their sale....not too shabby! As for the staff, I know there are some mixed reviews. It was only most recent visit did I feel like a valued customer. The girl that helped me out was kind and patient and pretty knowledgeable. However, that was the only time I have run into service like that here. Prior to this, I would run into no service whatsoever...it seems like the girls won't really help or acknowledge you until you look like you are serious about shopping. So there we go. They regularly run sales, just get on their email list. They also have a yearly trade in program. The owners really care about their business and there is a personal touch there. It's my first stop, and typically my only stop for jeans in metro Detroit (for guys anyways) I would recommend going in during the day on a weekday when they aren't as busy. On a vacation to visit some relatives in MI, we went to dinner in the Birmingham area. After, we wandered into this store. I love MI. I love the food, the friendly people, the weather is great. However, this store is a typical overpriced, snobby, "We think we are better than you" venue. I am no stranger to any of the brands, and admit to paying $$$$ for jeans, but what made this store so unpleasant was the atmosphere/sales staff. Rude, inattentive staff. Given the area and the prices, I expect more. Staff is non- responsive, chatting and laughing with each other, completely unhelpful. My friend was offered something to drink, she declined and was offered it again 3x. We would have preferred help in finding sizes, not cheap wine. I went to pay for my items and the salesgirl did not even look at me. She rang me up, did NOT TELL ME THE TOTAL, just asked for payment, and proceeded to talk with another girl. IF I am going to spend over $350+ I expect a smile, hello or otherwise. I walked away- I decided my money could be spent elsewhere. My friend noticed the salesgirl did not even stop talking to her friend as she deleted my total. CC, if you are going to overcharge on premium denim, make sure your staff is up to speed. For Christmas this year, i was given a gift card to Caruso Caruso. "Buy anything you like," said my enthusiastic gift giver, "Just make sure it's some kind of article of clothing for your legs. You know... something nice" *Fair enough*, i thought. Eventually, with some gentle prodding, i visited CC a few weeks ago. I could (i hoped) get past the mannequins clad in spring fashion as long as i beelined straight to the men's department. Never fear! No sooner had i looked at a pair of jeans when all of the sudden a friendly member of the staff (Hunter) approached with no less than 5 different styles to try on. Wait, uhh... there are *styles*? He politely showed me into the dressing room and stood waiting outside. Each time i would step out, Hunter would ask me to do a full turn. Looking me over, we worked our way through the small stack of jeans until he finally gave me the thumbs up on the last pair. This particular pair (a brand of dark-wash Hudsons) fit like a glove and slipped on like butter. This level of personal service is part of the Caruso Caruso experience. The staff gives you an honest and fair assessment of what you should buy and then goes a step further by measuring your tastes against their own so you can leave knowing what you purchased is going to look great no matter what. I sincerely appreciated that. No really, it was awesome. Not only did Hunter help coax me into a denim-induced state of nirvana, but i left the store confident that i had just been handed the nicest pair of jeans I've ever owned. Which (to me) is saying something. Can i paint a picture for you? Imagine an almost 26 year old man. Now imagine this guy is an unwitting poster child for Target. He wears homogeneous outfits with colors that never make sense. His only jeans are an uncomfortable upcycled set of Levis or things his brother once found at a Salvation Army. He passes through his early twenties thinking, "Well this must be what comfort feels like. Jeans are just scratchy and threadbare and that's it, isn't' it?" WRONG. Comfort exists! As much as I love vintage racks and thrift prices, there comes a time in a girl's life when she needs to buy a pair of jeans brand new -- and the only flattering fit might cost some benjamins. This store is lovely! I am definitely a girl who loves a great deal and recently noticed they were having a sale for students and I couldn't resist! They have the cutest selection of Detroit apparel and accessories. I was able to snag some unique pieces and some super cute shades. I loved everything except they high price points on some of the items. After the sale is over I can't really bring my self to spend that much on some of the items. Caruso is the best place in the Detroit area for trendy clothes and designer jeans. I think they have the best and most reasonable prices as far as small boutiques go. Plus the girls who work there are super friendly and helpful. I really like that they are dog friendly too! I always bring my dog just because I know they will always let me. If you are around Birmingham and haven't been to Caruso yet, you are doing yourself a disservice by going to the mall...forget the ridiculous crowds and annoying parking garages and just get everything from Caruso. read more

LOVE this store. if you're into finding unique items, this is the place to be in the birmingham area. they have an awesome collection of jeans (from true religion to hudsons) and i love their autumn and winter coats. i think all of my autumn and winter jackets are from caruso, and i always get complimented on them! i was just in there a week ago with my boyfriend (who is a super picky shopper), and he bought a ton of stuff. he approved (which is huge!!) the only downside: on a rare occasion, you'll find that the girls that work there are not that nice...but normally you'll go in and they are eager to help you! read more

I just visited Caruso Caruso for the first time and I was extremely pleased with my experience. For starters, I have never seen a better selection of jeans and the vintage clothing they also offer is phenomenal. Before I arrived I figured that the store catered more toward woman than men, however after visiting I have to say that the men's clothing selection was just as good. I was also very pleased with the friendly help of the staff. I told the person who was helping me exactly what kind of jean I was looking for and before I knew it I had 7 pairs of jeans in my arms to try on. The personal attention that I received truly made the experience unforgettable. I will absolutely go back to CC for all of my future jean needs ... not to mention the next time I'm looking for a vintage t-shirt or hoody. I was directed to the store by a representative of Nudie jeans because I needed to make an exchange. The staff was very helpful and accommodating at making the exchange. Lennon was as close to a denim-head as I've seen in Michigan. He knew how every piece of denim fit was able to make recommendations based on the fit that I was looking for. Their denim selection was top notch as far as designer jeans go. They have a large size range, sometimes it's hard for me to find jeans that fit (size 23) but they carry a lot of variety to fit every size. Very cool store with a great vibe, stylish / good quality clothing and without a doubt, exceptional customer service. So, here's my experience. Had an incident with an online order that went unfulfilled due to an inventory error, which was disappointing but not a big deal, I could get past it. So, I was given a "golden ticket" for 20% off a future purchase, which was meant to compensate for their error which I appreciated. However, and here's where they go above and beyond...a few days later I received a call from the store owner ( Lennon ) who was extremely thoughtful and sincere in his explanation of the problem and wanted to personally offer his apologies for any "inconvenience" - and promised he would make it right, providing a positive Caruso Caruso customer experience typical to their brand. WOW!! Such a cool guy who made me feel important and valued. Further, he DID came through only a few days later and fulfilled my order, true to his word. That's how you enhance your brand in this insanely competitive retail space. Jeans on jeans on jeans! I couldn't believe how many there were to choose from. This was my first time at Caruso. My sister in law dragged me shopping and at first I thought I would hate this place. But I was actually finding lots of things that I liked. I would say if you are looking for jeans, this is the place. They do have other items that are worth the money, but it can get overwhelming. Love this place! I went over my lunch hour and was in and out in 30 minutes. You are greeted when you walk in the door. I told them what I was looking for and the girl who helped me pulled a couple pair of jeans for me to try on. Based on how they look and the feedback I gave, she pulled a couple more pairs and I found 2 perfect pairs of jeans for me. Yes they are more expensive than what you may buy other places BUT 100% worth it! I won't go anywhere else for jeans. I have a flat rear and they jeans make me look and feel incredible. Let me start by saying they had a great selection of clothing at various price points. I was impressed by that, but was disappointed with this store in regards to the employee who insulted me, when I quickly found myself in my very own "Pretty Woman" moment. I tried on a pair of jeans which were over $150, not the most expensive jeans, but not the cheapest either. I didn't like the fit, and when the salesgirl asked me about them, I just said I wasn't sure. She immediately said "we have jeans at a lower price point," which is completely besides the point. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I was in street clothes (read: leggings, slip on sneakers, a sweatshirt and a backpack) or that she was just rude and judging my funds, but I was completely offended.
