He answers questions and provided great guidance and treatment recommendations for an autoimmune condition that I have which is now much better controlled. The staff are all pleasant and kind as well and the office uses contact-free check-in which is handy so that you don't have to line up at the counter to wait to be checked in. I've been going here since I moved to the area a few years ago and while sometimes it can take a little bit to get things scheduled, I have alway been pleased with my experiences here. I go for both standard dermatology screens, specific spot cancer screens and a couple of elective procedures (ex: facials). They seem to have had turn over, but things work well. I love the technology used for the contactless check-in. It's an effortless process. I came in to see Dr. Subash. Many other dermatologists in the area had a long month-long wait to be seen, not here at Cary Derma. Convenient to work and home. I came in for a routine skin check on a spot and hives that were concerning to me. Dr. Subash provided thorough feedback on my skin health and remedies to heal appropriately. You will not get options or teamwork with doctors. You will get a pay this or see you later. No help, just referral , and another appointment, right, I see a pattern .. I was looking for a second opinion on a disfiguring condition. When I called to make an appointment I was told I had to download the new patient forms and submit them first. Not a problem. (BTW I could find NO fax number nor email on their website, so I didn't know how to submit the forms.) I texted to their "text" number provided on their website twice to ask for a way to provide the forms to them and hear nothing back for days. Then I called and heard in their recorded message that the text number is actually a different number than provided on their web site. (!) Fine. I texted the correct text number to ask for an email to send my forms to. I get sent the email address and no other comment or information (see screen shot). Again, not a problem. I sent an email with my completed forms explaining what kind of appointment I was looking for and asking to confirm my insurance coverage and didn't hear back for several days, so I sent another email asking again for assistance and didn't hear back. I called the office and spoke with Valerie who told me they aren't accepting new patients without a referral from a doctor (info also not on their web site). OK, that makes sense. I kind of wish the first person I spoke with weeks ago had told me that, but no problem. When I told Valerie I had been waiting to hear back and had sent two clear emails with my new patient paperwork, she said "Who knows what the front desk does with emails." OK, what? And when I asked if they had a doctor who was familiar with my condition she said, "Honestly, I've never heard of that." OK, well she isn't the doctor, so that's no big deal. But that wasn't very helpful. After I explained that I had sent several emails asking to get the info, Valerie said, "Well, I don't know what those emails said." Our conversation was like hitting my head on a brick wall. So, I just said, OK, I just wanted to let you know what is happening in your practice. And she tersely said thank you. The past few weeks just trying to connect with this practice is like the worst treatment I've had in quite a while--almost like being difficult is their policy. Unprofessional, indifferent, and completely broken systems (wrong info on web site, no communication process). I had even shared a screen shot with them to let them know the text number on their web site didn't match the text number provided in the recorded phone message. Meh. Why bother. Now I've wasted a few weeks trying to guess how to get an appointment at this crazy place. I would have no trust at all in this practice and their ability to manage themselves out of a paper bag. I've been going to different dermatology centers for awhile, and I've been to Cary Dermatology Center twice! I've finally found a good dermatologist! Dr.Subash, the nurses, and the receptionist are all very nice. I'm not sure why there are reviews that they are rude people. I don't typically leave reviews unless a business is either exceptionally great or terrible. Dr.Subash really listens to what I have to say and is very patient. He explains everything throughly! He asked if I had questions about anything else and he examined another small issue I was having and gave me a resolution. I've been a patient at Cary Dermatology since 2016 and have been satisfied over the past 5 years. I visit for my annual mole checks and in 2019 had several visits for an unexplained skin rash. I've felt the same amount of attention and respect during my typical visits as with the visits pertaining to the rash. I've been raving about Cary Dermatology. I've only been with them for one year. I've had a body scan, which I was very happy with, very professional. I've also had some of my sun spots zapped, which I was also happy with. And again I've had 2 bouts of botox. The first one was good, but not the second. So, you usually have to wait 2 weeks for the botox to settle before you come in for a follow up. But I knew something was wrong after 1 week, as my right eyebrow goes up like Dr. Spock. I called in the first week and they asked me to wait for the additional week to see my doctor. I had a choice of scheduling an appointment for the next week, but the one day they had open I was busy that whole day and couldn't take it. So they had to move me to the end of July. I moved things around for a Thursday opening, but when I called back yesterday, I had to leave a message. Nobody called me back. I called again today, but they didn't have anything until July 11. I'm out of town from the 7-28. I asked them if they could squeeze me in anytime July 5-7 but it was a bust. I told the person on the phone I'd only need 10 minutes, but no go. Not until July 11. I even asked to see the other doctor that performs botox, but no go. I was really disappointed that they couldn't fit me in. I won't be going back there. Looking for a new dermatologist, if anyone knows of a good one in Cary or around Cary. read more

I can't believe what just happened. I have been calling the office for the last two days to confirm a referral because I needed to be seen somewhat urgently. Not only was I met with poor communication but, the attitude of the receptionist was so incredibly difficult, rude and condescending that I'm never stepping foot inside of this place ever!! I tried to explain my situation multiple times only to be met with, not being told exact details or truths about their process of accepting referrals and entering new patients into their database. I kept trying to get a straight answer from the office on whether or not my referral had been received. My doctor had called just moments earlier and spoke with someone who had them resend the fax. And somehow no one knew where my just faxed referral was- but wait... now that would be in the hands of the referral coordinator who happens to be ... yes you guessed it- not in the office today. After multiple attempts to confirm my referral and book an appointment I finally squeeze it out of the receptionist that I would need to wait 2-3 days in order for my referral to be processed and then wait even longer for an appointment to be booked. I tried to no avail to ask about how far out the appointments available were and was told very vaguely that they wouldn't guarantee anything but it was looking like March would be the first available time. So after waiting several days, talking to multiple people from their office about how I needed to be seen somewhat soon- I'm getting the total run around from their office, - I'm still without a dermatologist and I need to be seen sooner rather than in March which is 6-8 weeks. After I tried to advise the receptionist that I was not happy with their run around and that they should communicate more clearly about their processes and procedures for time frames for new patients, I was met with thick sarcasm. The receptionist actually said " I'm sorry I'm not educated enough to speak to you with good communication so that you understand what is happening" ... are you serious lady? Are you a grown up? I could hear her laughing at me under her breath as she said this to me. Unbelievable -and so immature, rude and tasteless. I am absolutely appalled at this business and would advise anyone who wants to be treated well to avoid this place! The treatment of your patient and potential patients starts with your customer service, and these people clearly do not appreciate even their potential patients when they have questions that need to be answered and addressed. read more

I had a bad experience with appointment setting and feel I over reacted in a previous post. I'd like to correct that, but am having a hard time figuring out how. the gist was that two appointments in a row were mischeduled/overlooked and I ended up waiting two hours and didn't get my appointment. the office people complained I yelled at them. I tried not to lose my temper, but it sounds like I did and I am sorry about that. I might not have reacted so badly if they had been more empathetic. nevertheless, I learned something valuable about myself through the experience. I Bought a package of 5 peel treatments! I asked the girl who has been doing my treatments at the end of todays session if today was my last treatment...She said yes but when I went to the front desk to check out to my surprise I had to pay! The I am sorry was not good enough for me. Really...I am not ought to be giving bad reviews and very rare I ever do! It may have been partial my responsibility but I asked...but at the same time, how about letting your customers know ahead of time/communicate just to simply let them know before the appointment and or before treatments that there will be charge, and that previously paid package is over; just simply out of courtesy. When we told them we are moving out of state they took the time to give us names of providers they respect in that state. He wanted to take a biopsy of a spot on my shin that I thought I might be skin cancer. Thankfully I did not move forward with him doing the biopsy. Disappointing that when prescribed a medication that requires a visit every 30 days, you cannot get an appointment within the 30-day window! Either they should stop taking new patients if they cannot accommodate requirements of the medications they prescribe, or they need to warn you before you invest your time. Not impressed with the PA we've seen at all. Went in for a specific issue, got a call back that the results of a culture was negative for what they thought it was. Never got a solution, a follow up, a suggestion on what to do after that. Still trying to fix my own issue, since they're not too concerned about it. Looking for another practice that is more concerned with treating patients they have instead of getting as many as they can in for billings. I had the most amazing experience with Cary Dermatology. I went for redness in my skin that ended up being rosacea. Before I could ask about she asked me about a bump on my forehead. I have been to 3 dermatologist for this bump in the past three years and all said it was ok. She did a scraping and it ended up being skin cancer. I was immediately sent to have it removed. I have been a patient here for well over 10 years and I have never had a problem; they are exceptionally good at what they do and I have always been very pleased. They are very professional and friendly; I always get my questions answered. Yes they may run late in seeing you but I work in the medical field and good practices do get backed up but this is everywhere and if you are seeing the best, you have to have patience; it is not that they wish to be behind in seeing patients; they also want to finish on time as they have a ton of paper work that has to be done. I called for an appointment and, due to a combination of skin issues and age asked to see a dermatologist. The person said no, they only will give me a PA. I wanted a dermatologist due to the complexity of my issues. She started talking over me in rapid fashion on how great the PAs are; they may be but I had a very bad experience years ago at another practice since that PA didn't recognize vitiligo and ignored the small spot on my face despite my pointing it out. Two years later a dermatologist recognized it immediately...but by then it had expanded all over my back (where I couldn't see it) until it was too late to stop it. As I tried to explain that I really wanted a dermatologist the woman rep on the phone hung up on me. The good news is that I know now this is not the practice I want. read more

I have been here twice. Last year in July and today July 11. I give it a 0 if I could. Both visits had to wait, this year was so extreme. I received 5 reminders. My appointment time was 9 am. I made sure I arrived 10 minutes early. I waited in the waiting room 30 mins only to be called and waited behind closed doors 40mins. So unacceptable. I finally had to open the door and tell the nurse I had to leave to be somewhere else. No one ever came into the room to give a update. NO one should ever have to wait this long. My time is just important as anyone at this Dermatology Office. Dr. Tarsha was my PA she was completely done in 5 minutes. I have been going to dermatology appts for 50 yrs. Never have I ever been done with a full body scan and visit with a Dr. that quick. I was with the same one for 10 yrs until I moved and then been with the same one until she retired. This undoubtedly the worst experience 2 years in a row. They wanted to schedule for next year. I told them I would not be back. Believe it or not they didn't care. I love the staff and my doctor here. In fact they've been able to help me solve some issues I've gone to three other doctors for. I feel that they actually listen to my concerns and don't brush them off and prescribe something quickly. Everyone is so friendly and easy to talk to. It must be wonderful to work here also! My issue though is two fold - one, I've never waited so long before in a waiting room to be seen. I have to take work off to come here because of their hours and I'm always left waiting forever. Two, I hate that I'm unable to renew my prescription each year without being seen despite the fact that I haven't changed my dosage in four years. Booked an appointment with Cary Dermatology after doing some research online. Because of my new patient status, I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment with a mid-level. At the appointment the mid-level prescribed a medication for off-label use and sent me home with a fist full of samples. I get a call 24 hours later to discontinue use (thankfully I did not fill the prescription and waste the money) and to come back in to see one of the dermatologists. Not only am I disappointed that I was given a prescription erroneously but that they are suggesting I come back again. Bottom line, if a staff does not have the knowledge to write a prescription for a known condition they should either be monitored by a more experienced dermatologist or asking for a consult. As an aside, rubbing your eyes and telling a patient it is too early for your brain to work is not a good way to earn trust with a patient. read more

And it didn't work, and they wanted me to keep coming back and paying co pays with no resolutions, except eat healthy and drink more water...which I already do! Don't waste your time. read more

While the doctors are great and know what they are doing, I let myself get sold into a skincare treatment program. BIG mistake. 6 visits and $500 later, my facial skin is completely unchanged. The minor wrinkles and small discolorations are still there although she was telling me that the treatments would remove those. Nope. And for several weeks one of their machines was broken. The chemical peels did nothing - only one time did I see a little redness. So I just threw $500 out the window. Finally, the front desk folks do not seem warm or caring. They just take your info, make your appointment and do not seem welcoming or service oriented. That should be addressed. I cannot recommend. read more

From the moment she spoke I knew she was passionate about what she does. She took the time to really listen to all my concerns and develop an action plan to tackle everything. Very smart and great personality. Didn't feel the least bit rushed eventhough I ask a lot of questions. Front desk crew was very nice. Virtually all my experiences with Cary Derm have been very positive. I did switch doctors. I read about complaints of waiting a long time. Well i was there on Tuesday and from the time I checked in was mole screened and one removal was 30 minutes. I use Christine M. Benigar she is a P-A, but she is awesome. I hardly wait more than five minutes. She now has wacked off a few of my moles. She has a great "bedside" manners, she will joke around with me. I personally would recommend her to anyone. I have a standing yearly appointment with her for almost five years now. read more

The lab is DermTech and out of network for most people. $1300. Guess I'll be making payments forever. Absolutely not going back to this place. Cannot recommend, after a horrible experience with Dr Heather Lampel. She was 45 minutes late for our appointment and when I dared to calmly and professionally raise the subject - expecting a 'oh, sorry about that' response - I was instead treated as if I was difficult and unreasonable. She took a quite manageable customer service issue and by her response made it much worse. I imagine she's unfamiliar with the idea that the customer is always right, or at the very least treated as if they were. So after some back and forth this was just too much for her and she abruptly cancelled the appointment! I was a regular customer there but suffice it to say that going forward I'll be taking my business to a dermatologist who values my business as well as my time. read more

Do not get the patch test with Dr. Lampel if you have an HSA, as the insurance does not pay for this test and it costs $1400 if you have Cigna. Cary dermatology center will not tell you this beforehand as they do not know if you are on PPO or HSA. Dr Lampel is awesome! She was really funny/ great at putting my super nervous 9 year old at ease - he had stubborn warts and she knew just what to say (and DO) to help him.
