The waitress took a long time to start taking our orders. To the point we all decided what we wanted. Then when she came she told us because our group was so large, they could not do mimosa flights. About 10 of the 15 people were all disappointed because that's what we literally went there for. The waitress was short with us and even when we asked for more water, she put two bottles down for the whole group. Which we went through quickly. The food was ok but the bar literally took almost 30 minutes to get the 4 mocktails to the table that were ordered. It is a great location, but they need better signage for those of us with tunnel vision. They have an outside patio, but the weather was a little nippy when I was there - next Spring & Summer it will be pleasant and the view across the valley of the Sandia Mountains will be perfect. The Tasting Room is big and modern. with a separate room for special events. The tasting bar was longer than usual, but accommodated everyone who stepped up to order one of their great wines. I was given a taste of the "7 Briks". Oh my, it was delightful. Sweet, but too much. I generally don;t care for sweet wines, except for an after dinner drink . . . but the "7 Briks" was exceptional. Next time, if I can bring myself to do so, I will try their other wines. The NMHWC event was wonderful. The Pasando Tiempo staff were friendly and professional. Explaining his love for each season of wine making, explaining how trying different wines was good, our palettes change, we talked about corks, and food pairings and how he doesn't make sweet wine and so much more, in fact so many wonderful topics about wine that I left knowing more than when I entered for a mid-afternoon tasting. I enjoyed his knowledge and honesty & thankful that Martha gave me Chardonnay to try. Sometimes we just have to step out of the box and while we may like a certain wine it's good to try others because like me, you'll enjoy something you didn't think you would. Get your friends and your loved ones or go it alone and visit their beautiful location for local wines and if wine isn't your thing, have a local distillery cocktail or a beer. My husband and I waited outside while my mother went in to check. the woman inside was rude and said you're basically taking your chances if you have your dog around hers! Why not just say no dogs allowed? One of their yard dogs, a very large golden retriever mix, was v very aggressive towards us as I walked back to the truck. It is not a safe place for people nor for dogs. My husband and my mom walked back to the car with the dog while I went in to check on the wines. I asked what kinds of wine they have and the response was "award winning ones." Nothing else, as a paper was shoved at me. I seriously doubt their local resiling and Beaujolais-style red have won any significant awards. I was not offered a tasting. I was only told that I could buy bottles if I wanted. The place was very very dirty and all the bottles were in cardboard boxes, nothing on display. So I did not try the wine. We left and will not return. I will also not try their wines if at any event where they are served. Not really sure how they stay in business. Go if you must, but be aware that you might not be safe and the owners are generally not friendly.

This results in the "ok" rating I'm giving it (as a wedding venue), but please read carefully, as I think it might be wonderful for some things (a liquor tasting?) and not-great for others. (I write this after a specific inquiry for a report by a bride-to-be friend of mine, figuring that what I told her on a text from the property might be of interest to folks here on Yelp.) Algodones Distillery is situated on a beautiful quiet property in a hamlet north of Albuquerque, nestled down by the Rio Grande with lovely trees and grass, a pond, beautiful xeric landscaping by the buildings. Glorious. The drive in is charming, enjoy the one-lane passage through the tunnel under the railroad bridge and marvel at the prettiness of the bosque in the area. The people working the beautiful wedding I attended here were _very_ gracious and helpful. The tiny sample of the Navy-strength gin I tasted was . . . sublime (I'm planning to head back to buy a bottle when it's back in stock). There were nice areas for dancing. It was really, really hot, and even though there were shaded areas, it was hard to escape the heat in the venue. Bugs and mosquitos were notably present at the late September afternoon wedding we attended (bug spray was made available, but I don't know whether that was due to the distillery or the wedding planner). The restrooms we used were in the residence - it was lovely in the house, but it felt intrusive to need to enter a home to use their restrooms. The distillery bartenders were FAR more disorganized than I'd ever imagine at a place that sells alcohol, resulting in long waits for drinks (this continued throughout the evening). Finally, parking was a challenge for many at the wedding (we arrived very early and were able to capture the very last parking space on the property - many people had to park pretty far away along the road and had to be shuttled to their cars by golf carts. There was some buzz among the staff about people who'd parked too far along the driveway in violation of an agreement with neighbors of the distillery. So, in summary - I really liked Algodones Distillery but as a venue, there are things of which people should be aware. Appearance of the place: 5 stars. Service but for bartenders: 5 stars. Bartender service: 2 stars. Parking: 2 stars. Restrooms: 3 stars (nice enough, but just awkward and some had stuff from the wedding party in them). Liquor: 5 stars. Environment (kinda not in their control, but this is where they built their outdoor venue, so it's noteworthy): 2 stars (nowhere to escape heat, serious bugs)

Our waitress was alright, but admitedly the table next to ours had a waitress that seemed to go above and beyond for her customers and knowledge of the menu. She could have trained other staff. The biggest reason for the downvote was a restroom experience. I waslked into the restroom and noticed the smell was unpleasant and the ADA stall was clogged. I went to the smaller one, but as I sat, I heard gurggling. The toliets backed up as did the drains very quickly. I managed to get out of there as fast as possible, but still got dirty feces waste all over my shoes. I immedately notified the hostess and my husdband asked for the check. Between the time this happend and we walked out the door, the sewage was seeping out the bathrooms with no signs in place and no seeming rush to correct this issue. The smell was overwhemling and I can only assuem that many others noticed. A sewage issue means the kitchen also cannot wash dishes or sanatize properly. The resturant should have notified custumers and the party, while allowing poeple to take their food home. This unfortante incident caused our night to go arry.
