Hotel Roma 191 Okay…read more So I reserved my room through Expedia. And mind you, my room looked NOTHING like the one shown in the photos. My review would be divided into different sections. Overall I give this place a 1/5 stars. Go somewhere else. Background info: So on Expedia, my booking noted: - room requests: 1 king bed, non-smoking room - Deluxe room (Pissarro) Experience: So there's no doorbell or anything. I knocked and called the hotel number to let them know I was there, not as issue. Prior to us arriving, hotel owner had spoken to me over the phone and informed us that his credit card terminal was not fully functional and suggested we either pay cash or wire transfer the funds. Bringing a limited amount of cash and wire transferring that amount of money was not an option. My flight was already delayed for six hours and hearing this news was not the start of a pleasant experience. I do appreciate the owner/manager staying late since my flight was delayed six hours. And we arrived around 8:30pm-9pm. Once we got to the hotel, he was still very persistent on cash/wire transfer since the issue will not be resolved till the following week. I was not in the mood to debate on the payment options so I offered to give up my reservation and find another hotel. He "called his brother" who said a new credit card terminal will arrive the next day to complete the transaction, how convenient. He did arrange for a driver to drive us to Teotihuacan, which we had to pay for. We ended up transacting the cost of the room the morning after. Mind you, the check out process.. was not existent. I informed him that I will be checking out at 6am since we had an early flight. No one was there. I left the key on the key rack. Took a picture and left. Not going to risk missing my flight. One thing I didn't appreciate was that I noted the room to be non-smoking but once I walked into the hotel, there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. Have you ever been to a heavy smoker's home and the entire place smells like cigarettes? This was the situation. Room: Initially I didn't notice that the bed was a queen bed and not a king. We arrived so late and was so tired, we just knocked out. My partner who is 6ft noticed how little room there was on the bed. When speaking with the same guy the next day, he said we had booked the "Pissarro" room which is a deluxe room. He showed me the room which was incredibly small. The room we stayed in, which I believed was "Caravaggio" was also incredibly small for two people. He suggested that if we were to request a king sized bed, it would be an extra 300 pesos. We were only staying there for one more night (a total of two nights) so we didn't fight it. WARNING: Apparently deluxe means "queen bed" so be careful how you booked. Wished he reach out earlier to notify us that the Pissarro does not have a king bed. The room also doesn't have a safe. So just be aware. Our room did not have any windows facing outside. The only window was in the bathroom, next to the toilet and shower facing the stairwell that connects the first and second floor. This place only has a spiral staircase. My partner had a hard time luggage his checked baggage up to the room and back down and the guy didn't offer to help, very unpleasant experience. After every shower, the bathroom floor would be soaked. Not sure why or how, even though we secured the shower curtain to the edges. The edge/rim of the shower was low. So eventually water could splash out. Not convenient at all... we had to use our bath towels to soak up the water. We needed extra towels but there was no way of contacting the guy or any staff. The room is something you can show off on your instagram but by bedtime, we moved all of the extra pillows to the shelves in the room. Our room wasn't necessary clean either. Spots of dirt-like stains in the shower and a few hairs here and there on the sheets, whatever. Location: Located in Condesa. somewhat convenient for some walking distance. But otherwise you can Uber/commute to a lot of different places. Would I stay here again? No. Thank goodness I was only there for two nights, already two nights too much. It wasn't the cheapest place either. For that amount, spend it at a hotel. There's no amenities here. Except for water when you enter the building. We didn't find any reviews on this place and decided to take a chance, bad mistake. Do yourself a favor, and stay somewhere else. Also, I attempted to use a travel credit card to pay for my rooms. Listed as "shopping." Dont bother using the hotel card for points.

When I saw all the 5 star reviews I thought, no way, they must be all fake, how could any place…read morehave such glowing reviews and nothing negative?! But after my stay here, I can say they were absolutely right!!! This is the most perfect hotel/B&B EVER. I'm so glad I stayed here over other soulless hotels that were cheaper. From the first welcome to the last goodbye, every staff member here has made us feel so warm and cared for. Breakfast: This was my absolute favorite part -- I usually don't care for hotel breakfasts because I'm always on the go, but once I had the first bite, I moved our itinerary around so that we could get their breakfast every morning! They start around 7am with the bread and coffee, but the hot breakfasts start at 8am and end at 10am. I got to try chilaquiles, enchiladas, and enmoladas while I was here, and they really make them with heart and soul! These were the best things I ate during my trip to Mexico City! Also really loved the outside garden in the mornings with all the greenery and birds chirping. Location: in the heart of La Condesa, walking distance to Roma Norte, both neighborhoods were great for strolling through parks and art galleries. We ubered to other places further away and it was so cheap and convenient. Rooms: We stayed here for 4 nights and went to Oaxaca for 3, then back to the Red Tree House for the last night, and both rooms we had were cozy and comfy, with AC. They have great shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, amazing water pressure and temperature, everything was so clean, and I got to sit outside in the balcony and took it slow for the last morning we were there. Housekeeping was amazing, everything was perfect when we came back every night. Safety: They lock their front doors and the front gate so you need your key to get in, and there's a safe in every room. Happy Hour every night 6-8PM: This was such an unexpected bonus! I didn't even plan for us to be at the hotel during those hours because I wanted to see everything in CDMX, but it ended up raining during those hours and we went to one, and it was so much fun chitchatting with other like-minded travelers who shared what they loved about their trip -- We ended up going to a few more & got so many tips from other guests! The hotel dogs Romeo & Booz - I love them and miss them so much! Side note: I LOOOOVED all the art work and interior design and colors. Felt like I was in an art gallery but at the same time so comfortable at a friend's home. HIGHLY recommend!!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

We were travelling from Australia. Our room and the ambiance of the house is tasteful and cosy with a stunning art collection, soft music and a beautiful peaceful garden. It is a refuge away from the busyness of the city. The breakfasts are to die for and the happy hour was an opportunity to socialise and network which is helpful when the city is new to you. For me the two friendly resident pet dogs were a bonus as I was missing my own. I can't recommend the Red Tree House enough.

There's only four rooms and you have the staff's undivided attention. The lush common areas were so beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with two common areas to have food or drink and a lovely rooftop with a bar. They cleaned our rooms twice a day and always left thoughtful touches like tea at night and cake, balloons and a note wishing us a happy 10th anniversary. I can't say enough good things about this place! I was truly blown away. The neighborhood in Roma Norte was just perfect. It's the creative hub in Mexico City filled with boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and galleries. The tree lined block felt like a Parisian boulevard. I enjoyed popping into the numerous bazaars and we walked to great local businesses like Panaderia Rosetta and Lalo. We can't wait to come back and stay there again!

Absolutely everything about our stay was perfect and we are already talking about coming back. First of all, the location cannot get better. Nima Local House sits quietly on a pretty treelined street in Roma Norte and we walked EVERYWHERE from there. To the Museo Nacional de Antropología, to lunch at Pujol in Polanco, to Arena Mexico for Lucha Libre it was really easy to explore this beautiful part of Mexico City on foot. The staff is incredibly kind and made us feel welcome and like friends the moment we walked in the door. We checked in with a glass of wine and selected our own aromatherapy oil for our room. The staff was so helpful... they helped us with dinner reservations, help finding things in the area, ordered us delivery when we chose to enjoy a quiet dinner on the roof, etc. The epitome of grace and they made us feel like they were personally invested in making sure we had everything we needed. They even emailed us before we arrived to ask us what we preferred to have for breakfast. All of those little things made a huge impact. But this hotel is SPECIAL. It only has 4 rooms- it's intimate, quiet and beautifully designed. It's so pretty, our room was gorgeous with a very comfy bed and there's a really nice, lush, green rooftop bar area to relax. There is no way we won't be staying here next time we make it Mexico City. Thank you for making our trip so special!

Stayed here for 6 nights and had an overall decently comfortable stay. Would stay here again!…read more Arriving around 2pm via Uber, there was a short wait at the front desk for check in; the line itself took 7-8 minutes and then check-in took about 15 minutes. It was a tad slow for my preference though I understand systems at each hotel and norms for expedience vary since NYC runs at breakneck speed. A room was not ready, though they gave us the key cards first, so we dropped off our luggage with the concierge and left the hotel to grab lunch. After returning, we approached the concierge who asked for our room number and brought the luggage up to the room. Three elevators bring guests up to the guest room levels, with a long corridor extending in one direction with about 46-50 rooms in the same hallway. Entering the room, the bathroom is immediately to the right within, probably 10x8 feet, pretty good sized with a single sink and shower (no tub). Hairdryer, basic bath amenities (shower cap, sewing kit), three sets of clean, fluffy bath towels, a bath mat, hand/body soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner by Eleven Australia. Water pressure was moderate and not super strong, water temperature was consistent throughout our stay. The only couple small issues were: 1) the bathroom sink was leaking a little so when you turned on the faucet you could feel tiny splashes onto your toes. It wasn't a huge issue so we didn't say anything, just kinda dealt with it. 2) the bathroom fan is quite loud, though works well, and turns on every time you turn on the bathroom light. To the left of the room entry was a good-sized closet, with ironing board, iron, maybe 8-10 wooden hangers, a plastic laundry bag with instructions on how to use their laundry service. Full body mirror available on the inside of one of the closet doors. Room safe also available though we didn't use it. Walking into the rest of the room, a combo TV console/drawer/shelf wall unit was positioned at the front of the room, with a mini fridge (empty) inside a lower cabinet. The TV (maybe 46"?) was affixed to this unit at a slight angle, though perfectly ok for bedtime watching. Directly under the TV was a designated space for luggage; a foldable small luggage rack was also available. There's a desk with multiple outlets nearby and a small coffee table with lounge chair. The king-sized bed was comfortable, they gave 4 fluffy down pillows, and while they weren't super supportive, definitely much better than a lot of other hotels. Sheets were clean and pressed, they give an "environmentally friendly" card to place on your bed if you want the sheets changed. The room had good air circulation even though the windows don't open, maybe too good. Since it was a chilly January (40ish degrees Fahrenheit at night) we actually couldn't figure out how to turn the fan off because it got cold at night. There was an extra blanket in the closet which we didn't use since we hadn't noticed it until the day before leaving. This seems to be a pretty popular hotel with tour groups, we saw many groups checking in and out while we were there. All our interactions with the staff at the hotel were positive or neutral, they seemed pretty courteous, the cleaning ladies would say hi passing you in the hall, the doormen would greet you when you entered the hotel. The neighborhood around the hotel felt safe and comfortable to explore. Surprisingly a lot of Korean restaurants nearby. Not sure if there is parking though don't recommend driving due to the traffic congestion in CDMX.

Mostly, everything was quite nice but we did have some problems. All staff we interacted with were very helpful and the front desk staff all spoke English. Some big positives were the food served for breakfast in the lower lobby and also on the 12th floor if you purchased a "Premium" room which entitled you to have the choice of going to the 12th floor not only for breakfast, but for a Happy Hour where you can get wine and beer. The buffet was large and staff kept busy keeping it stocked. If you wanted a little more quiet then go to the 12th floor. The pool on the 9th floor was a great size but the literally attached three hot tubs had no temperature difference. You got the bubbles but this design didn't work for us. Our rooms we stayed in were nice but we also had some problems. One room we had to ask for the shower drain to be unclogged. The clog resulted in the slowly draining water ending up into the bathroom itself all over the place. Another issue we had water dripping from a ceiling light fixture onto the toilet. After reporting this issue and coming back at the end of the day after sightseeing, we were told we had to switch rooms as they could not determine the cause or fix the problem. I did ask for some form of compensation for the inconvenience and was offered a late checkout or bottle of wine but no financial benefit. We took the wine. One of our friends had a nonworking hair dryer. The hotel has some shops where my kid got a beautiful new bag, and they also have travel and financial services in the basement. They have an ATM but the machine did not accept my card, and someone in our group had their card stuck in it resulting in having to get maintenance to pull the card out with some pliers. The lobby bar is open until 1am. Nice. This hotel caters to a lot of groups and conventions. One day, there was a massive protest about Palestine that walked directly in front of our main entrance. Hotel staff would not let anyone in or out and I got scolded trying to take a picture. Police outside also were also stopping patrons from taking photos. One thing I did not like about the room is that to operate any electrical outlets and lights, you have to keep your keycard inserted by the door. So when you leave for the day, there's no heating or air conditioning working. You may consider getting an extra keycard to keep in the slot for the day which we did for the days we were here on our own. The elevators seem to have no rhyme or reason when they get to your floor. They have a bank of four and on multiple occasions it took several minutes before arriving. My family and I overall had a nice time at Barceló México Reforma. They did their best to keep us happy. We were really impressed with the food services. I can also say that there is so much within walking distance of this hotel. We hope to return someday.

I…read moreregret booking it for 8 nights.  I had been emailing the property for a few weeks to make sure I got an adapted room. I am on a wheelchair so it is critical for me.  The day of the check in they gave us a normal room and we had to wait for 4h to get an adapted one. Once I asked, as compensation, they gave us a bottle of wine but I would encourage them to be more considerate with people with disabilities. 4h of waiting is not a 5-star experience! No matter if one is disabled or not.  I wanted a premium room but none of them are adapted. I wanted a room with a single bed but none adapted either. I wanted a room with hard floor for easy rolling, none of them are adapted. That's discriminatory. If you are paralyzed you get the worse rooms.  The bathroom adaptations are an afterthought. The bar in the shower is in the wrong place. The soap dispenser is unreachable. The toilet so close to the wall that's very hard to use. Each time I went potty it was a workout.  No other adaptations in the room. The AC remote also hanging in the wall unreachable because there if a bed in front.  The adapted rooms are dated with old carpet floors unlike the renovated ones.  The ramps to get in the hotel are too steep and slippery. The pool has stairs to get in so not a chance wheelchair users can go.  The elevator for wheelchairs is malfunctioning. When you press the L from the M floor it closes the door, then opens again, closes the doors again and then it goes. When I told them about the issue the answer I got was that "this is how it works because it was old". Funny how it doesn't do it in any other level.  I had to request towels twice. You never know what towels you will get each day. The room service is inconsistent and sometimes they knock at 7 PM to clean the room.  Randomly, someone from maintenance tried to get in the room despite the do not disturb sign.  Breakfast is good and varied. There are lines sometimes. The orange juice placed in a lower floor area out of reach of wheelchairs.  Thursday 2/19/26 we didn't get the room done despite leaving the sign to clean and being out for 7h. Not a 5-star experience. First day I had to take a tepid shower with barely any water pressure. When I asked the reception to fix it the next day it was a little warmer but the same. Hotel said it was fixed but it wasn't.  Friday 2/20/26 when we arrive from a long day the AC is not working. Maintenance comes, says they fixed and stops working by midnight.  Saturday, 2/21/26 we have to change rooms because of the AC. They said is fixed but still not cooling. One lady at reception was very unhelpful during the room change because she didn't want to let me check the new room before I packed and moved there. After waiting 4h first day for maintenance to clear the room and end up having issues she didn't understand why I wanted to check it.  310 has the correct water pressure and temperature in the shower so the issue was in the 210 not the hotel in general like we were told. Why do they lie to customers? What kind of maintenance do they run? 310 has no remote for the AC so if you are in a wheelchair you need to call someone to adjust the temperature.  In general, the hotel feels like a 3 star and if you are staying one night it might be ok. I stayed 8 nights and it was not a good experience.  I would recommend them acknowledging the issue the customers bring up. Stop gaslighting them and giving poor excuses for everything.  Fix all the issues as they come and REFORM the whole place paying attention to modern adaptations standards.

Dafne was exceptional - we communicated via email prior to our arrival. She helped arrange a car pick up at the airport and also helped us book a couple massages, setting it up in an empty room as a surprise for my husband. The massages were heavenly by the way. Juliana was also amazing- she gave us fantastic recommendations on where to eat locally, and always offering to help when we needed it. A few notes about Casa Goliana - It is gated and they have 24 hour security that let you in. Area is safe and this seems standard for bed and breakfast in the area. It is one flight of stair up to the reception area. We were in a King Suite which was another flight up - stairs were fine for us, but a consideration if you have mobility issues. Location is great - a few blocks from Collima which is where all the great restaurants are and not far from Parque Espana which is a great place to walk around. Noise level - a number of reviews state this place can be loud. When we stayed, we were one of 2 rooms there. It is an old house that has been converted to a B&B - I think a total of 9 rooms. Creaky floors in some spots, and the wardrobe in the room was loud if you didn't attempt to soft close the doors. However, it didn't bother us and since we normally pack ear plugs when we travel so we had no issues with a sound sleep. Bed was really comfy by the way. It was close to the neighborhood we wanted to stay in, so I would call it a win. They only have 8 rooms, which makes it a great BnB. The receptionists and doormen we've had the pleasure of meeting were all amazing. They were so kind and welcoming. The only downfall is the AC unit. We had sleepless nights because of it. In the middle of the night it would start making a buzzing noise, and not the kind of white noise you can sleep through either. It also didn't feel that cool at night, it was kind of humid. We didn't complain because everyone is so nice there! Hence the 4 stars for the AC... The place is homey and beautifully decorated. The mister and I really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend it. There's plenty of places to walk around the area too. We used Uber, so it was convenient. It's only a 20 minute drive to and from the airport.
