Casa de Oro has the distinction of being the only Mexican restaurant in Kellogg and if you are craving Mexican food it will serve. Parking is limited. The restaurant interior is festive but worn, with upholstered booths whose seats show tears from years of use. Service was fast however the server didn't hear my order correctly and I ended up with the wrong type of enchilada. I ate it rather than send it back. The waiter didn't offer to change it, he only said that he didn't hear me correctly. Our meals were ok, perhaps the refried beans were a bit salty but, all in all, the food was ok. The margaritas were excellent. Will we be back? Since it is the only Mexican restaurant in town, I guess we will. read more

This is a nice and cute Mexican place in Kellogg close to the resort we were staying. We were starving after a long day and there didn't seem like a lot of options in town. When we came to casa de oro, it was full of people and had a fun vibe. We got a table quickly enough and were given chip and salsa. This was good. The salsa was not spicy but had good flavors. Kiddo loved it. For me, i had a hard time picking an option as it wasn't apparent on what can be made vegetarian. Usually the other places i have been to are able to switch meat with beans or veggies but here there was some resistance in some dishes. I did order veggie burrito. Hubby ordered mexican pizza with fajita veggies. The food was good. Mexican pizza was flavorful and cheesy. Burrito was decent too. Service was friendly and good. Sad to report but this place has gone to hell in a hand basket, as my grandmother used to say. They used to have consistently excellent food and service. Then 3-4 years ago something changed. I asked if ownership had changed and they said no. We were desperately hungry the other night and thought we would give them another try. It breaks my heart to say it's gotten even worse. The restaurant is pretty small and looks like a "hole in the wall" but the food and staff were exceptional. Beware the portions are huge, and two people can probably share and be full off of one dish. The drinks are large and strong, and they even give each person their own bowl to pour their own salsa. Well, as someone who lives only 400 miles from Mexico, I've eaten in a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years. And, I never expected to find one that served better Tamales than what I've had in the Phoenix area. But, holy guacamole! This pork tamale combo was the best I've ever had. :-o I ordered the Tijuana combo, which consisted of a shredded pork tamale, refried beans with cheese and rice. Along with 2 beers (1 for the chips + salsa; 1 with dinner). That's a real smart idea the way they serve the salsa. That way less goes to waste, and hopefully it can be reused (I don't know if they do that or not). As you can see by the picture, a clean plate is the ultimate compliment. But, yet another place, where I was not asked by the waiter how my dinner was. But, the place was pretty busy, and he was the only one out front. However, I did notice that he glanced at my plate, as he walked by. So, I guess he figured that since I was eating good, everything was delicious. read more

Disclaimer... I cannot comment on the food because we couldn't even get seated! Terrible service and poor management, so we chose to leave. We originally asked if we could seat 20 and then brought in 10 people and were told we would need to wait outside for 10-15 minutes which was fine... As we waited, a family of 3 walked in and they immediately sat them in one of the tables they were cleaning for us. We walked in as a group and they asked us to wait outside again... meanwhile there were 4 people in the back on their phones with a table that clearly needed to be cleaned so we could sit and they continued to sit around. We then politely asked them if we could squeeze in the other 3 booths available and he told us, "No you can wait outside." Poor service and even poorer management. Congratulations!
