I'm American and have never been to Mexico. I arrived tonight for the first time and am staying at the Casa Inn hotel in downtown Mexico City. This by America standards of rating hotels is probably a 3 star hotel. Its certainly not the Ritz, but its clean, has the basic needs/wants and most of all its safe. However, that being said, so far the service is absolutely worth five stars! My parents and I arrived at night and had been traveling all day, hadn't eaten, etc. The bellman who helped us get our luggage to our room asked if we needed anything else. We wanted fruit, water and coffee creamer. We only had American money. He took our money, went to an outside store and came back with everything we asked for and plenty of it! He delivered it to our room and then went and brought us our change. EXTREMELY helpful when you're dead tired, starving, don't speak the language, don't know your way around and it's late at night! For all of those reasons if nothing else I recommend this hotel! The super helpful bellman by the way is named Oscar Lara! He should get a raise! read more
