When I saw all the 5 star reviews I thought, no way, they must be all fake, how could any place…read morehave such glowing reviews and nothing negative?! But after my stay here, I can say they were absolutely right!!! This is the most perfect hotel/B&B EVER. I'm so glad I stayed here over other soulless hotels that were cheaper. From the first welcome to the last goodbye, every staff member here has made us feel so warm and cared for. Breakfast: This was my absolute favorite part -- I usually don't care for hotel breakfasts because I'm always on the go, but once I had the first bite, I moved our itinerary around so that we could get their breakfast every morning! They start around 7am with the bread and coffee, but the hot breakfasts start at 8am and end at 10am. I got to try chilaquiles, enchiladas, and enmoladas while I was here, and they really make them with heart and soul! These were the best things I ate during my trip to Mexico City! Also really loved the outside garden in the mornings with all the greenery and birds chirping. Location: in the heart of La Condesa, walking distance to Roma Norte, both neighborhoods were great for strolling through parks and art galleries. We ubered to other places further away and it was so cheap and convenient. Rooms: We stayed here for 4 nights and went to Oaxaca for 3, then back to the Red Tree House for the last night, and both rooms we had were cozy and comfy, with AC. They have great shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, amazing water pressure and temperature, everything was so clean, and I got to sit outside in the balcony and took it slow for the last morning we were there. Housekeeping was amazing, everything was perfect when we came back every night. Safety: They lock their front doors and the front gate so you need your key to get in, and there's a safe in every room. Happy Hour every night 6-8PM: This was such an unexpected bonus! I didn't even plan for us to be at the hotel during those hours because I wanted to see everything in CDMX, but it ended up raining during those hours and we went to one, and it was so much fun chitchatting with other like-minded travelers who shared what they loved about their trip -- We ended up going to a few more & got so many tips from other guests! The hotel dogs Romeo & Booz - I love them and miss them so much! Side note: I LOOOOVED all the art work and interior design and colors. Felt like I was in an art gallery but at the same time so comfortable at a friend's home. HIGHLY recommend!!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

But what really sets this place apart is their incredible staff. They're friendly and helpful with recommendations! I also love that they have two cute pups hanging out. They have an amazing happy hour where they're very generous with the wine and you get the chance to meet other travelers, but also for breakfast they have different hot menu specials and a little fruit / bread bar. The breakfast was EXCELLENT. I really loved our stay here and it made our time in CDMX which was so great that much more memorable. Would love to stay again.

Roma 191 - There are no elevators in this place. So good luck getting your luggage up the stairs. We struggled a bit.

Hotel Roma 191 Okay…read more So I reserved my room through Expedia. And mind you, my room looked NOTHING like the one shown in the photos. My review would be divided into different sections. Overall I give this place a 1/5 stars. Go somewhere else. Background info: So on Expedia, my booking noted: - room requests: 1 king bed, non-smoking room - Deluxe room (Pissarro) Experience: So there's no doorbell or anything. I knocked and called the hotel number to let them know I was there, not as issue. Prior to us arriving, hotel owner had spoken to me over the phone and informed us that his credit card terminal was not fully functional and suggested we either pay cash or wire transfer the funds. Bringing a limited amount of cash and wire transferring that amount of money was not an option. My flight was already delayed for six hours and hearing this news was not the start of a pleasant experience. I do appreciate the owner/manager staying late since my flight was delayed six hours. And we arrived around 8:30pm-9pm. Once we got to the hotel, he was still very persistent on cash/wire transfer since the issue will not be resolved till the following week. I was not in the mood to debate on the payment options so I offered to give up my reservation and find another hotel. He "called his brother" who said a new credit card terminal will arrive the next day to complete the transaction, how convenient. He did arrange for a driver to drive us to Teotihuacan, which we had to pay for. We ended up transacting the cost of the room the morning after. Mind you, the check out process.. was not existent. I informed him that I will be checking out at 6am since we had an early flight. No one was there. I left the key on the key rack. Took a picture and left. Not going to risk missing my flight. One thing I didn't appreciate was that I noted the room to be non-smoking but once I walked into the hotel, there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. Have you ever been to a heavy smoker's home and the entire place smells like cigarettes? This was the situation. Room: Initially I didn't notice that the bed was a queen bed and not a king. We arrived so late and was so tired, we just knocked out. My partner who is 6ft noticed how little room there was on the bed. When speaking with the same guy the next day, he said we had booked the "Pissarro" room which is a deluxe room. He showed me the room which was incredibly small. The room we stayed in, which I believed was "Caravaggio" was also incredibly small for two people. He suggested that if we were to request a king sized bed, it would be an extra 300 pesos. We were only staying there for one more night (a total of two nights) so we didn't fight it. WARNING: Apparently deluxe means "queen bed" so be careful how you booked. Wished he reach out earlier to notify us that the Pissarro does not have a king bed. The room also doesn't have a safe. So just be aware. Our room did not have any windows facing outside. The only window was in the bathroom, next to the toilet and shower facing the stairwell that connects the first and second floor. This place only has a spiral staircase. My partner had a hard time luggage his checked baggage up to the room and back down and the guy didn't offer to help, very unpleasant experience. After every shower, the bathroom floor would be soaked. Not sure why or how, even though we secured the shower curtain to the edges. The edge/rim of the shower was low. So eventually water could splash out. Not convenient at all... we had to use our bath towels to soak up the water. We needed extra towels but there was no way of contacting the guy or any staff. The room is something you can show off on your instagram but by bedtime, we moved all of the extra pillows to the shelves in the room. Our room wasn't necessary clean either. Spots of dirt-like stains in the shower and a few hairs here and there on the sheets, whatever. Location: Located in Condesa. somewhat convenient for some walking distance. But otherwise you can Uber/commute to a lot of different places. Would I stay here again? No. Thank goodness I was only there for two nights, already two nights too much. It wasn't the cheapest place either. For that amount, spend it at a hotel. There's no amenities here. Except for water when you enter the building. We didn't find any reviews on this place and decided to take a chance, bad mistake. Do yourself a favor, and stay somewhere else. Also, I attempted to use a travel credit card to pay for my rooms. Listed as "shopping." Dont bother using the hotel card for points.
